Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

We are flying down on Feb 29 2016 and staying 10 days. Was wondering if there will still be construction. If there is I don't think it will affect our stay that much. Just waiting to book the Poly to see if Disney will release a room discount for my dates. Fingers Crossed.
I don't know if I missed something but I tought they were supposed to build a lazy river around the Volcano pool. Did I imagine this!?

I also posted some other room view pictures from Hawaii on the CL thread while I was there. Some other people were also wondering about the various views from different areas of the 1st floor. My room was on the extreme left (1503) and I took a few pictures of rooms to the right. It's in the CL thread posted probably around June 30 or so. I also posted some views from the garden side of Hawaii, but the construction hadn't started yet so it's hard to know exactly what it looks like now.

EDIT to add: It's post #550 on this page of the CL thread:

Interesting, thank you! IMO that view from 1515 wouldn't even be a lagoon view, it's mostly grass, hill, and bungalows.

I agree....maybe it's GV? I really don't know what it's considered anymore. Although you can see the top of the Castle.... Sometimes I wonder if they classify rooms like that LV and then "upgrade" GV people to that room.

I agree with the pp that I would maybe wait until next spring to see what the situation is at that time :). Some longhouses that usually have great views are obstructed right now, so it's hard to give a suggestion for next summer.

Thanks! Is the construction going to alter a lot of the current views? I've taken notes on pics I've seen and current suggestions but I suppose they will be null once all is said and done? This is my second visit overall and will be the first to Poly (we stayed at CR 8/14).

We've done CL at WL and AKL and neither of those have protein for breakfast either. Not sure how common it is to find proteins at the WDW CL locations.

Same with the CR, no meat or cheeses at breakfast. I'm a vegetarian so I don't mind at all. As long as there is coffee and yogurt I'm happy :goodvibes

I'm happy at BC for breakfast because it's pure protein -- hard boiled eggs and meats:thumbsup2.

I will say it was a hard adjustment for me at Poly a couple weeks ago. After a couple mornings of oatmeal or bagel, I went with Special K cereal for the rest of the trip and that worked out ok. I really, really missed the eggs and meats, though.

that's funny, i had an "upgrade" to a LV at the GF and the view was terrible, mostly just a pine tree. they made a huge production at check in about this "upgrade." i have ALWAYS thought exactly what you said here, there is no way that room would ever actually be a LV, that it was totally a fake upgrade, lol!

I took these pictures two weeks ago of the new water / play area near the Volcano pool. The lifeguard said everyone can play there, but only guests under 48 inches can use the slides. It was fun. I hope I'm posting the photos correctly.IMG_2861.JPG

What I really wanted to share were pictures from our room. We stayed in Moorea, Deluxe lagoon view studio. The view was not as impressive as we hoped. We were overlooking the bungalows. We watched the WISHES fireworks from our first floor room almost every night and enjoyed the leisurely pace. But the view was in between the bungalows. We requested a higher floor, but it was not available at check in. We had a great time and liked the resort. Just the view was unexpected. Feel free to ask any questions. I'll try to answer. Everyone was so helpful before we left.

I can't remember if we were 1503 during our last Poly stay, but if we weren't it was close. These are the views from our patio in December 2010 (apologies for the pretty lousy photos). And I agree, the people upstairs sounded like elephants when they came in at night. The sound only lasted about twenty minutes, but wow, was it loud. I don't think it was them so much as poor sound insulation between floors.

I have almost 2 months to go :) Im so excited !! I cant wait to sit out on the balcony of my beautiful second floor room in Rarotonga, overlooking the gorgeous and tranquil east pool. This time Im going to surprise hubby by ordering room service from Kona for dinner on our lovely balcony. After dinner, we will walk to the marina and take the boat over to the boardwalk for dessert. He will love it. Any other suggestions for what we should do our first night (not that anything can top our current plans). Yipppeee!

Just had to comment on your post as it literally made my day :rotfl2:

I am confused...is there an easy way to get to the Boardwalk from Poly?? (had planned on taking the Monorail to MK and catching the Boardwalk bus there...) Kindest Thanks!

.

I saw that too. If there's a way to get to the Boardwalk by boat I'd like to know. I don't think there is though. Our plan was monorail to MK then bus to BW or maybe just take a cab or do Uber.
