Changing reservation from 4 to 3 people.

Our family of 4 has a WDW trip planned for September 2026. However, our daughter just got accepted to the Disney College Program starting in August, so we really won't know what meals she will be able to join us for until she gets her work schedule for the week. Can / should I just book all of our meals for 4 people and then just modify the reservation to 3 people as necessary when we know her schedule? Do restaurants generally allow this?

Just book everything for 4. I wouldn't even modify it down to 3 unless it was a prepaid meal.

Yes, they won't penalize you if you show up with three. A party of three would have to be seated at a four-top in most cases anyway. It won't be a problem.

As others have said, going from 4 to 3, don't do anything unless you had to prepay the meal. As long as 1 person shows up, you won't get charged a fee for those that don't show. up. Now going from 4 to 5 is another problem as it changes the table size.

Yeah the only issue then will be Hoop De Doo. We will just have to hope she can join us and, if not, I will call Disney and ask if they can refund one of us. I understand that it entails dropping the table and rebooking, but that they may be able to work it out on the phone.

For the HDD you can make the adjustment when you check in the night of your dinner. We never know when our adult DD will be able to join us so I always include her too. I change the night of our dinner 2-3 times a year over our visits.
