We are staying for the first time in BC in December. What is your favorite part about BC? How "fresh" are the rooms? It has been some time since I last stayed at CSR - and the rooms were very worn. Since CSR will be going through a refurb soon (sounds like they haven't started on the rooms yet), I'm a little concerned how worn the BC rooms will be - or were they updated more recently than the standard rooms?

Location. Location. Location. Short distance to everything. El centro, pools, laundry and buses.

The lounge works great for my family. The breakfast is suffice. Cereal, toast, fruit, yogurt, muffins and lots of choolate milk for my son. Then we head to a park. We come back in the early evening for cocktails and snacks. Even though I know the Sangria is Beso Del from a box, it sure does taste good with a few berries. I usually get one to go for the bus ride back to a park. The BC CM's are fantastic, we always chat. They make recommendations and just share a wealth of information with us. We head back out to the parks 9/10 pm. Easter break the parks have EMH till 2/3am. We stay till closing.

I don't think 9B rooms are that worn. The furniture wasn't knicked or scratched. Beds were cozy. The bathrooms, Yes, they need some work. Just outdated imo. I'm not sure when they were last updated. Frankly, the refurb has been talked about since my first stay BC Easter 2013. Figured for sure April 2015 I would have a refub room. Nope. In April, a CSR CM said they were starting with Cabanas in July. But that didn't happen. I think the rumors are - starting with Casistas soon. Who knows. I'm just glad I got a room since it has become pretty popular. When I looked this morning at rooms I didn't see anything available. My TA worked some magic and got it!!:yay:

Enjoy your trip! I've never been in December to see the decorations.

We have a split stay booked for the last week of February starting at Coronado. I have always wanted to stay at this resort but for some reason there has never been any availability until this trip. I'm so excited! We have a preferred room booked but I just saw that I could get a water view for $500 less! I know my DS would love to be near the dig site but that wouldn't be guaranteed with the water view. I can't decide if we should just keep the preferred and be near the main building or take the chance and see if we can get a room near the dig site. How long would the walk be from the preferred rooms to the dig site? Any advice is really appreciated!

The preferred rooms are in Casitas and a bit of a hike to the pool. If you keep the waterview room I would request to be put in Ranchos. This section is probably the closest to the main pool.

Regarding the room refurbs, how long does it usually take approximately for a resort this size for them to be completed? We are going in May 2016.

Location is perfect at BC. But if I had to pick a favorite about BC, for us, it would be the lounge. We've always packed simple breakfast foods in the past at other resorts. Here, we love sitting and relaxing in the lounge for a good breakfast and then a coffee to go for at the bus stop. It's not a bacon and eggs breakfast but it is very filling for us. Every morning my favorite was their mango yogurt that I topped with fresh mixed berries and granola. They had many other yummy things too like muffins, bagels, fresh cut up and whole fruit, cereal, etc. Then our nightly routine was coronas with lime wedges. Yum!

We are going late January early February, so pool is out so proximity to that isn't an issue. We don't eat at the food court much. But like being close to the car/parking lot/bus stop. What should I request? THANKS

Any place. They all are close to a parking lot and each area has its own stop.

Excited we officially switched to CSR for March 2016! It's a spring break trip for my boyfriend and I (his first trip) and with the Early 2016 Discount the price diff between AoA and here was $17 total! Just a standard room, but this is a budget trip so I'm super excited that we could switch to a moderate! I haven't stayed at CSR since 2010, so it'll be nice to be back!

Very excited that I found this thread! Thank you for creating it!
We are booked here from 12/6-12/12. I've been reading about some kind of cheer competition around this same time. Is this considered a convention and do they book here at Coronado?

I saw this too, but saw it after I booked CSR. I have never stayed at this resort and am looking forward to it, but hope the cheers are more subdued than I have heard they can be. LOL!

I just checked in online and requested cabanas, and that I preferred my room be ready over any other requests. I have no experience at this resort so I did not know if I should include a floor or to be near transportation. We are three healthy women, and walking is not an issue, but I have head that there are some pretty remote areas. Is this true, or a bit of an exageration? I am traveling with my DDIL (YAY!!!) and a friend who is joining us from out of state.

I had tried to upgrade to BC, but there are none available.

Anyone there now..can give us an update on the casitas pool and spa, ect refurb? It's supposed to be done the 12 and we check in the 16th. Hoping the pool is done so we can use it :)

Going in December and hoping to book a bounceback for Spring Break - I can't decide whether to try for the BC or for the preferred. Are the preferred right there by the convention center where all the pretty fountains are?
Or are they around the corner - the casitas 4 and 5. Never stayed but have walked around the resort.

My husbands loves the mango yogurt with granola. It's made somewhere on property. I wish they would add some hard boiled eggs to the breakfast.
Yes I have heard that it's homemade. It's so good!! That's a great idea about hard boiled eggs....good protein.

The walking times/distance are greatly exxagerated by most people. There is a youtube video where someone filmed themselves walking from Ranchos 7A(farthest area) to the main building in 7 mins. You can clearly see they are walking at a normal pace. If you are in any other area the walk will be shorter than 7 mins. :)

Preferred rooms are Casitas 1-3. Yes, the fountains are in that area. Preferred rooms are close to the food court, but opposite side to the main pool. The BC rooms are close to everything.

I am okay with that! The grounds look so lovely that it will be a pleasure to walk for morning coffee.

Cabanas 8A and 8B are great locations, very close to the Dig Site main pool complex thru a back entry. And the bus stop is very close by. You can get Disney mug refills at the Dig Site Siestas Cantina or the bar. We ordered breakfast to-go from Siestas Cantina. It's just an order window but there's a small kitchen. Fish tacos were great, too. Here's a map showing Cabanas 8A and 8B location.

The pool was never worked on. It was closed because of proximity to construction work at the spa and fitness center. Construction workers were constantly in and out of every doorway, just adjacent to the pool deck. I hope work will be done by your arrival date. Disney is not usually off with their construction schedules. They do have a temporary fitness center set up in the convention meeting rooms area, just behind the Pepper Market. I believe it's the Acapulco and Baja rooms (just to the right of "C" on the map above).

Thank you! I checked in online and requested Cabanas, bbut there was no option to ask for a building. I will call on the morning and request either of these buildings. I kept looking at the map, but was not sure, so Iappreciate your help!

My first post here!

We'll be staying at CSR in BC for 10 nights at the end of January and I have a question. I read here that there is beer, wine and sangria served in the BC lounge, is it free? I'm no cheapskate or anything close, i was just wondering! If so, we'll skip spending 20$ for a 6 pack of Lite from the resort store. :rolleyes1
