Can someone help me a little with best transportation methods and times?

CR to MK: Walk or Mono, I know that one!
CR to Epcot: Mono to TTC, then Mono to Epcot. How long does this take?
CR to HS: Bus from CR the best option? What about coming back home, I've heard maybe it's better to take a more frequent MK bus from HS, and then walk to CR?
CR to AK: Same as HS, bus to AK best option? What about return trip, better to bus to MK and then walk?

Also, what is the order that the resort buses go as far as stopping at other resorts? For instance, does the HS bus go: HS, CR, Poly, GF, then HS. Or, is it some reverse of that...?

Can't help you with order, but the following website does a great job detailing the various ways to get from place to place inside the World, as well as time for each: www.ourlaughingplace.com - just click on the "transportation wizard" link.

I've looked at that before as well. I had just heard that it wasn't very accurate, and wondered if there were any other first hand experiences! Thanks for the link though!

I have always done the cash ressie, because we are not owners. At 11 months you should be fine.

I have poked around for future dates and since VGF opened there appears to be more availability at BLT.

Lastly on page 1 kook has work2plays's thread about views etc at BLT! I memorized the room numbers lol. BUT! When I check in I know exactly where I am. :thumbsup2

We like the "outside c" because of the pie shaped rooms and privacy. Others like the "inside" due to no parking lot view.

Just as long as I get a 2br, not a lock off, and a studio at 11 months I will be happy. Location doesn't matter as much since we are traveling with 12 people next year.

Hi, all! Just booked today for May 30-June 7th in CR in the Garden Wing!

Me (Susan), DH (Clint) and DD (Eden-5)
My Mother, Father
Brother, SIL and their DD (also 5)

This will be the first time for our 5-year-old princesses and my parent's last visit was in 1989 (offsite). None of us have ever stayed onsite before and it seems like CR is ideal with the little girls.

Should I start reading this thread from the very beginning?
Nice to join you.

First post has all the important info. Anything you want to know that you don't see there, ask away!!!

Just realized that I never booked ME for our trip when DH asked me where the tags were. :scared1: We leave SATURDAY! :woohoo:

So, I called in a panic and we are all set--just need to get our luggage ourselves and bring it to the bus. The CM couldn't have been nicer, so I just thought I'd share that it's easy and possible to add ME late in the game.

It's been a pretty crazy start of school. . . can't wait to check in for our first ever CR stay!

WDWKOOK - Thanks for looking around. The trees I'm referring to were in the first floor check-in lobby. Maybe 7 or 8 feet tall.

I plan on scanning the signatures here on the DIS to directly ask people who stayed at the Contemporary in late 1999. I'm sure someone has a picture or two of these trees! We asked one of the front desk CMs and they said they were made in Florida.

When we are down this December I'm going to ask the General Manager if they might have a photo book I could look through.

Welcome to the thread, Susan! cluelyss pointed you in the right direction. The thread chapters are listed in POST 1 and resort information is in the first two pages of the thread. I'll post your dates in the Log-orail.

Oh, no! So how did you book all your FP+s, link your ticket in MDX and get your MB? Good that you're all officially booked now.

I looked again and couldn't find any metal check-in lobby trees. I'm sure someone at CR will have more info. If you do find a photo, I'd love to see it if you don't mind posting it here.

Hello,

I have a tower lagoon view room booked for 10/24 through 10/28. I was able to take advantage of room only late fall discount of 20%. We are canceling the reservation and wanted to offer it to folks on this board. It is through orbitz and can link to Disney just as a reservation through Disney CR does. It is currently not linked and I believe the name on the ressie can be changed. Anyway, I know this is a little strange, but thought I'd make an attempt to help someone else out if possible.

Yep, I did everything but ME. Have our bands ready to go!

For transportation, I think the grid in the Unofficial Guide is pretty good.

Sitting by the pool on our departure day. Love that we decided to enjoy the resort today instead of squeezing extra park time in. Requested and got late checkout. Slept in. Ate a yummy late breakfast at The Wave. Actually used the very nice workout room. Been playing the poolside games and going down the water slide. Planning to try a ridiculously huge cupcake before heading to the airport. Thought about getting a boat for a half hour, but never got motivated enough. Great day at a great resort.

I'm back home from my trip. I stayed at the Contemporary in the Garden Wing on Friday and Saturday night. (I was at another resort earlier in the week).

The guest elevators were not working. That was totally unacceptable for a deluxe resort.

You either had to take the stairs or use the service elevator (which I did to get my wheeled luggage to my room on check in and back down for check out).

There was often a long line of people with strollers and scooters to use the service elevators so I sucked it up and used the stairs most of the time but that got really old fast since I was on the 3rd floor.

I was not happy and made sure I politely spoke with Guest Relations (and an Assistant Manager) regarding the elevator issues and the door to my room not being latched automatically issue.

The door to my room didn't close well unless I grabbed it and closed it myself so Saturday when I returned from the parks to find it cracked open. I guess housekeeping didn't make sure it was latched. Nothing was missing but it made me thankful that I wasn't staying at that resort long.

And I did not like the set up at the Contempo Cafe. Placing my order for breakfast, paying and getting a beeper and having to wait around for my food was annoying since I had a 15 minute wait between ordering it and receiving it and the waffle was cold so I ended up asking them to redo it while I stood there and waited for it. They weren't even busy at that time.

I'm normally not a complainer but all of these things added up quickly and they can't be fixed if management doesn't know their guests are unhappy so I sure hope it helps someone else.

I loved being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom and I still love the mural in the lobby but I won't be going back to stay at the Contemporary anytime soon.

I hope everyone else who has an upcoming trip planned has a much better time at the Contemporary than I did!

Are all TPV tower rooms created equal?? I was going to submit a room request and thought I would ask you all first. Will it matter? Should I request an upper floor?

I have only been on mkv side. I had 7th floor first time and then cl 12th floor. I actually prefer the lower floors because you can "see " details better.

I have been on end towards MK and end towards convention center too. MK end has better view of mk but the convention side has better views of Seven Seas Lagoon :cloud9: I love watching the boats and seeing Poly and GF in the distance:love:

Honestly, if I went back I would not request anything specific.

Had to discreetly text dd at college(she doesn't know her legs are famous).:rolleyes1

She says Essie brand "Bikini so Teeny"!!! :rotfl2:
Found it at Target, but haven't used it yet. I swear not to wear it at WDW at the same time as your DD!

Thank you for posting about your GW stay. Those elevators sound terrible and leaving your door open is unsat. I'm glad you reported these problems so they're aware of them and can hopefully fix them. I hope you find the perfect resort for your next stay.

Just bumping us off of page 2! :goodvibes
:goodvibes

Our contract for BLT was sent to ROFR today! Fingers crossed :hyper:
Let us know when it's official.

We've also only stayed on the Bay Lake side which is our favorite view. Some like to request an odd-numbered room for a TPV so when you're sitting in bed, you'll face toward the MK. We usually request to be away from CM, so we don't hear the Celebration Song as easily.

Considering taking my mom to BLT for her 65th birthday. We'd get a Deluxe Studio, which means one of us would be in the pull-out couch (me). Would that take away from the magic? Seems funny to pay that much more than we normally do, and not even have two proper beds.
