DarlingDumbo - thank you for posting the amazing pictures. I had forgotten how beautiful the view was! You know, next spring will be our second year there and having that view certainly spoils you for choosing to stay somewhere else, doesn't it? Thanks again!

You are so welcome! The view was truly amazing. I really don't want to stay anywhere else now!

Only two more days until our next Disney adventure. This will be our first CR stay and we are so excited!

Do they have any programs loaded onto them or just the internet access? i.e word or excel? Thanks, Marriedmyprince
It's funny you mention that. They don't have anything like Word or Excel loaded onto the computer that you would find on a normal one, however when my Dad checked an e-mail there was a file attachment from Word and he was able to open it. So I was kind of surprised about that.

You can use hotmail, yahoomail and other web based mail sites. They do block sites that use large bandwidth or that may be inappropriate. I don't believe they have other programs loaded onto the computers.
When it comes to sites that are blocked two of them I tried to get on was Youtube and Wikipedia, however a message came up saying can not access this site. However I had never thought the reason could be their bandwidth, which could be the case for Wikipedia. Youtube I can see them blocking, however I think they are good at not letting people load disgusting or inappropriate movies moives.

Not sure if any recent pics from the contemporary construction have been posted but this was what I saw last weekend.

mr.mike,
When I was there a few weeks ago they are were in the begining stages of building the new store on the 4th floor, however in the picture I have they did not completely cover the sides and put the sings around it which say how they are renovating it for our future enjoyment. So here is what it looked like prior to the picture you got and here is a picture of them working on the area of the 4th floor, where the temporary counter service location is going to be.

I was surprised to see that middle section being worked on. Won't it feel so crowded with a store built right in the middle of the floor? And on the counter service service location they were working on the tiles on the floor.

Hi,
I'm trying to plan an overnight stay in the Presidential suite before our cruise in 2008, and I'm hoping some CR experts will be able to answer a few questions!

Our cruise is on Dec. 26th, 2008. Will construction be done by then?

I've read that the Presidential suite has a park view, and the Vice-Presidential has a Bay view. Are these the only differences?

Does concierge (club) service come with booking a suite?

Is the suite on the 14th floor? I've read conflicting info on this; some info says it's on the 14th, and some says it's in the wing.

I'm interested in a suite with two separate bedrooms. We'll have 5 people in our party, and no one wants to sleep on a sofa bed, so the one-bedroom is out.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

This is an e-mail response I received from WDW regarding the construction. I have a ressie for the first week of Dec. and asked if the construction in the concourse would be completed by early Dec. I received a canned response which really did not answer my question.

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

We anticipate that these exciting enhancements within the resort will be completed by late 2008. An exact completion date has not yet been determined.

The exciting enhancements will be made in the lobby, merchandise shops, dining locations and other areas of the resort. As this effort
progresses over the next two years, every effort will be made to
maintain a magical guest experience. There may be occasions where guest will hear and see work in motion.

If you still wish to cancel or reschedule your vacation, please contact our one of our vacation specialist at 407-828-8101. They will be able to provide alternative dates and location.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

The 2 suites are on the 14th floor and include CL access. And, yes, the difference is the views. You better call now - could already be booked.

I wish I could post pictures from this in-room computer, but I've been watching the progress of construction over the last 5 days. Today they erected a large crane/cantilever that reaches as high as the main tower. It's secured into a concrete footer at the bottom, so expect it to be there a while.

You can also see a definite footprint of the semi-circular building seen in the artists renderings. They are working from about 7:00 am - 6:00 pm daily (except Sunday).

I'm sure others will post pictures before I get back, but it's been interesting to see how fast they're working.

Today they erected a metal structure that reaches to about the 10th - 12th story of the main building (I can still look down on it from the 14th floor, but not by much). It's not large, but it looks like they may put up others over the next few days.

A few weels ago when I was looking at the pins on the 4th floor I was speaking with a Cast Member who was worked at the Contemporary for a long time and she has remembered me from my previous stays there. Anyway last December before it was announced she told me the arcade would be moving to where the Fantasia store use to be. This was when everyone was saying I will believe it when I hear about it from WDW, or see it for myself. Well as we all know that happened. Anyway she did tell me 100% that the area where the North Garden Wing building use to be, will be a Disney Vacation Club building. I realize this was not an official announcement or that I expect you to believe me, however this Cast Member was right in the past when it came to the arcade, so I don't see why she is not going to be right again.

I'm thrilled to report that I was able to book the Presidential Suite at the CR for Dec. 26, 2008! I'm not too concerned about the construction, but I'll be reading all the updates that I can. I expect the inside of the CR to be done by Christmas 2008, and we shall see about the new building.

Congragulations on booking an amaizing room, I am sure you and you're family will love it. I think you would also want to know that according to the schedule of renovations for the Contemporary, by December 2008 all the renovations should be finished inside. So that means the Waive would be open on the 1st floor, Chef Mickey's Express on the 4th floor, the new store in the middle of the 4th floor, the check-in area and I would assume the Contemporary Grounds would move back to their original area.

The only renovations that I would assume would still be happening is the building of the future Disney Vacation Club building where the North Garden Wing building use to be. However that renovation will have no effect on you're stay and anyone else who stays in the Tower and South Garden Wing, since it is taking place outside.

any current news on the Food & Fun center? We arrive next Wed for 4 nights and I really need for it to be operational still for my SANITY! (long convention hours, cranky mother going along)

When I was there a few weeks ago a manager of the Food & Fun Center said they would be closing on September 9th, so that is when the temporary location would be open on the 4th floor. Since it was in the process of being built when I was there, I could tell this Cast Member knew what she was talking about.

Whew! Thanks for the heads-up. I can't imagine dealing with my mom for 4 days griping about the "lack of food". :sad2:

I got a call last week from someone in GR saying the same thing. Can't wait to hear if the info is true or not.
