Resorts Busy During December?

Hello, I know the parks are crazy during December and that means the resorts will be booked. However, does everyone go to the park during the day? Just was looking for a couple resort days to relax and have some Disney Holiday relaxation. But if its still crazy busy at the resorts, then I will push till January. Specifically asking about RIverside, but any insight would be helpful! Thank you

Monorail resorts are busy, Wilderness is busy. I would not think Riverside would be super busy as resorts that are super close to a park where you get park people wondering over to look at holiday decorations.

We’ve been that timeframe a few times & are overlapping some of those days this year. I find it’s a good time to be there. Kind of the quiet before the storm.

We have stayed at Riverside at all times of the year, including December. The resort is usually quiet during the day no matter what time of year you are there. The vast majority of people are at the parks all day. You might see a crowd in the food court for breakfast. And the pools can be a bit busy in the summer. But December is a great time to be there.

The only crazy busy resort we have encountered is the Grand Floridian when the Gingerbread House is up. And the crowd at the Wilderness Lodge can make it a little unpleasant if you are staying at that resort.

@Tgarver16 I just checked bounceback availability for POR for your dates & every room category is available with that discount. By comparison, the only room category available with the discount the week before is a Royal room. To me that implies the resort has a lot more availability for your days since they’re still offering a good discount. Have a great trip!

Looking at Dec 15-19
I’ve been over that period and the resort hasn’t felt busier than usual until checking out. The thing to remember about Disney Resorts is they tend to run a crazy high capacity all the time so holidays are more about are non-resort guests visiting your hotel. WL or GF? That’s gonna be busy in the public areas, and if you want TS you should snag yourself an ADR but things like pools are still resort guest only.
