What time is the main pool open until? Doing one night at the DVC and wondering if we can get a quick swim in after we check in around 8.

I'm in the process of making a decision on what type of room we want to book for an upcoming all adult visit so I happened to ask via online chat about the measurement of the twin pull down bed and was told it's 37 x 67 inches (shorter than a standard US twin bed). Just thought I'd pass it along because that can make a difference for some.

Looks like the kid's play area has a sign that kids be under 48". We have a special needs 6 yo who happens to be very tall, probably 49.5" at the time of the trip. Are we going to run into trouble if she plays in the kid area? She isn't rowdy, and tends to be scared of the big pool. I just want to set expectations to try to avoid a meltdown once we are there. Thanks for the advice.

I'm wondering about pool hours. I usually stay at POP and can swim whenever I want. The life guards go off duty....but early in the morning and late at night many people are in the pool. So....are the hours enforced at Poly....because swimming early and late is important to me. If you stay till park closing and the pool closes at 8 p.m.( off season) I won't be able to swim when I get back to my room. So....do people swim before and after the posted hours?

Certainly no one is going to be walking around the splash area with a measuring stick! However, I'm sure the height recommendation is due to the size of the equipment, so I'd just make sure she doesn't find herself "trapped" in an area meant for a smaller body. I'm sure it's also for the safety of the real little ones, too, so as long as she's not knocking over babies, I'm sure you'll have no issues. :)

Yep, this. The area is designed for kids that are too small to enjoy the slide in the big pool. Babies, toddlers and preschoolers were in mind for the space.

Actually they will. I have seen it happen at AKL, GF and CBR. I will admit all those times were when they kiddie area was busy, but it does happen.

WOW! I have never seen this! Just out of curiosity, were the kids in question obviously older than the intended age range or being reckless? This really surprises me.

I was all set to pull the trigger on 2 nights at GF in August bc I was worried about construction at Poly. I have never been to either, and I'm sure the GF is amazing, but the Poly seems more us. I see the main pool is open. Wondering how much east pool construction would affect us if we were CL. Any help is appreciated from the experts here. Thanks !

I'm new to this forum but not to Disney! last year i went with my family of 4 along with in-laws and my mother to BCR. Back then, my boys were not quite 3 years old and 4 months old. Staying at BCR was divine but schelapping the double stroller on bus was a PITA for us. This time round we're just going as 4 of us with boys as 4 half and almost 2 years old, therefore want easy access to MK since it's the one of the parks we'll be spending most of our 5 days there.

I love the look/feel of Poly but worried about construction. We're hoping to go over thanksgiving week (11/23 thru 28th) and trying to decide between CR, GF and the poly. CR worries us as their pool doesn't seem as amazing compared to other resorts and we plan on spending lots of time in/by the pool from 2pm onwards.

would you go stay at the poly despite construction?? as apart from that issue, this resort will ticks off our needs.

Hi Poly experts! I have a question for you and I know that no one can guarantee an answer. I'm just wondering if you've ever done anything similar and how it worked out for you?

I booked a stay at the Poly for a standard view room using my AP discount. This is my first stay in the Poly but I know that I'm going to love it! We have the chance to add an extra day at the beginning so I went to book it and only Theme Park views are available. I don't mind paying more for the extra night but I'd really love not to change rooms after one night. Do you think there is any chance they'd keep us in the same room?

I was thinking about sending a request asking that they keep us in the same room and downgrade the Theme Park night to a Standard room but for the higher price. I figured that is more likely than keeping the Theme Park View for all of the nights when we didn't pay for it!

I know a lot of booking depends on available rooms and when people check in/out so nothing is guaranteed.

Just hoping for some advice and what other people may have experienced.

Thanks!! :)

We stayed at the GF last fall and their Alice play area has a 48" height restriction, and almost all of the time there was a life guard dedicated to that area that was diligently checking children's heights with a built in guide at the entrance. They would have any child that looked questionable walk over with them and check, and they did not make exceptions. Adults and taller children could be there and play (climb to the top of the stairs, stand under the bucket, run around, etc) but could not go down the slides. They were nice about it and apologetic, but very strict. I understand it and like it for my little ones, but the problem comes in with families with 2 kids and one just over the height. When my 5 year old gets over 48" he is going to be upset that only his little brother can play in those areas. My personal opinion is the requirement should be more like 52", 48" seems a little low, but Disney didn't ask me when they made the rules :D One day they were not being strict, and there were taller kids misbehaving and running around like maniacs, and it was really detrimental for the younger ones trying to slide, so overall I like that they enforced it. I don't know where those kids parents were, and why they would let them act like they were acting.

Well...here's my take for what it's worth. This is my first time at Poly. Being on the Monorail was a priority for me. I like Poly the best of the resorts on the Monorail. I've been following the construction updates regularly. The main pool, the hot tub and kids play area are all open....as is Trader Sam's. There will be construction in the East Pool area. I'm sticking with my Poly reservation and will request a room that is further away from that construction area....hoping for the best. It won't be perfect but....I like the atmosphere enough to take a chance that the construction will not overwhelm the enjoyment I get from the pool and the monorail! If it is horrible...I will ask to change resorts. This is my plan....hopefully it helps.

That is the situation we're going to be in. We are traveling with my nieces. One is barely 4 and will be allowed in. The other is a very tall 6yo, with some special needs. She will definitely not be comfortable in the big pool and slide with my 7yo. And I am worried about a scene if her little sister is getting to do things that are really mentally and emotionally appropriate for her too. I guess I'll wait to see what some folks actually there report on the current policy. But 48" seems pretty short.
