Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

The trend with DVC rooms has been less Disney theming (cough Copper Creek). I'm glad to see that Bay Lake Tower appears to be an exception. The rooms may be even more Disney themed than they were before?

Does anyone have any idea when the first refurbed rooms may be ready for occupation? Not that I would expect to have ANY chance of getting one for our late January trip anyway since it looks like they've started with higher floors and we've only got a standard view booked.

Are there any reports of how the refurb has been impacting guests with noise/inconvenience etc?

I’m staying for the first time at BLT in a lakeview studio Dec 19-26. I’m traveling with my two adult daughters (youngest turns 18 on the trip) and the youngest’s friend. I’ve watched videos and studied pictures to get some creative ideas to maximize our space. It doesn’t appear as if there’s room for luggage to be stored under the queen bed. Is that correct? Any tips to make it feel more roomy?

Sorry I got interrupted!

Dd usually puts her bag in from of connecting door. I usually use the closet. Take a look at the floor plans for BLT and videos. That should help.

Do any of the garden wing rooms have bathtubs, or are they all walk in showers only?

We booked the Contemporary for a few nights and all they had available was a Garden Wing King room for our dates. They had had a standard, two queen Garden Wing room in the past, so every day I have been checking to see if it has opened back up as it would be better to have the 2 beds opposed to the 1 king and 1 day bed.

My question is, are the king rooms any better than the 2 queen bed rooms? This King room seems to be a standard view. Aside from the more comfortable bed situation (I assume the day beds aren't as comfortable as a regular bed would be), it would also be 50 dollars a night cheaper. But are the standard king rooms located somewhere differently or offer any sort of advantage that the 2 queen bed rooms don't have?

Thanks!

No just select rooms along the regular hallways and no other advantages over 2 Queen beds except a little more open floor space in the room.

Yes the day bed is about equal to a twin bed. It is a fold-down mattress on the couch. My children and grand children loved them but only when they were less than 7 years old.

My king in 2023 had a view of the Bay Lake, hard to see in picture but I could see the boats go by,

What was nice is that there is an extra chair in the corner.

I prefer 2 queens but sometimes end up with a king, good part is more floor space!

Bay Lake Tower December 2024 Condominium Meeting Recap

The project is being completed in four stages. The first group of rooms should be turned over to DVC in about 2 weeks. They will be ready for guest use shortly thereafter. The entire project will take over a year.

All rooms will be getting the pull down Murphy sofa beds. A twin sleeper is being added to One Bedroom and Two Bedroom villas. The twin will not be added to Deluxe Studio rooms, thus their sleeping capacity will remain at maimum 4 guests.

USB ports will be added to rooms. There will be no major changes to the room layouts. Tubs, showers and the general design of all rooms will remain the same, including the unique kitchenette layout of Bay Lake Tower Deluxe Studio rooms. Newer interactive TVs are being added, similar to other Walt Disney World resorts.

No photos or concept artwork were offered for the updated rooms.

The refurbishment project will include updates to the lobby and Community Hall. But there are no changes planned for Top of the World Lounge.

The Skybridge will be closed during the next phase of the refurbishment, beginning in January 2025. In order to move between Bay Lake Towerand the Contemporary Tower, guests will have to proceed to ground level and walk outside.

Bummer, not great timing for our trip! Guessing this will also impact my room request, which was for the 5th floor. I'll just leave my generic 'outside facing highest floor possible' request and hope for the best 🤞 We've only booked standard view, so no chance of getting any of the finished rooms.

Will the studios have a pull down bed as well then? I heard they weren’t changing up the kitchenette area in those so guessing the living room space will still be tight.
