We're considering Poly for our family of 4 - one child hates to share a bed.

1. Is the day bed guaranteed to be in the room? I looked at Beach Club, and they don't guarantee it.
2. How is the day bed, comfort-wise, compared to an actual twin bed? This is for a 10 year old, not a small child.

Thanks!

I don't think the day bed is guaranteed. By day bed do you mean the couch beds they have? If so I am 27 year old female 5'6" and 170 lbs and slept on that thing all weekend. It was fine. I thought it was a little hard but then tried the other bed and it was the same mattress as the queen beds the guys got. I sleep on a super plush bed at home so a "firm" bed to me is not the best. All Disney beds are pretty firm in my opinion but I had great sleep and after I finally got extra pillows each night (the housekeeping kept taking the extras off my bed and putting them back on the big bed) I slept pretty soundly. The bed never felt too small.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I thought the beds in AKL last year were quite firm (much firmer than I like it). Great to hear about the size. I really can't select Poly without the day bed. :( Maybe I'll call the front desk and see what they say.

Yes, all rooms at the Poly have the day bed. It is definitely comparable to a twin bed - size-wise and comfort. Our oldest daughter was 23 when she joined us on a trip last spring and she had no issues sleeping on it.

Oh, thank goodness! Great info, thanks!

No problem :)
We have three girls - 10, 13 & 24. When she has been with us on a trip (I think 3 times) our oldest has slept on the daybed without a complaint (and trust me she'd be quite happy to complain!). When DD24 isn't with us our youngest always insists on taking the daybed. Your 10 year old should be fine!

Awesome to know the day bed is guaranteed! We thought we got lucky. I love my fiance to death but I share a bed with him every day and with a 6lb dog. On vacation I need my own bed and space. Some people think I'm weird but it took me long enough getting use to sharing with the fiance as I can't stand people touching me at night. I don't even like the dog cuddling me but have gotten use to that as well. I use vacation as a true me time so I let the boys have the queen size beds and enjoyed my extended weekend of me on the day bed. It made for an amazingly relaxed vacation especially after the half half on Saturday.

I would say take the Monorail/Boat to MK and then take the bus to the Yacht & Beach Club.
Or if you have hoppers or APs and the parks are open walk over to the Ticket and Transportation center and board the monorail. Walk through EPCOT and out the back gate to the Beach Club

Hi All!
We are a family of five considering a stay at the Poly in April 2016. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the construction *might* be like at that time? Also, we are contemplating doing "club level" for the first time. Would anyone help me with some pros and cons on that. Last year we stayed off property in a rental home for the first time. Having the space was fabulous, but honestly, it didn't feel like a Disney vacation to me. (I know, I've been sucked in!:upsidedow)

Thanks so much for your help!

Any recent updates on the parking situation at Poly? When we were there in September, it was near impossible to find a parking spot. We did manage to find a spot in the DVC lot. Can any hotel guest park in that lot? We stayed in the DVC Studios last time, but are planning to book standard rooms for February. TIA

We stayed in a studio last August, as a cash reservation, and were not told of any specific parking lot to use.

Hi everyone! It has been a long time since I have posted, and I need guidance. A Garden View club level just popped up for a last minute stay. Is it pretty bad right now with the pool construction going on? Are there any requests I can make in order for me not to see construction, or is it seen from anywhere on that side of the building? Would love some help. Thank you so much.

Hi- I have a few questions about the Ohana Feast room service. I toyed with booking an Ohana ADR on our arrival day, but decided against it because we have a 6:30am flight so we will be up super early. Our plan that day is to check in GV CL at Poly and head to Studios. CS lunch there. I was thinking we will be wiped out by 3pm ish and would head back to Poly then. Lounge at 5 for some apps and at that time I would order the Feast assuming it would take an hour or so.
Would they deliver the Feast to the lounge for us? Or is that not proper? I have no problem just having it delivered to our room.
I would most likely just order for "1." How much bread pudding do they give you?
Is there an option to order an extra bread pudding? That's the only thing we may "fight" over between the 4 of us!
Thanks!

Just returned last night from four wonderful nights at the Polynesian. Perhaps we were lucky, or perhaps it was that Poly magic, but I could hardly have imagined a more perfect or enjoyable stay!

Thanks for your review. Glad you had a great time and were able to book a BB for next year :goodvibes.

I hope everyone can bear with me while I do this. It's going to be a bit time consuming!

As the pp said, whenever you get to it is fine! You do a great job of keeping this thread going with updates and I'm sure it takes a lot of time making sure everything is accurate with changes, so no rush ;).

Your questions have been answered, I just wanted to say the Poly is amazing and I'm sure you'd have a great time! Not only do all rooms come with a daybed, the rooms are large and spacious with plenty of room to spread out :).

Awesome to know the day bed is guaranteed! We thought we got lucky.

This is one of the (many) things I love about the Poly! It's always nice to have that extra bed ::yes::.

What is the best way to get from the Polynesian to Cape May Café?

I agree with the pp on taking the monorail or boat to MK and then hopping on a bus to the BC.

I can't answer about CL as we've never stayed CL at the Poly, but as far as construction, I think the only major thing going on now is the quiet pool construction. It was supposed to be completed by spring, but construction started a month or two late, so there's probably a good chance that will still be under construction in April. With that said, hopefully others will be able to give more specific information (as well as whether or not other things are going on) :flower3:.

I think the GV CL rooms overlook the quiet pool with not a lot of chance to get away from construction, but hopefully others will be able to verify that or correct me if I'm wrong, as well as give some suggestions on requests :).

I think getting the Ohana feast through room service is a great idea! I can't help with options in ordering as we've never done it, but there are few posters who have had a great experience with it recently who can hopefully give some input :flower3:.

We are in somewhat of the same boat. We've never stayed at the Poly or at CL, but are going late April and decided to do Poly CL. I'm a big pro/con person, so I'll share our reasons for doing CL. First, we are a family of four (me, DH, DS7 and DD3) plus my parents (67) are joining us. First, my parents really wanted a monorail resort this year. In the past we've stayed at CBR, which was nice, but not 'convenient' for my parents. So that narrowed it down to the Poly for us. Second, we are NOT park commandos. We spend the morning at the parks and afternoons at the resorts. Therefore, we know we will spend a lot of resort time and will enjoy the space of the CL lounge and snacks. Third, we are not big eaters (my kids are down right birds). We've gone during free dining in the past and it was just too much food for our family. So I'm pretty sure CL breakfast and evening apps will cover two meals (and if not, we'll just get a CS meal). Fourth, the convenience!! I love the idea of access to drinks/snacks during the day. Our kids drink lots of water/milk/juice. My parents are coke drinkers. It was a pain last trip to go to the food court constantly for milk, etc. Plus - coffee and adult drink. Last trip my mother and I loved having a glass of wine in the evenings. Having the lounge in the same building will be so nice - just a walk down the hall to get what we need. This is probably the biggest draw especially, with young kids and grandparents. We also arrive very early (10am) and leave very late (8pm) on our travel days. Last trip this was tough with the young kids on departure day. We had to be out of the room by 11, but our flight wasn't until 8pm! Having access to the lounge will be wonderful on those days. DD and Papa need naps as well, so someone will always be coming back to the resort (again, not park commandos). And the kicker for us was we got a pin code, so the cost of CL was the same as a standard room at the Poly. I don't know if we'll really use the planning services. This isn't our first disney trip and we are using a TA this year as well. But who knows, maybe once there we will use their services. Cost was/is a con. We would not have done CL without the pin code, it just wouldn't be in the budget. Hope that helps some!! I've read a bunch of CL posts and Poly posts about CL and think that it is the best option for our family. That being said, if we couldn't do CL I know we'd still have a great time!!

We had four in our room (three college girls and myself) and I ordered it for three. Each "serving was probably a scoop of salad, two potstickers, maybe three wings, a scoop of noodles and a scoop of vegetables. Not a ton of food there. Each eat was maybe three pieces per serving and maybe 4 shrimp. One load of bread and each serving of bread pudding was maybe a 3x3 square. Since we had it for 3 we had two squares in one bowl and 1 in another and two little pitchers of sauce. Maybe a little ice cream, can't remember. We each ate some, were full (with a little of the meats land some salad left over) and they picked at it again after we returned to the room.

No one touched the bread pudding, the CL attendants packed it up for me and I took it home with us and hubby ate some the night we came home

We're planning on taking our 3yr old daughter November or December 2016
Is there a huge difference between a standard room & a studio? Besides the bathroom? Do the bungalows take away most of the beach area? Or blocked the view of the electric water parade?
Also, is there still going to be construction?
