DISNEY'S CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information Thread!

I just switched my reservation to the Contemporary Standard Wing and now I am wondering if I did the wrong thing. I have read about some really bad run down rooms. Do you think that any of the rooms might be done by the end of September? :confused3 We had originally booked a King Room at the POFQ but I couldn't resist moving the Contemporary.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We are staying at contemporary 6th oct to 10 oct after our wedding at disney. We have requested 7th floor magic kingdom view. We have recived letter from ' virgin holidays' who we have booked with telling us that there is work on the South Garden wing and there will be no inconvienince to us. From this post it seems like there is work all over. Does anyone know if this floor has been renovated or should we try to change. We have paid lot of money for the four nights and are really worried that we have made a mistake and might not be worth it.

I don't think they are at the 7th floor yet, but who knows where they will be when you get there. Bring your letter from your travel agent and ask them where the construction is when you check in. If you'll be able to hear it from the 7th floor, ask if they can move you. Explain it's your honeymoon.

I have no idea where the rehab will be at that time. However, I was on the 11th foor 7/16-7/21 with work being done on the 10th. Work is done from
9 AM-5PM according to a note in our room. We always left for the parks by 8:30 AM so heard nothing in the mornings. We got back to the room for a rest everyday around 3:30 - 4:00 PM and could hear a little work being done every now and then until 5:00 PM. I did not find it objectionable and could even get a quick nap.

It's good to know that they are keeping true to their word and not having noise before 9 and after 5. I'm concerned about that during our trip. There's nothing worse than spending tons of money for a vacation and having it ruined by construction at the hotel.

Hi,
Once again I am struggling with picking the perfect resort for our August 06 stay. It sounds like Contemporary offers good transportation. Does it share a bus with another resort?
Do you think North wing will be renovated by next August?

CR does share a bus with Polynesian.

Just some info:

The 14th floor concierge is now called The Tower Club. There is no rehab planned for 14 at this time. The 12th floor concierge (light) is now called The Atruim Club. !2th floor concierge is moving to floor 10 August 22nd. The 10th floor has the first rehabed rooms in the tower! The 12th floor will be finished in January and The Atrium Club will move back up there then. There will be a lounge with full (night) concierge service. I would assume prices are going up then as well.

The South Garden Wing is also under construction right now. DVC was rumored to be going into the North Garden Wing but they are still going back and forth and they are pushing for someone to just make a decision!

People have posted picts of the 9th floor undergoing rehab, I wonder once they finish the 9th, will they stop working their way down and just do the 12th, or will other lower level floors get done too?

Hi Patricia-sorry I missed you while we were there! please say hello to Janet and Al from the Fay family-they were exceptional during our stay :) I'm already planning another trip to the CR for next year, and can't wait to see the new rooms :)

We just got back on Sunday from 7 nights in the South Wing - Wing Garden Room. The room was excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. They were working on the building on the wing that tees off from the South Wing lobby (all three floors). We didn't hear any construction noise during the day, and there was nothing at all at night. We spend lots of time at the pool and you could see and hear some construction going on, but it was not bad at all.

When they start work on the other corridors in the building, they will have to provide a way to enter the building other than from the sidewalk near the main building.

We really enjoyed our stay at the CR and would stay there again, especially in the summer. They have a great pool.

I have been back and forth and back and forth changing my reservations. I am trying to figure out if the upgrade to CR is worth the money. We were booked at POR with 2 rooms. However we upgraded to 2 rooms at the CR. The price difference is 1300.00 dollars to switch resorts. We can only afford the standard wing and I am very nervous about these rooms..

My children are 4 and 1 and the access to the monorail is practically priceless... Not to mention my DS (4) is crazy about the monorail....

Please tell me I did the right thing....

Luv2trav- you will love the convenience of the location of the CR, especially with your little ones :sunny: I'm trying to figure out how I can sneak in a quick trip to the CR next June for my birthday ( I'm sure I'll manage somehow  )

You will be very happy. The rooms are a great size and the monorail is well worth the money. We went this last Dec with our 3 kids 12,6 and 3 and stayed in the south wing. We loved it!!!

We just booked CR yesterday. I'm a little nervous too, just b/c of the $$$$. WOW! But we really, really, wanted to be close to MK. Our DD will be almost 2 (we leave 9/5, she turns 2 9/16). After going around and around we finally just said to heck with it and pay for the convenience. I think it'll be great to be able to walk to and from MK. I think you did the right thing, it's exactly what we did!

BTW, anyone have anymore info/pictures of the junior suites? It's what we booked and info on them is hard to come by.

I requested a patio room but if by some chance we get 2nd or 3rd floor rooms do the windows/doors open to view like a balcony? I know there isn't a balcony but we want to open the windows/doors sometimes...

Yes, the patio doors slide open, but there is no balcony.
