We will be staying at CR for the first time Dec. 15-21 I wanted to know since there will be a temp food center what would be the easiest place to go to and get like the waffle or pancake breakfast platters. CS wise not interested in Table service. i don't know what the route on the Monorail is for the resorts and if one has a better CS location than the others. Is there any CS places for breakfast inside the parks?:confused3

I emailed disney about the new temp and go at the CR and this is the response I got:

"Dear Kendra,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

The quick service location is Tempo Grab-N-Go which will offer cold,
fresh salads and sandwiches, fresh fruit and other quick service
selections. You will be able to fill and refill your refillable mugs
at
this location within Disney's Contemporary Resort.

We hope this information is helpful and we look forward to your visit.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number
if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Ronda Kendall

Do you think they are telling the truth about the refillable mugs??? I hope so, I will be so happy about that if we will be able to!!:woohoo:
I hope that is true for any who will be staying at the Contemporay after September 9th, however I have a feeling that information in the e-mail is wrong. The manager of the Food & Fun Center told me there are no drink machines on the 4th floor that they can hook up and all they will be selling are drinks in bottles. Now of course things may have changed since I was told that information, however the this Cast Member sounded like she knew what she was talking about. Personally I would trust a Cast Member who works at the Contemporary in a managment position and not one who works at WDW Online Communications.

Captin Cook's at the Polynesian has Mickey Waffle topped with strawberry sauce and Gasparilla Grill & Games at the Grand Floridian has both a Mickey Waffle and Pancakes for breakfast. Also both those locations are counter service.

I'm thrilled to report that I was able to book the Presidential Suite at the CR for Dec. 26, 2008! I'm not too concerned about the construction, but I'll be reading all the updates that I can. I expect the inside of the CR to be done by Christmas 2008, and we shall see about the new building.

Congratulations! I have never ever been able to get a suite for the dates I want, no matter how far in advance I've tried!! The CR can be VERY difficult to get ressies for sometimes, even for a standard room. Maybe because you only needed the one night made it easier. Enjoy!

Hi all --

SO excited to have found this board! We're booked into the CR for January 5-12, 2008 with two Tower MK rooms. My question is: how well can you really see the Cinderella Castle from the CR? Some of the photographs I've seen make it look like you can almost touch it from the balcony, while in others, it looks like a dot on the horizon, with the CR parking lot as the view's most prominent feature. Since we have 3 small children (ages 2, 4 and 6), it would be great to see the fireworks from our room if they can't hold out long enough to see them in the park. However, it's a lot of money if the action is really distant, especially since the pictures of the less-expensive Bay Lake view seem lovely. Any input is much appreciated!!

Once you are in the room you will see that the view of the Magic Kingdom is fine the way it is, so you won't even notice the parking lot. As for why some pictures of the Magic Kingdom look closer then other pictures, my guess is the people who took the zoomed in for a closer shot.

Thanks for the tip. I figured some of them had to be zoomed, but of course, only someone who's been there in person can tell how much. I've often found that it's impossible to judge a view solely on photographs. I took what I thought would be a great shot of a breathtaking mountain view at Monticello this summer, but on film, it looked like a blue horizon with a line of shrubs in front of it.

I'll be in the tower in Oct with a bay lake view.
I usually order from the garden grocer when I stay in my DVC..this is a spur of the moment unplanned trip, 1st time at the CR (or in fact, any Disney hotel in a LLOONNGG time)...so...a few questions:

Im trying to plan for some breakfasts in the "hotel room"..

1. Do you usually bring coffee/filters/milk for the coffee pot..or..can you get it there??
2. What kind of filters, basket/cone?
3. Im guessing the fridge is decent size for a few bottles of H2O, milk, yogurt?? Then there's the silverware issue??

Would appreciate any other breakfast/snack tips you might have. :goodvibes

Thanks in advance !!:grouphug:

I am in the Garden Wing this October. What details can anyone share?
Far walk to main building/monorail?
Nice rooms?
Pool?

I cant remember about the coffee pot. I dont drink coffee but DH used it and said it was good coffee. It was smaller one .Hope that helps a little.

In the fridge we put a gallon size milk, Pepsi cans (my morning caffeine:lmao: ), water and juice bags. The fridge did not have a freezer section. I only wanted to put my freezer packs in there so we could use them in a small cooler for the parks and we were out of luck. Except I did bring gallon size storage bags that I filled at the ice machine and used those in my cooler instead. Worked well.

DH usually ran down to the food and fun center to get cereal each morning for the boys and they either came in a bowl or he would grab a bowl and plastic ware when he checked out. I dont know if you could run down and grab some or if that location is even available anymore. I would probably pack my own or oder them from Garden Grocer too given the construction.

I hope some of that helps! Have fun!

Non-zoomed pictures from Sept 2006. We were on the 12th floor, 3 rooms from the end closest to the MK. Amazing View!

The coffee pot was a 5 cup flat bottom maker when we were there Sept 2006. It had filters and packs of coffee.

DH is a big coffee drinker and supplies were replenished each day for him to have 3-4 cups of coffee (coffee, filters, sugar, powdered cream, stirrers, napkins), and tea bags were also provided. That held him until room service arrived (usually less than 30 minutes). It was no problem to run down to Contemporary Grounds for cappucino, though, which is often what I did. I also grabbed some half-and-half at the Food & Fun Center to keep in the fridge since I can't stand powdered creamer. No need to take supplies like you do for a DVC resort.

If Housekeeping doesn't leave enough or if you prefer a certain flavor of tea (they use Twinings, which comes in a variety of flavors), just leave a nice note. I've done that and they've always complied.

Hey everyone! I'm at the CR right now and really enjoying it. Just wanted to let everyone know (in case it wasn't posted) that Contemporary Grounds re-opened today.

I also have to say that we got upgraded from garden wing/std. view to Tower Bay View! I was shocked, surprised and so excited. I really love it.

Did you see them open for business in the convention center? When I was there this month that is where I was told it would be, so just wondering if you can confirm this?

Here's some info I just received by email from disney regarding the refillable mugs at the temporary counter when the food n fun centre closes.

Some people were concerned that the mugs would not be available at CR - especially when they are included in the Deluxe Dining Plan for 2008.

Here's the reply I got to the query...

"Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

You will be happy to know that while the Food N Fun Centre is being
refurbished, Tempo Grab & Go will be offering the refillable mugs at
Disney's Contemporary Resort.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us."
