Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

We did ask the CMs for bottled water when we were at BC and they told us they no longer offered bottled water. Oh well, we still had a great time. :)

I was told the same thing during our December stay at BC CL, no more bottled water. I did notice last week a lot of people filling their own personal sports bottles and tervis tumblers from the water dispenser in the lounge.

Speaking of bottles of water:
At RPC this week, they would actually keep a case of bottled water in a cupboard in the lounge (everyone knew where it was, sort of like the cups with lids that everyone reaches in to take). When that case ran out, the CM's would go in their room and come back with more. Now I suppose when that stock runs out is when people report back that they no longer have the bottled water available upon request. I suspect they always try to keep some in stock, but simply can't ever have enough considering all the guests that want several bottles per day. Also this week at RPC, after 10:00 p.m., the CM's would put bottles of water in the little refrigerators.

We had the same experience at GF SL in December. They always had Dasani for us whenever we asked and it was also in the lounge fridge.

Bottled water is one of those strange things. You'd think they would standardize it throughout all the club levels. I don't know if is the policy varies at different resorts, or if it's whether or not they have some available in the back. There's no figuring it.
I'm glad you still had a great time. :-)

The CL manager at the BC told me last year they were planning to eliminate all bottled water across the board in support of a more conservation friendly measure. He said the water system they've replaced it with actually costs more for them to operate but they feel it is more environmentally conscience. I'm not sure if the GF will eventually follow suit. Maybe they feel it would be less luxurious???

Yes, we had a DVD player in our room and they had a large selection of DVDs available to borrow :)

Thank you. Was there any suggestion that the morning safari was going to start again? ( I know someone had thought it was) thanks Erika

I agree ;).

We are home from RPC! I need a day or 2 to get my thoughts and pictures together, and then I'll be back with a review. For now, to sum it all up in a few sentences, RPC was better than we expected! Maybe because I went in with lower expectations due to cutbacks? Whatever the reason, I went into it knowing we might not love it, but when we left this morning I knew GF had won me over. I'm not ready to say it's our new favorite -- I can't do that to Poly because Poly has been so special to us for so long. But I can say that we were wow'd to the point where I'm trying to come up with a way to go back this Nov/Dec! Right when the prices are sky high again, I'm sure.... In any event, I'll be back in a day or 2 with more!

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed RPC. We've only stayed at a few CLs and while RPC is my favorite, I'm excited to try/compare Poly CL in September. Looking forward to your review :wizard:.

Question about Poly club level--mid-day and early evening---options:

We will be heading to WDW in early October--this is the first time that our kids are going (4&6) and our first hotel stay as adults. I'm figuring out our ADRs, and am trying to figure out what to book as a lunch vs. dinner. Part of the factor is that we likely want to come back to the resort, regroup etc. How substantial are the offerings on the CL that we could make a light mid-day meal out of it? What about in the evening are the options ever enough to serve as a light dinner (if you had large lunch earlier) In general, we probably wouldn't plan a large lunch + a large dinner on any given day...So I'm wondering if we could try to use the club for this on one or two days. TIA!
Breakfast-it can replace breakfast, but it is just a few cereals, yogurt, not so great pastries, and hard boiled eggs. It will do, but it is not a fun vacation breakfast.

Midday really is not enough to replace lunch. It is soft drinks, chips (or sometimes goldfish), and cookies. There is no protein or fruits/veggies.

Evening is an alcoholic punch, wine, soft drinks, 2 hot apps, cheese (and the cheese we had out was like jalapeno and swiss...both strong flavors which kids might not like), hummus, crudite, fruit, and uncrustables. The 2 hot appetizers were okay, but they were small...and not really a meal.

We are staying at the Contemporary Club level in a few weeks. We've stayed CL at RPC (My fave!!), and the Poly. We love it. My kids love the snacks!

However, this time we are traveling with a nut allergy. I know Disney is AWESOME with allergy's...but what about in the CL lounge? I'll be honest, my son is going to be bummed if his sisters get cookies, etc. and he can't have it. What options will they have for him? My kids always love walking back to our room in the afternoon and getting a big cookie! I'm hoping either that those are safe for my son, or they have a safe option? The other option is for me to bring something for him from home (but that's a hassle!)...and even then, it won't be the same! I'd love to hear other's experiences with CL and a nut allergy!

I think it's always most helpful to ask these types of questions directly to the IPO. You can call or email them.
They can note the allergy on the reservation and give you any information they may have.

I did email IPO and they noted it and said they'd let the proper people know. I was just wondering about people's personal experiences.

That's what they did in Sugarloaf and initially we were asking for them, and a CM showed us and said help yourself :)

We are traveling with dairy, egg, sesame, tree nuts and peanut allergies in August, and have traveled there in January for a couple days. (not club then). I would think they would most likely have enjoy life cookies on hand. I know DS had them at 1900 park fare and many of the places in WDW. At one place, we were handled a handful of two pack cookies of enjoy life.

I'm sorry I can't help you with your question, but just wanted to say I hope you have a great trip! We've only done CR CL once (Dec 2014), but it has a special place in our memories. We really enjoyed the smaller/cozy feel of the lounge, the view, the food, and the CMs were excellent, in our opinion. It might have been the time of year (it was the first week in December) but a lot of time we felt like the only ones there! Again, hope you have a fantastic trip.

The CM I asked (Tim) didn't know. I recommend asking Don in IPO, he always seems to have good information. :)

Don definitely knows his stuff. Every time I get a response or call from him I am happy because I know what he says is accurate. He definitely wants to make sure the guests are happy and taken care of. I sometimes wish the IPO cast members were also the lounge cast members. It would be nice to be able to thank them in person.

TigrLvsPooh-- Thank you for your recent trip report. I made my fastpasses this morning for our May/June trip. Your trip report got me excited for our stay at AKL.

I emailed Poly IPO asking about water bottles to take and this was the response I just received:

"We do not have bottled water in the Club Lounge but can provide a carafe
of our filtered water to take to your room. We use the Natura Water
filtration system in the lounge. If you want water to take to the parks
with you then I recommend that you bring your water bottle with you and
our lounge cast would be happy to fill it for you.

If you have any other questions or need further assistance please let us
know.

Have a Magical Day!
Denise"

We are going on our 4th day here at RPC. As far as cutbacks, we are not noticing many. No welcome gift, of course. We still have nightly turndown with chocolates and a little good night card:

Also, there is still champagne at night....and water bottles are given out whenever requested. Then after 10 pm, water bottles are placed in the little refrigerators with the pop.

Texting service for FP's has been great. The first couple days we weren't having any luck. But the last 2 days have been great -- I guess what has been so helpful is when we're in one park and want a FP for a different park and they secure that for us.

The food at night doesn't appear to be lacking. This is our first RPC stay, but I can say the food here is comparable to BC. There really is a large selection -- Im taking lots of pictures. Meat and cheese platter is still here for breakfast. The afternoon has a lot of stuff -- scones, tarts, banana bread, veggies, goldfish, etc. Way more options than at both BC and Poly.

I will post more when we get home. I just wanted to check in cause I know there has been a lot of chatter about cutbacks. RPC is still going strong!
Interesting- We stayed at the RPC at the end of Feb. and never saw this card before. We did however get turn down service.

For information purposes the BWI CL had bottled water the first week of March when we stayed there. You just had to ask for it.

Just booked AKL Club Level in December. When does the IPO make contact with guests? Near the 180 day mark for ADR's? Thanks for any info.

We got a different card the next night too. I was actually trying to think of something that we needed because she seemed very friendly and willing to do anything (lol), but I couldn't come up with anything. Everything was just right -- the amount of towels, shampoo, etc., always perfect. If I had to nitpick to come up with something wrong, there was an outlet in the bathroom that was super loose from the wall. I unplugged the hairdryer and the outlet almost came with it. Also, as long as I'm at it, another thing was the shower liner was super high...meaning those little suction cups barely made it to the top of the tub. So if we weren't really careful, water would end up leaking out. Otherwise, everything was simply perfect! I'm working on a review now -- there is so much to cover so I might start a separate thread since some is related to CL, some to GF in general, some to POR, some to crowds and theme parks, etc.
