I was all set to pull the trigger on 2 nights at GF in August bc I was worried about construction at Poly. I have never been to either, and I'm sure the GF is amazing, but the Poly seems more us. I see the main pool is open. Wondering how much east pool construction would affect us if we were CL. Any help is appreciated from the experts here. Thanks !
CL standard/garden view will be looking right at the east pool. CL TP/water view will be on the other side of the building, but not sure how much you will be able to hear? A non-CL room would be your best option to get far away from the construction.

I'm posting again to get some feedback regarding pool hours. If the pool closes at 10 p.m. during the busy season but MK closes at midnight for extra magic hours....you can't swim when you get back to your resort? Is this true? Or say you get back to your resort at 10:30...you can't swim? What have other's experienced with this?

I'm not sure anyone can answer your question right now, or not at least until the actual construction begins. Hopefully some one going in May will report how they set up the construction (walls, cranes, or etc) and if it is overly bothersome. This will be the best guide for you and your family. Saying that...if you are in the parks all day, it may not effect you at all. Other than maybe seeing some "walls", or a walking route changed due to the construction.

For all you Poly goers out there....Is the Tambu Lounge still part of the resort. I was hoping to get chicken wings and bread pudding after a romp at the parks? All the talk seems to be about Trader Sams....does that mean Tambu Lounge is closed? I looked at the menu for Trader Sam's and they did not have Chicken wings or bread pudding on the menu. A little help please? Much appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback. The summer rate only had CL garden rooms for our dates. I think we will go with the GF, and use the $200 we save for a nice dinner at Citricos. I'll try the Poly next time!

Hi all! Seeing all the pics of the pool being open I am starting to feel a little sad we are not returning to the Poly next week. When we booked I just didn't want to take any chances and have always wanted to try the BC/YC. I am sure we will still have a good time but...

There is always the next vacation! You will have a wonderful time no matter what!

I'm thinking the height requirement is probably there because of equipment issues if the restriction is mostly for the slides.

DD9 is about 50". She may be a but disappointed but she's a daredevil and will love the big slide. She just likes having options. Lol

I can't answer your question re CL and the east pool construction but here's my GF experience. We jumped ship last year and went to the GF due to the pool construction. I was a little apprehensive like you, thinking that very same thing...its not really me. But we all LOVED it!! The pool was amazing and quite large, though I have no comparison as I've not been to any other Disney resort. (My daughter even swam with her full size mermaid tail! Lol) This year we are going to the Poly, and we're so excited, but the comments I hear from others are that the pool is small and the deck cramped. It does look cramped, with all the lounge chairs so close together, compared to the GF's pool deck, that's for sure. Nonetheless, the Poly is awaiting our first visit. IMO you can't go wrong, either way.

Now that disney is constructing fences around the feature pools it will be easier for them to enforce pool hours at those pools

I am wondering the same thing for this summer when the lava pool is the only pool open. Since it is the feature pool I am assuming it will be closed when we get back from the parks vs. if we were to stay at CSR or POR where a quiet pool would still be open. I understand why, we went in 2013 shortly after the Pop drowning, but it would be nice to have the option for a late night dip for tired feet. I am not sure if it would mean we change resorts, but I will say that we have considered it because of this.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by equipment issues, but I'm sure (well, as sure as i can be since I'm not an engineer and didn't build it :D) that it isn't due to weight on the slide or adult size. In our week at the GF I must have seen 20-30 adults go down one of the little slides with their child, not realizing there was a height restriction. The lifeguard would simply catch their eye or go up to them and let them know they weren't allowed, and they would always apologize and not do it again. Some of these were very big guys. I think the life guards often felt bad for not letting them, I heard them apologizing that they weren't allowed. Disney couldn't build something like that with structural issues that could cause guests harm if they slid or were on them - the life guards do look away or people do sneak down them and if they were injured Disney could still have a problem, despite the rules. This is just my $0.02, which is worth no more than that, but I think it is so groups of bigger kids and teens or drunk adults don't get too rambunctious and either get hurt or ruin the fun for the little ones that it is built for. That's why I feel a height restriction is good, but that it's a little short at 48". Again, it doesn't matter what I think, but there it is for what it's worth :goodvibes:goodvibes:thumbsup2

Yes, that's right. After main pool closes you can't use it, and quiet pool will be closed soon if it isn't already for refurb.

We are all guessing this is what may happen. But it's a unique situation with quiet pool closed for construction. So maybe they will leave main pool open, and just close slide.
When I think about it, AKL only has 1 pool, and this is what they do, leave pool open and close slide when lifeguards leave.
I'm sure we'll hear feedback from guests.
