Has anyone heard about the construction on the Grand Canyon Concourse? I've heard that the entire central section between the arcade and Bayview gifts has been walled off within the last two to three days. The new Fantasia store is being constructed and it bascailly will take up the entire central area on the north side of the concourse. There is also a large section walled off next to the escalators where construction of the Tempo Grab and Go quick service location is going.

Sally from WDW Guest Relations called me today re the refillable mugs on the DXDDP and the F&FC closing. She said that they were currently figuring out where they would have refills for the mugs as they would be part of the DX plan and that it would be taken care of. If not, she said that WDW would "take care of it" (I'm presuming credit the mug $$ or offer bottled drinks) and not to worry. I was impressed someone called personally. Every day the kids ask if it is February yet!

The new Fantasia store is being built in the middle of the 4th floor between the Bay View Gifts, arcade and Sundries store. You are also correct that the temporary counter service location is being built by the esclators just by the DVC info desk. Incase you did not see them before here are two pictures of that renovation I took when I was there, with my camera phone.

Denise it's great that you got a call back from WDW about this subject, so I hope everything works out for you. I will also say again the Cast Member who I spoke to at the Food & Fun Center who was some sort of a manger told me with no hesitation that the only drinks they would have is to be sold in bottles, so not sure if that gives you any more info or not?

She said with the addition of the mugs as part of the plan, they were "investigating". I got the impression that we would have "options" (ask for a refund, etc) on the mugs, so I'm not worrying. Just didn't want to pay for something we can't use. Thanks again for checking, and I'm sure the CM was correct. I'll just have to wait and see how the CR handles it.

Hi! I'm excited to subsribe to this thread! My husband and I are staying (adults only, no kids this time) in a King room on the 14th floor in November for three nights. I have not told him yet, I'm going to surprise him!

We took our first no kids trip in July, split Yacht Club/Boardwalk, both club level. We had a lot of fun doing adult things, like golf (okay, I didn't play but I did get to drive the cart!) and Pleasure Island.

We will be at the Poly in 2 weeks with our family of 6, and then in October I take my daughter, turning 13, and my cousin, also almost 13, for a couple of days at the Grand Floridian. Year of Disney for us so far!!!

So, I didn't even know what I booked quite yet when I booked the 14th floor...I wanted Contemporary, and concierge, and that was what was available, so I grabbed it...and found out later how cool it is! Now I can't wait! And so far, Becky at the Itinerary planning department has been great.

My plan is to tell my husband a few weeks before we go that we are going away but not where. I won't tell him until I have to! Then I'm not telling him where we are staying or what we are doing. And even when we get to the Contemporary, I'm not saying a word about the awesome spot I was lucky enough to stumble onto!

I'm trying to finalize plans for an upcoming trip in September. We are currently booked for 7 nights at the GF and now need to extend our stay by 1 day. With no availability at the GF, I was looking into the Contemporary. I was wondering if anyone had any info and or pics of a Garden wing - deluxe room.

I'm so excited must share with all!! Finally- after checking every day several times a day for the last month- I got my 2 rooms on the 12th floor tower concierge level!! I had lagoon view grand floridian but my dh and I stayed at the contemporary 12th floor for my bday last sept and it was a perfect room/trip...this time going with the kids and my mom:banana: !

I just remembered that when I was at the Contemporary I forgot to tell everyone that the Food & Fun Center had got rid of the Frozen Coke machine. I guess it won't matter since they are now set to close on September 9th, however just a heads up to anyone going there before that day not to be disappointed.

That's great news. It pays to keep checking. :yay:

1,000 apologies if this has been asked, which I am sure it has. We are staying at the CR next year and I want a refrigerator in our room. Should I have requested it when I booked or is there one in there already? Thanks for your help.

Every room in the Tower and South Garden Wing has a refrigerator, so no need to request one.

Thanks so much the answer, oh and I enjoy reading all your posts about the CR. I am looking so forward to staying there especially since the rooms have been redone, the pictures of them look so nice. Thanks Again :)

Some questions, please.

I am inquiring about end of May 2008.

What type of renovations will be going on at that time?

Is it impossible to get a standard view wing room anymore? Whenever i put in dates it only come up with a garden view?

Thanks,

Just some info on comparing resort rates for families of 5.

I called S/D today for a quote for May 2008 and was shocked when she said for a family of five we would be in the Dolphin with 2 double beds. I was assuming all along the Swan allowed 5 with the 2 queens? My AAA quote was $194.50 per night w/o tax. Plus $9 per day self parking, $12 per day frig and $13.95 internet per 24 hours and $25 a day for a rollaway for the 5th person.. Ouch, I could totally get over all of the extra’s compared to CR rate but for double beds, yuck. We always sleep the 3 girls in one bed and DH and I in another. I wouldn’t have the heart to put someone on a roll away. Without comparing internet service, which I think is $9.95 at CR, the $ difference would be about $40 per night between Dolphin and CR wing standard with Dolphin being the cheapest. I think the deciding factor for us would be the queen size beds at CR.

Are your girls young enough not to mention one of them? I know some DISers will be upset at the suggestion, but if one is young enough (they must be small to sleep together in a queen) then it is not like Disney resort where you often have Key to the World. At Swan, with 2 queens, your tkts would be separate :)

Don't forget CR also has the daybed that turns into a twin size bed. Our 2 dd's actually fought over who was going to "GET" to sleep on the daybed. little kids are so funny!! Good luck whatever you decide!

Thanks,

That's funny that you can't find a std. view room because we're staying in a std. view starting next Wed (:yay: ). I've been monitoring room availability at the CR to see how crowded it is and get a feel for what the opportunity might be to upgrade. And the only type of room available during our stay is - std. view garden wing! I don't even think there are that many of them.

So now I'm a bit worried that nobody is booking them. Do they know something that I don't?

WHAT!!! No frozen coke?:scared1: That's it, vacation cancelled;)

Seriously, I am sorry to hear this. We have loved having that in the past. For us, it made buying the refillable mugs worthwhile.

I guess since we aren't going until Sept. 9 it wouldn't have mattered anyhow. Bummer.

Thanks for all the info CR.
