You could request Raratonga. That would be very close to GCH. And I don't believe there are stairs on that side of entrance? When making a particular request, I find its best to state medical condition and ask for closest location to GCH, rather then just requesting a longhouse. This way room assignors know what you need and why. Better chance of getting a suitable location.

Hi! We just moved again to GF which is where we really wanted but couldn't get the offer with the pin. :)

Yes, the view will be perfect once the quiet pool construction is complete.

so I am thinking to avoid club level as they are already delayed starting the construction and chances are it won't be done by next march when we go..

youy would think it should be finished in 9 months

they originally said early 2016 but if construction is delayed it means reopening will be delayed too!

That's our plan. I previously thought we'd avoid Poly until all construction is complete, but it's our boys' favorite resort and we love it for a number of reasons. I'd usually book GV CL, but will go with standard instead. I'll miss CL, but of all the deluxe resorts we've agreed that Poly is the best place to stay when we're non-CL.

This is our first trip to Disney and I think that the Poly is still the best option for us. This may be a once-in-a-lifetime shot. I think the themeing (amongst other things) can't be beat.

Am I right to assume the construction will affect garden view rooms cL? That's my reason for sticking with standard room or switching back to CR CL.

Yes - we've stayed CL GV in the past and the east pool construction would be right there in front of it. Some of the Poly GV CL rooms have trees obstructing the construction view, so that might help. But I've stayed CL at Poly twice during construction already, and both stays were great for their specific purposes, but next time I'd prefer as construction-free a zone as possible!

Trying to decide what longhouses to request as my two choices. I am staying standard view in December. Samoa is first choice, unless someone tells me there is a problem, but second is tough. Fiji seems to have very pretty views, but I saw a pic on Tikiman's site of Niue with a gorgeous little stream running by the patio. Does this stream still exist? Which side of Niue is it on? Or would pool construction be an issue?

If it helps, I am typically out of the room by 8, if not earlier, to rope drop and am usually not in bed before 11. I would walk up to the GCH for breakfast daily and go from there to whatever method of transportation I am using to get to the park. So closeness to GCH would be a priority. Would also like a pretty view.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Based on the work I saw being done last August, that little stream (on the Volcano Pool/GCH side of Niue) is gone. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Niue is a GREAT little building but so close to the Quiet Pool. Samoa may be too close as well. But the Volcano Pool side of those buildings would at least face away from the quiet pool construction.

I am thinking the opposite side of the resort might be best during the quiet pool construction (Tuvalu, Fiji, Aotearoa).

Just a heads up we've stayed in Samoa before and we're facing the east pool, which may or may not still be under construction when you go. So if a possible construction view would bother you I'd steer clear of that request. The views from Samoa lava pool side are good but are pretty highly sought after as well so even if requested that might not be honored.

For Niue there is a possibility of seeing a construction view there as well. Just depending which side you get placed on. Sorry, not sure if the stream is still there after the construction, hopefully someone who has been recently can tell you about that.

I'd say hopefully by your trip then east pool construction would be done or most of the big obtrusive work would be done, but really I don't think any of use will know when the construction work will be done.

I'm in the same boat as you though, trying to decide what building we should request. Normally we like Samoa for a standard/garden view but with the construction on the east pool I'm not sure I'd risk requesting that building just in case since I'd rather stay in a different building than face construction.

I've been thinking Aotearoa might be a nice choice since standard/garden views could either have a view of the monorail or on the other side there is a possibility for a partial lagoon view.

Let us know if you figure out what the best long house is for you!

Fiji was up there in my choices. Maybe I will put it first. Thanks

Will do. I have time, but my approaching adr date has my trip fresh in my mind.

Does the monorail make much noise? I mean, my room at home has traffic noise that I am used to tuning out, but is the monorail anything more excessive than cars doing 50?

Hooray! All DME tags have arrived for my family of 16! Ready to go next week! We have 5 rooms at the Poly! Ages range from 5 months to 61! Grandma and Grandpa went to Disney World for honeymoon and now every 5 years, bring the whole family to Disney World! Takes 5 years to save for this expense! Up to 16 now!

No! I have had one room with a monorail view (in Rarotonga) and it was awesome! I remember the sound of it gliding past if we had the sliding door open as only a positive.
