We just ate dinner at the Maya Grill exactly a week ago and it was wonderful. The Queso Fundido was delicious as was the House Guacamole. I could make those into a meal.

Your FP+ date is only 10 days away! How are you planning on handling all of the uncertainty around Rivers of Light, Soarin', and Frozen Ever After?

Hahaha! I feel like a game show contestant.

This is our 10th trip but first trip with FP+ (we haven't been since 2013), and we were well-seasoned "workers" of the old FP system. I have been reading and reading, and I still feel like it is our first trip ever. The whole thing unnerves me for some reason. Fortunately for me, my kids are boys ages 15 and almost 13 (will turn 13 the 2nd day of our trip), and their goals are hitting a water park every afternoon of our trip and anything related to Star Wars. Their list of must-dos in the 4 main parks is fairly short. This is likely our last WDW trip before the oldest goes to college in 3 years.

RoL - We only have one day planned at AK, and we do not have park hoppers (will add if we need to). The fact that no info is being released is driving me crazy. We (DH & I anyway) really, really want to see RoL without having to wait in line for 2 hours to do so. I am hoping the rumor of a Flame Tree dinner package for RoL is true and I am able to book one. Dinner at Tusker House would cost us around $200, plus tip, and we are not on a dining plan. We will do it if it is the only way to get RoL, but that is a lot for one meal. I am stalking the RoL dining package thread. My AK plan really only "needs" to use 2 FP, so I will book the 3 and one will be changed to RoL if it becomes available and I can get it.

Soarin' is one of our favorites. I am planning to book our tier 1 FP for Test Track when the time comes, and be prepared to switch it to Soarin' if it becomes available before our trip. We will have two days at Epcot, so plan to hit one at opening and use FP for the other both days, IF Soarin' is open. Frozen doesn't affect us too much. I would like to ride it once if we can without a huge wait, just to see it, but the boys would rather not.

That sounds a lot like what I'm planning on doing. We already have an ADR for Boatwright's on the day we go to AK, so if we can't get a TH dining package ADR, we'll just keep that. We'll also book TT FPs for all of our Epcot days, then change once more info on Frozen or Soarin' comes out. I don't recall there ever being this much uncertainty on our previous trips!

We LOVE FP+, and we, too, were "masters" of the old system!

The uncertainty about openings, closings, refurbs, etc., bothered me for awhile, especially with BTMRR because it is one of our favorites. I finally decided it is what it is, and one (or three) rides won't make a huge difference anyway. We are going to do what we can do and have the best time we can. It will all work out in the end anyway.

We just learned yesterday that two good friends of ours will be staying at CSR for part of our stay in May.
They were originally going to stay at All Star Music but our Daughter and their Son, our Son in Law, made arrangements for them to stay at CSR with us.
They've never been to WDW so their entire stay from start to finish will be new experiences for them. :D

Crazy question-- what kind of cupcake selections do they have at CSR? I love me some Disney cupcakes...

does anyone know what's going on at CSR at the end of April? We're staying from the 18th to 22nd--last week I checked and the hotel still had availability in a good number of categories (all the suites, King rooms, preferred King, and BC King, I think). I just checked this morning out of curiosity and there isn't a single room left. is this typical?

Probably finalizing a contract for a block of rooms. Not 100%, but that's what we do at the resort I work at here in Vegas with group sales.

There are two groups scheduled at CSR the first and second weeks of May.
The Invictus Games (https://invictusgamesfoundation.org/) with over five hundred participants, and The National Conference for Nurse Practitioners.
Both groups are likely scheduling rooms before and after their events to visit the parks.
We were lucky enough to have reserved our rooms at CSR before they were sold out.
Or maybe unlucky since it may be crowded.....

Good points! I think it seemed strange to me because it would be such an odd assortment of rooms to book (suites and king room all over the resort) but maybe that actually works well for some conventions. My room is booked too, so no worries over here either, I'm just surprised for the May events to possibly be causing the resort to sell out during our dates.

I've dealt with WDW crowds since the mid 80's and will go with the flow as needed.
My concern is that two of our party are first timers, retired, and one of them has Alzheimer's.
We've requested adjoining rooms so we can be close if he has a stressful incident.
He's just fine when he's with Family and friends but has night time anxiety if we're not close by.
We really want them to enjoy their first trip to The World and chose CSR because it was so peaceful and quiet last May.
I guess we'll just have to see how it progresses.

Does anyone know how to access the Convention list for 2016? I'm particularly looking for those scheduled in August. TIA.

60 days out from our first stay at CSR! We are local AP, so we have only recently started staying on property once a year. We stayed at POFQ our first trip and loved it. Decided our preschooler would like All Star Movies for our second trip, but ended up getting upgraded to...POFQ. Excited for this Memorial weekend trip so we can try something new!

We went last May too and completely loved it. Fingers crossed that the resort isn't overwhelmed, and that your group is put in adjoining rooms! It seems promising to me--CSR handles so many conferences and events that I think all of us travelling in April and May will have a great time :goodvibes That said, I don't think I've ever stayed at a resort that had no availability left, so we'll see how they do...

I know most places at Disney are great about accommodating a gluten free diet, but what about the Siestas Cantina for breakfast? Can anyone confirm? Would be nice to not have to walk all the way to El Centro every morning if our room is one of the furthest away!

12 days away until I get to see my DD (she is a CP) and check out Coronado for the first time. I have read(okay, skimmed) the thread and it seems overwhelming. Any insider hints that may be helpful? We booked using DD's discount so we aren't going to request any specific rooms, you get what you get and you don't throw a fit. (totally different than last trip where we were still trying to figure out what smells/fragrances triggered attacks for this DD so we had to request a "clean" room) TIA

57 Days until we arrive at CSR! We are worried about the Memorial Day crowds, but are looking forward to staying CSR for the first time.

In what area is your DD working? Mine did the CP and never came home!!! She's full-time now!

Even with DD's discount you're allowed to make requests (and you should!) ;) What room type did you book?

I love CSR and have stayed there many times (my next stay is coming up in early May - during the Invictus games!!) I love walking around the resort, especially early in the morning - so serene and peaceful! Bus service is usually great!

Las Ventanas is a lovely restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner - pretty much still a secret so it's usually easy to get a last minute reservation!

Rix Lounge is a great place to spend an adult evening! They have one of my favorite drinks there - a toasted coconut martini! (it's like dessert! :goodvibes)

The pool area (The Dig Site) is really nice. There's a pool bar there and quick service food at Siesta's Cantina.

Have a great stay! :woohoo:
