If anyone can provide a link to photos of the contemporary garden wing, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks.

My daughter and I have to move from AKL, savannah view.
We will be in Disney 7/16-7/23.
She is disappointed since she loves animals, so I am trying to make the right decision on where we should move.
Our first choice was polynesian, but nothing is available.
We have been offered a room in the contemporary garden wing, I think with a garden view.
Any input on this area is appreciated. We've never stayed at the contemporary, so I don't know a lot about the hotel.
Have all the rooms been renovated?
Do you feel this is an acceptable offer considering we've had reservations for almost a year?
Any comments on the garden wing are appreciated.

How do you feel about the contemporary verses a resort like the Yacht or Beach Club? Assuming they would have an opening.

Thanks.

Since you had a view room at AKL, try asking for a view room at CR. if you cant see animals then ask to see Cinderella's castle!

I could post pictures of an MK Tower room, I think the insides look the same or you can page up and see them. Mine is the pics of the bathroom and my DS sitting on the bed I think in a Phillies shirt. Gotta go for now but if you want me to repost pcis I can tomorrow!

I have a question about construction at CR. Is there any going on there? Or does anyone know if there will be any in say late Feb. early Mar? I have a friend who would like to stay at CR for her children's birthdays in "08". Her son loves trains so they want to stay here but do not want to have construction noise.

Thanks in advance!

Debbie

Here is the schedule of renovations for the Contemporary, so I hope this helps?

August 2007 - Newly renovated Fantasia Shop will re-open.

June 11, 2007 through November 2007 - The Lobby will undergo partitioned refurbishments to update the area's image and decor.

July 2007 through October 2007 - The resort's grounds will undergo partitioned refurbishments to install new landscaping and re-route existing guests paths.

July 30, 2007 through April 2008 - The Food & Fun Center will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as a new table service option, "The Wave". During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

April 2008 through August 14, 2008 -The Concourse Steak house will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as the new Counter Service location for the resort. During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

Hi. I do not envy your predicament. To have planned a trip for a year and now have the rug pulled out from under you must be incredibly disappointing.
All the rooms at the CR have been renovated. Here is a link to what they look like http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/contnew4.jpg I think they look really, really nice. I am spending part of my upcoming trip there. One really special thing about the CR is that you can WALK to the Magic Kingdom. This is the only resort from which you can do that :wizard: Also, as I'm sure you know, the monorail runs right through the hotel!
On the down side, the hotel is still undergoing construction. When I booked my stay I was told that the Food and Fun Center would be closed as well as the laundry facilities and something else... I can't remember what. I am staying on the concierge level and won't need the access to a food court, so that didn't bother me (also my stay is only 2 nights); but if you're going to be there one whole week, where will you go for drinks and snacks? Can someone help answer that? I looked at the rack rates and Garden Wing with Garden View is actually a tiny bit more expensive than a savannah view room at AKL so that part is "fair" but I would say you might tell them you want the Yacht Club or Beach Club if you
~really prefer Epcot and MGM Studios
~don't want to be bothered with any construction
~the YC/BC do have a fabulous pool, Stormalong Bay, consistently voted the "best pool on property"
~prefer a quiet, more elegant resort to the hustle and bustle (and fun!) of a resort like the Contemporary

How old is your daughter? If she is very young, you might want to stick with the CR for its proximity to the MK.

Again, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this:sad1:

We'll be there for a couple of the same days!! I wondered how many people the AK move would affect. We'll be in the Contemporary garden wings for our wedding & honeymoon as will many of our guests and family members (from July 10-19.) We're excited because we've never stayed there and the new rooms look AWESOME, but I can say that if I had a choice between the CR and the Yacht or Beach Club, I would choose the Y&B Club. I've always wanted to stay there, but it cost (with out wedding discount) about $60 more per night and after you factor in 9 nights it was going to be too much!! Good luck with your decision!!

How long will the food court be closed???? Where else can we go for a snack in the CR?????

How about asking for the BC or YC so your daughter will atleast have the pool to look foward too! We were just talking about this last night and that would be my only acceptable alternative!

HI Johnsonet!
We've chatted on the GF thread over the last week!

I switched our August quickie trip from YC GVC to CR Atrium club!I just did it on Sunday night after I looked on line and saw that something opened up! Also, my kids said that they didn't really want to go to SAB but wanted to go to Typhoon Lagoon instead!! The main reason I booked YC was for SAB! So, I decided if something opened up at CR or GF that I would switch - and it did! we haven't stayed at CR for about 5 years so the kids are excited and it was the first place I stayed with my family in 1973 so it has a special place in my heart!

Anyway, supposedly there will be a fast food place set up by the Outer Rim but i'm not sure how extensive the food will be! Did you remember what the other thing is that will be closed in August?
I figured since we will be on the 12th floor, the construction, etc. won't affect us much as far as food. Especially since it will be going on at the ground level floor.

Happy planning!:)

We just got back from Poly last week and while we were there I was on the boat from Poly to MK and I was looking at the cont and I was wondering since when (or if I haven't been on in a while so I don't know the latest rumors) they build the big C-shaped tower in the north wing place this will throw the tower off balance so is there plans to also demolish the South Wing and build another C-shaped tower to even things out? Also since I have no short term memory anymore someone remind me had they renovated the north wings before they were tore down? Any info would be appreciated.:)

We were just told Saturday night, by our waiter at the California Grill, that they're building a Vacation Club building there that will be about 1 foot shorter but much wider then the Contemporary. I was pretty disappointed to hear this because, even though they're making it shorter, it's still going to be a "blemish" on the Contemporary site. JMO.

dce123, at the AKL you had the very best view available. The Garden Wing room at the CR is nice, but it is NOT the best view available by any means. The Tower MK view or even Bay Lake view both would be much better. If they cannot get you into the Tower, then I would suggest YC or BC unless the monorail would be a plus for you and your DD. I hope it all works out for you!

Two specific room questions, not sure if it matter but for now we are booked in the Garden Wing although we may upgrade to the tower if we can get a good deal.

1) Outlets? There was a nice power strip over the desk at the Poly, 5 or 6 outlets if I remember right. Does CR have the same?

2) Over the door hangers. Can anyone tell me if the doors at CR would work with an over the door hanger? I took on to the Poly but it did not work because of the way the door closed.

Thanks in advance!

1) No. There's a regular 2 outlet plug beside the desk. At least that's all we had in our MK view room.

2) I don't think so. The doors on the bathroom slide and the doors to the closet close too tightly.

I agree with the PP. We hung ours over th towel rack in the bathroom.
