Well true, I don't see anything in the rack rate listings for Magic Kingdom view vs. Lake view on the Atrium Club, like it does for the other tower rooms. If they don't though, I think they will get some complaints. Otherwise a lot of people will skip the Atrium Club and book Magic Kingdom view tower. I guess we'll see...I would call the conciege there and find out what the procedure is going to be for getting the view you want.

I tell you what, I really enjoyed my weekend stay. We made plans last minute and stayed on the first floor north wing (not in main building) for $169/nt. The first floor room was 30 feet from where our car was parked and we sat in the chairs from the 'porch' area and watched the nightly fireworks. Absolutely no regrets staying 'outside' to save a bundle.

I need help from the Contemporary Resort experts. I've never stayed at CR before so I'm pretty clueless.
If I booked a standard room where would I most likely be?
Is $204 a good price for a standard during regular season?
I've heard that they're remodeling the rooms. Is it at all possible to get a newly remodeled room? Would I have to pay more?
Is the "tower" the part that the monorail runs through? Are the more expensive rooms in the tower?
Where are the wings and are they a good place to stay or is the tower really the best?

Sorry for all the questions, I hope I don't sound too silly.

I might be able to answer some of your questions . A standard room will be in the garden wings, either north or south. Part of the South Garden wing is under renovation right now, so I guess it would depend on when your trip is if you wanted to try for a renovated room . The tower is where the monorail runs through the CR, and the rates for these rooms are higher. Starting in January '06 there will be different rates for MK view and Bay Lake view. We've stayed in the North Garden wing once ( closer to the walkway to MK and the bus stop ), and the rest of our stays have been in the tower. If you can afford the tower, then go for it, you can't beat the view . The CR is my favorite resort- I'm going to be booking another stay there soon!

The standard rooms in the CR wings are IMHO nicer than the standard rooms at the AKL. But that's just my opinion.

Zandy, yes $204 a night is a good price for the CR during regular season. The rooms there are HUGE, they may be the largest deluxe rooms there. The wings are fine, plus, if you are in the north wing you are supposed to be able to walk easily to the MK. We have never tried it but may this next trip.

We loved the North Wing rooms because it's so much closer to MK and we walk. If you get a South Wing, you might be able to snag a renovated room, but who knows? I didn't find the North Wing decor to be bad. The rooms are huge. We prefer the lower level rooms with a patio since the upper floors in the wings don't have patios.

I never thought about walking, it looked far with a stroller with 2 small one's. We're runners so we are active, but it looked like about a half mile walk. I could be wrong - anyone else have an opinion on the distance from Contemporary to the Main Gate?

We have had friends that walked it, but then they are both runners. I agree about the distance, it looks far. But, having stayed at other deluxes taht share the bus and arrive via the entrance in frnt of the CR, it truly looks pretty short once you cross the road. It's not that far to the bus stops at the MK entrance, and we have walked to the bus stops from MK on numerous occasions. We may try it in OCtober, depending on how cool the weather is.

We have walked it several times with and without a stroller. We are not runners- and it took us about 10 minutes. It is a nice walk. And the monorail takes about that long, if not a little longer, because going to the MK the CR is the first stop. Monorail has to stop at TTC, Poly and GF before arriving at the MK.

We have stayed MANY times at the CR thru the years and the easy walk back and forth to the MK is one of the reasons to stay there! It is very do able even for littler ones.

My kids have all walked it from the age of about 3 and I have done it several times 7 - 8 months pregnant, too! We have had a stroller often, but my little ones usually enjoy the walk and either hold our hands or push their stroller.

The walk takes only between 5 and 10 minutes and is so nice & convenient when you stay until park closing and the line for the monorail is full down the whole ramp.

We're considering a stay at CR for 12-23 to 12-26-2005.

How kid-friendly is CR? Our kids are 11 and 14. How is the pool?

Is the extra price for a concierge room ($275 vs. $335) worth it? How likely would we be to get a renovated room if we book tower or tower concierge?

Hi, I can help you with the kid friendly thing. I have 3 kids ages 5, 9, and 15 and the CR is their all time favorite WDW deluxe resort. They love that place better than the Poly, GF, YC/BC, Swan/Dolphin.

The arcade is the best, the pool - so/so. It does have a good slide, just isn't as nice looking and lush as the other pools. The restaurants are their favorites, the stores are the best......they just love the feeling of excitement on the 4th floor concourse. If you get a MK view, it is just fantastic. We also really like being able to walk b/f to the MK.

We have always stayed concierge. We use it for the planning (making those tough advanced dining ressies) and also for the quick bfast. My kids like their bfast offerings better than Poly or GF. I have to agree. We have not stayed at the CR since last Thanksgiving, but they had more choices and kid friendly foods. For us, the conveniences are worth the price for the club level room.

I am not sure about the renovated rooms, but I think the club floor has moved from 12 to 10 and 10 will have the new rooms by the time you visit.
