I debated booking garden wing or tower for our upcoming trip but went with garden since the price difference allowed us to book another night. I never expect an upgrade since it never happens to me, but has it happened to anyone else? There's just a small glimmer of hope that we'll get that upgrade. We'll be there 11/25 for 3 nights.

In May of 2000 while checking in my family & I was told that we had been upgraded to the Tower Club (14th floor) from the Atrium Club (12th floor), which was a very nice & unexpected surprise to start off our WDW vacation. At the time we thought the 14th floor was the best thing ever. Back then as side from also offering the continental breakfast & afternoon snacks, they were the only Concierge floor to offer hor'dourves at 5:00 PM, desert at 7:00 PM & not to mention they also had Beer & Wine, while the 12th floor only had the morning breakfast & afternoon snacks & soda's. Today as everyone should know by the 12th & 14th floor offer the things in terms of food & drinks, the only difference being the suite rooms on the 14th floor & standard rooms being more expensive then the 12th floor.

Could someone please post a link or direct me to recent pictures of the 14th Floor rooms and/or suites? We will be there for New Years Eve and I was really hoping the rooms would be renovated. From what I'm reading here, they weren't completely remodeled. :confused3

I have been one who has not believed the rumors that DVC was being added to the Contemporary. Even with the drawings that have been posted, I still believed that the Contemporary might be getting a new tower but not DVC. This link is to a permit granted to Disney for water management of the construction trailer site at the old landing strip. That in of its self is no big deal but in the permit they refer to the project as DVC @ the Contemporary. Unless someone has taken the time to create a false web site and false documents I have to believe that DVC is coming to the Contemporary. What do you think?

We were at CR one week ago. While I (DW) was in the restroom, DH struck up a conversation with the CM at the DVC desk. Then I came out and we continued talking. I said something to her about the "rumor" of DVC at CR. She said yes that is the "rumor". Interestingly, when we returned to our room, DH told me that while I was in the restroom, she told him there will be DVC at CR (did not preface it with "rumor"). Other DVC CM's we spoke to were more cautious when discussing future DVC's.

This document seems to show that it will be a reality, IMHO.

Of course there will be people who will say that Disney could change their plans

But with the success of DVC & popularity of Monorail resorts, I don't see why they would not do it.

When you wish upon a star...

We're staying here later this month and my mom asked if it has ceiling fans. I told her all deluxe rooms do but then when I looked at the floor plan, it didn't show a ceiling fan. Did I tell her correctly?

Thanks

Just checking in as we will be staying Magic Kingdom view tower this coming May for 10 nights. I am so excited, I requested to have an upper level floor room so that we can have the awesome view.

As I have told other people who have requested a high floor on the Magic Kingdom side, if you do not get one not to feel disappointed. A few years ago my family & I had a Magic Kingdom view on the 5th floor, which was just as an amaizing view as we had got on the 14th floor. In my opinion they are all the same no matter what floor your on, but again that's what I think.

I also think some people might think the view from the 5th floor is a little deceiving. I think a lot of people forget when looking at the Contemporary the rooms in the Tower are built high up because dont' forget that there is the 4th floor concourse level, the 3rd floor health club/fitness center, 2nd floor with all the ballrooms & the of course the 1st floor being the lobby.

We were on the 9th floor Tower, with MK view, and there wasn't a ceiling fan. We actually commented to each other about it. We usually stay at BC, and have always had one there.

We didn't have a ceiling fan either in our Atrium Club room. I missed it as we had 2 at the GF.

Friends of mine just came home from the CR 12th fl. Same as the 14th fl except for the rooms. 14th floor renv. done.We will be there in Jan.(12th fl).

So the North wing is completely closed yes?

I am checking in in less than two weeks for my honeymoon!!!
Just curious!

I just wanted to pop in and say that the CR IPO must be working a little better. I emailed last night about getting a breakfast ADR before we checked out on 12/24, and WOW, I had an answer this morning first thing! I hope everyone is getting that kind of turn around time now.

That sounds like very good news.

Hey everyone! In response to the earlier poster's question about upgrades, I recently got back from an absolutely magical trip from 10/28-11/01. This was my first deluxe resort and I was nervous that I had made the wrong choice. Let me tell you, I have never enjoyed a resort as much as I did the Contemporary.
I booked a Tower Magic Kingdom View. During check-in, the very nice CM (from China) said that our room wasn't ready but she could tell us what floor we would be on. (It was only 9:00am). She told me the 12th floor! I would not have known to be so excited except for reading on these boards that the 12th floor was the Atrium Club aka "Concierge Light". :woohoo:
I literally started cheering and jumping up and down (which totally embarassed my teenager :rotfl: ) and I had to tell her why I was so excited to be on the 12th floor.
I would have never been able to afford such oppulence. It was first class all the way and the room was breathtaking and the beds and pillows amazing! :cloud9:
When I opened the drapes to see the balcony, there was the castle! I literally laid in my bed every night and watched the castle change colors as I fell asleep. Now that's the next best thing to Heaven! :goodvibes
Thanks to these boards I also knew that they played the Wishes fireworks soundtrack on channel 20 of our room's TV so we watched the fireworks from our balcony - a front row seat - munching on the wonderful pastries/desserts from the Atrium Club lounge.
It just doesn't get much better than that!
Usually the resort room is just a place for us to crash and nurse our aching feet but at the Contemporary it was a constant part of the Magic because I never felt removed from the Magic Kingdom!
I hope that we can afford to stay there again!

I am happy you had a wonderful & great surprise getting upgraded to the Atrium Club. My family & I have stayed there quite a few times, in fact next month we will be having another stay on the Atrium Club & I get excited each & everytime, because I love staying up there.
