Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

We are considering staying CL at Beach Club in October. Does the club level lounge provide bottle water? I'm getting some conflicting information when I search that question. Thanks!

Hey! Asking for my elderly parents... they will be joining us on our May vacation and staying at RPC. They have some mobility issues and will be in a standard room. Since, I have never stayed there before- what is the best room for them to request. I would like them to be close to the lounge and elevator- but don't know if this is possible. Thanks in advance!

Question about Poly club level--mid-day and early evening---options:

We will be heading to WDW in early October--this is the first time that our kids are going (4&6) and our first hotel stay as adults. I'm figuring out our ADRs, and am trying to figure out what to book as a lunch vs. dinner. Part of the factor is that we likely want to come back to the resort, regroup etc. How substantial are the offerings on the CL that we could make a light mid-day meal out of it? What about in the evening are the options ever enough to serve as a light dinner (if you had large lunch earlier) In general, we probably wouldn't plan a large lunch + a large dinner on any given day...So I'm wondering if we could try to use the club for this on one or two days. TIA!

Hi! Never stayed at Poly, but have done YC many times, BC, BWI, GF & Contemporary. Afternoons are snacks, not meals. Chips & dip, yogurt covered pretzels, gummy candies, things like that. Truly nothing that would be a meal. Appetizers from 5 - 7 pm aren't meant to be a meal, but you do hear many say it's enough if they had a big lunch. There are veggie crudité & dip, 2 different hot appetizers, a cold appetizer like a capresse salad, cheese & crackers. Previously they had pb & j uncrustables, but I think I read they have stopped that in the last few weeks. If you think a few veggies & bites of appetizers will fill you up, it might work as dinner. It is generally not good to take too much of any 1 item at a time tho.

The mid-day snacks are really not enough for us. We have found that when we stay CL it makes more sense for us to book a nice, sit down lunch. We do snack on the lounge food and head to the pool in the afternoon. Usually the evening apps (after the big lunch and all) are enough for us to not really want a big dinner. If we do make an ADR we tend to share a couple items off the menu. More typically, we'll go into a park and just grab something light when/if we feel hungry. And then there are little desserts in the lounge once we get back. I know people say that the apps aren't meant to be dinner (and they aren't) but this works best for my family. When we do book a sit down dinner we generally avoid the evening apps since it's just too much food for us.

I agree with PP that mid day snacks are not a meal, but evening apps, I say definitely! I've stayed at AKL a few times and it really depends on if you're a light eater and how busy the lounge is. The chefs at AKL encourage eating as it gets thrown away. Certainly manners play a role if it's crazy busy (as some people take a tray full and leave one for a room full of people, which is obviously rude). Don't base your trip around it but you'll get the feel of it. Enjoy!

Call IPO and simply state that you would like them to be close to the lounge and elevators due to mobility issues. This is much better than requesting a certain room. If the assignor does not have that room available they do not know why you requested it. Giving them an idea of what you want gives them more to work with.

FWIW they are quite a few rooms that qualify for that and frankly any standard on the 4 th floor will not be that far away from the lounge or elevators. IPO may inquire if they would like to be placed in a HA room, as there is one very close to the elevator/lounge. If you don't want a HA room you may want to mention that with your requests.

When we stayed CL at BC last July they didn't have bottled water. We stayed at GF Sugarloaf in December and they did have bottled water. There seems to be a lot of inconsistencies between the various Club Levels.

I guess it depends on how big of a lunch you had, really. I don't think the food in the lounge would be enough to serve as a light meal unless you really weren't that hungry. There are 2 hot appetizers, but they are usually very small in size. They have crudite, cheeses, and different kinds of crackers. They might have some humus and pita, and perhaps PB&J. The lounge food is not as generous as it used to be. Some days it's fairly crowded, and there may be people waiting for a seat. During slow periods we like to hang out in the lounge, but during the evening and breakfast services, it's more eat quickly and leave to give others a chance for the seats. It depends on the lounge, too. Some are better than others.

We were at the Beach Club last year, and they had bottled water. It was not in the fridge, you had to ask for it.

There were no bottles of water at BC CL when we were there late last summer. GF SL and RPC both did have the small bottles of Dasani

I'm home! :)

If I missed anyone who wants to be added to the guest list let me know. If anyone wants to see my AKL CL pics there's a link in my signature. If you have questions let me know!
Welcome home Erika :) Thank goodness you've got another trip coming!

I agree with other posters that mid-day snacks cannot be a meal. Our kids are pretty picky so evening apps were more to sit and take a break before going to back to the parks (especially during those afternoon t-storms). DH and I would have a few drinks and try the apps. Myself and my DS15 could easily fill up with some offerings, however the kids not so much. An exception was at GF where they had chicken nuggets and pasta some nights :) You could do evening apps and then a late dinner and come back for desserts and fireworks. We normally do breakfast in the lounge and have lunch at the parks, swim, then we are ready for apps and then parks :) Disclaimer: We do mostly CS meals. We do try not to book since traveling with our kids we need to be flexible (My youngest has Autism so we can't overplan, he's 7 now)

Hi all. I know that you get a DVD player in club room( we are staying AKL) but can you still borrow dvd from club lounge? Thanks all

I can't answer as we haven't stayed CL at AKL, but hopefully someone else will be able to help :flower3:.

My first thoughts....the rooms are nicer here at GF and the lounge food is also better here. However, I think the Poly wins as far as the views from the beach and main pools, and the overall ambiance is more relaxed at Poly.

I agree about the overall ambiance of the Poly vs the GF. I love the GF, but the tropical atmosphere at the Poly is just so relaxing that it's our #1 favorite. With that said, having stayed RPC, I am excited to try Poly CL later this year and see how the two CLs compare :wizard:.

Apologies if this has been asked before. We are leaving next weekend for a 1 week stay at the Poly Club Level. My youngest of 3 is almost 2. She is immunosuppressed as she had a heart transplant at 6 days old. We were advised not to have her eat food from a buffet due to increased risk of germs and food poisoning. We are bringing food for her and she is very tiny and does not eat much. My question is - would a CM bring her out a dish of something straight from the kitchen if she really wanted something in particular? We try to treat her as normally as possible and I would love for her to enjoy something her siblings are having if she gets super excited over it. Thank you!

I agree with the others who mentioned contacting IPO with any concerns/requests. Disney is usually very accommodating (when possible) when it comes to food issues :).

Hi everyone. I just called IPO to get some help making dinner reservations for our trip in July and the CM told me to do it myself online. I thought one of the perks of club level was help making your reservations and schedules?

As others have said, that is one of the perks of staying CL. I enjoy doing my own ADRs, but for others who prefer to have it done, I hope it isn't one of the cutbacks :sad2:.

If it were me, I'd send my requests in an email to them. They should be able to help with this, or let you know if there is no availability for your preferred date/time. You are correct that assisting with reservations is something they are supposed to do. I hope you have better luck with a second try. :goodvibes

I agree! ;)

It might be helpful if you email or call the Poly IPO with your question. They can note things like this in your reservation, as well as hopefully give you an answer.

:thumbsup2

Despite a few of my gripes, I've actually kind of been missing GF!

It's easy to miss as it's such a great resort :goodvibes.

I am really curious about how other people use the Itinerary Planning Service. How much do you rely on the IPS? Do you let them make all your ADR's or just the hard to get reservations? Are they able to get the hard to book reservations like CRT or BOG? I love making all of our ADR's and have only used them for booking tours, babysitting and Wishes Dessert Party in the past. Just curious what others do.

I never use IPO as I like making my own ADRs, but it is nice to have them there just in case I have any questions or concerns prior to my trip ;). As dansdad posted, IPO can't get anything that you can't get yourself as they don't have any extra pull.

Hello All

We will be going to WDW this Christmas pre and post our DCL trip. We will stay BC CL pre and Poly CL post (TPV). This will be our first time doing CL and I'm very excited. :yay: I'm hoping the CMs are nice as I wouldn't know who to avoid. What a shame.

Sounds like an awesome trip! Enjoy the planning :wizard:.

Happy Easter everyone!:flower:
I emailed the BWI IPO this morning with a couple of questions. I hit send at 11:25am. I had a helpful reply answering my questions at 11:37am.
There are still folks at the IPO who are working hard to assist us with our CL vacations. :daisy:

How nice that you got a response so quick ::yes::. I am always reading great things about BWI IPO!

Please add us to Boardwalk Inn club level from.8/7-8/17. We have never stayed there and are really looking forward to it and the amazing location!

Hope you have a great trip! Enjoy the planning :).

I think a good request would be 4th floor close to lounge ;).

We did ask the CMs for bottled water when we were at BC and they told us they no longer offered bottled water. Oh well, we still had a great time. :)
Bottled water is one of those strange things. You'd think they would standardize it throughout all the club levels. I don't know if is the policy varies at different resorts, or if it's whether or not they have some available in the back. There's no figuring it.
I'm glad you still had a great time. :-)

We are home from RPC! I need a day or 2 to get my thoughts and pictures together, and then I'll be back with a review. For now, to sum it all up in a few sentences, RPC was better than we expected! Maybe because I went in with lower expectations due to cutbacks? Whatever the reason, I went into it knowing we might not love it, but when we left this morning I knew GF had won me over. I'm not ready to say it's our new favorite -- I can't do that to Poly because Poly has been so special to us for so long. But I can say that we were wow'd to the point where I'm trying to come up with a way to go back this Nov/Dec! Right when the prices are sky high again, I'm sure.... In any event, I'll be back in a day or 2 with more!

Speaking of bottles of water:
At RPC this week, they would actually keep a case of bottled water in a cupboard in the lounge (everyone knew where it was, sort of like the cups with lids that everyone reaches in to take). When that case ran out, the CM's would go in their room and come back with more. Now I suppose when that stock runs out is when people report back that they no longer have the bottled water available upon request. I suspect they always try to keep some in stock, but simply can't ever have enough considering all the guests that want several bottles per day. Also this week at RPC, after 10:00 p.m., the CM's would put bottles of water in the little refrigerators.

Hi all. I know that you get a DVD player in club room( we are staying AKL) but can you still borrow dvd from club lounge? Thanks all

Yes, we had a DVD player in our room and they had a large selection of DVDs available to borrow :)
