Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

We are planning to be there the same time!

Awesome! Have you decided on CSR for certain? We are leaning towards it but haven't made a final decision.

Thanks to everyone's replies and perspectives. It helps to know what to expect. It sounds like where you are in the resort makes a difference for the bus waits. If we stay at CSR, I will probably try to convince my other family members to stay preferred or BC for easier access to the main building. My understanding is that the bus stops first at the Casitas section even though it is bus stop #2. It seems like this would be another advantage to booking preferred.

You are correct, bus stop #2 is the first stop! We were in casitas 4, and it was maybe two minute walk to the bus stop.

This thread was incredibly helpful in planning our trip!

We are in Casitas 4 and the bus stop is in the parking lot of our building, very convenient for drop off and pick up. One thing we didn't factor in, was filling our refillable mugs and getting breakfast in the am. El Centro is a 5 minute walk and the bus stop there is the last one. Which means, you either walk 5 minutes back to bus stop 2 or be ok with standing on the bus. We have been going to different hotels for some of our dining and I will say that pool at CSR is one of the best. My kids (5 and 12) love it. The Pepper Market is also very nice for quick service. The variety is enough so you don't get tired of the food. The only negatives for me are the motel style and the long walk to everything.

We are at CSR now, and have been here since the 18th. I'm not sure what buses everyone else is catching but we have waited as long as 20 minutes for a bus. The norm being 10 to 15 minutes. Might sound like a long time, but it really hasn't been that bad. The only time we had to stand was leaving Epcot at closing, otherwise we all had a seat. The resort is nice, but very large. Trekking from Casita 4 to the Pepper Market or Dig Site has been a nightmare after a long day in the parks. The rooms have a motel feel, and definitely show some wear in the bathrooms. Our family is having a great time, but I don't think we will stay at CSR again.

Update.. Just waited 25 minutes for a bus to Hollywood Studios with standing room only and not everyone at the bus stop was able to get on the bus.

I hate to say it, but it sounds as if the only moderate that will appeal to you is POFQ. All of them are equally as large as CSR if not larger. Casitas #4 is actually a pretty good spot to be in, with regards to how close you are to the Pepper Market. It is right next to the preferred buildings.

Hmmm...was that at the casitas bus stop? Of course, this is a very crowded time of year.

Can anyone tell me where the mini golf places are located and if there is a way to get there using Disney bus transportation?

One is at blizzard beach and you take the BB bus to it. It's very close to CSR if I remember correctly.

Is all the decor/bedding the same in all the rooms at CSR? I was on an expedia site and they have pics with the white bedding and dark wood with turquoise overlays and accents and then some other pics with very different decor that is IMHO very ugly and outdated.

The other mini golf is by the swan & dolphin resorts. You can take the boat from Epcot or HS & get off at that stop & easily walk to it. It is right across the road there.
You can also walk from Epcot & it's not very far at all. We walked to it this time.

We just returned from a pre-Christmas stay in the Ranchos section and stayed in Cabanas in 2013. Both rooms had the white coverlets/turquoise accents and the dark wood. Bathroom vanities were wood and the counter had that granite type look. I believe the other pictures you're referring to are pre-renovation a few years back. We were pleased with the modern look of the room.

We are currently at CSR: checked in on the 23rd and out on Jan. 1st. Some thoughts in no particular order:
1) DME - DH and DS19 flew down earlier in the day and arrived about 2:30. They were the first drop off and were at the resort about an hour after landing.
DS15, DD11 and I took a night flight due to work/ school and arrived at the airport around 11:30 pm. We did not arrive to the resort until 2am. So - 2 1/2 hours after landing. This was a combo of having to wait for our luggage, waiting a long time for the bus to fill, and being the last drop off. (The bus stopped at each All-Star first).

2) We are in Casitas 4. LOVE this location. I had made 2 requests (connecting and ranchos). Casitas was not an option when I did the online check-in. I had only requested ranchos as all the family liked that theme the best, except me who liked the casitas. DH texted me with the info. of our location when he checked in. He liked the area and did not request a change to ranchos which made me quite happy.

3)LOVE being by bus stop 2. None of the buses have been full before getting to bus stop 1, but I should note that we have been hitting the parks at rope drop which is 7am for MK. I can see where things might be much busier around 9-10 o'clock when most people seem to get up.
No issues with the buses. The majority of waits have been 5-10 minutes. A couple times we've gotten one right away and walked on. The only time we waited the full 20 min. was coming home from MK and other resorts seemed to be having the same issue as well. It looked like they were doing shift changes.
Not a fan of multiple bus stops, but you get that at pretty much all the resort except value one way or another.

4) The resort is gorgeous! I think the only other resort area that I like more is the Boardwalk/ Beach Club area. Love the theme of Coronado. It is a big resort, but I knew that coming in and have stayed at POR so I wasn't surprised by the size. I have only seen 2 scooters on a bus the entire time as compared to my value stays which usually had multiple scooters lined up waiting for each bus. This is not anything against scooters, just thinking that those with mobility difficulties don't seem to book Coronado.

5) The Pepper Market food has been delicious! It has blown away the CS in the parks. My only complaint about the Pepper Market is the dessert options. The desserts that they have are very good, but they are true desserts. At other food courts, I would typically get fruit cups, yogurt etc... as my dessert and save for snack later. I don't like just having the sweets as options. This would also be problematic for someone like my mother who is diabetic. Also, the choices for a bottled beverage are very limited.

6) There has been a high school basketball tournament going on and many of the players are staying here. Their presence has had minimal effect. The groups have been well chaperoned and respectful.

7) The weather has been unseasonably warm and the kids have used the pools 3x - once in the main pool and twice at the quiet pool.

Overall, we love Coronado and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Let me know if you have any questions.:goodvibes

What is Las Ventanas and where is it located, exactly? It wasn't there in 2013 when we stayed at CSR last.

thanks guys
Figured since it is part of the water park plus and the kids love mini golf that it would be fun to do

to the family staying in casitas 4-I have some questions.
Are you in a waterview? I booked waterview and so will either be the rooms facing the lake or the pool-if I get my request for casitas 4 at least. Do you think the rooms facing the pool are good ones? Or are they right on the pool without any privacy? I'm wondering whether to request a room facing the lake for more privacy (east facing however.). But I like the southern exposure in the winter because it gets full sun all day, which would be pool.

We are in Casitas 4. I booked standard view. We have a parking lot view, though the parking lot is not right next to the building like it is at some resorts. There is plenty of landscaping between us and the lot, so no noise from cars. We are on the fourth floor and it is very quiet.

We have 3 kids
13,4 and my baby girl who'll be 18 months when we go.
I didn't know you can request where to stay.
We will be driving again and we ether use our car to be t the parks rather than the buses, so which location would suit us better?
I love the look of the whole resort but other than theming, is there really a difference in rooms in casitas vs ranchos vs cabana
