Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

With this construction is anyone regretting staying at CBR and thinking of moving?Despite the gift cards?
To be honest, this is a discussion I really need to have with my family. A really tough decision that I just wish I didn't have to keep thinking about and keep second guessing as we prepare for our August trip!

Please don't get me wrong, I am really glad that the gift cards are being offered to everyone prior to the May 19/20 booking and some are getting an additional room discount. I am sad that people are being treated differently and not being given the room discount as well as the gift card.

Yes! Didn't even need to show them the email. So 30% off with AP, $75 'discount', $75 gift card, we are paying less than $20 per night, net. For 11 nights, wow.

Construction thus far has had no impact. We will see what happens next week, but the temporary structure looks like it is of pretty good size, so we will see.

We have the free dining from last year's bounceback, plus the $75 discount & the gift card. Will cost us less than $20 a night for 2 adults too. Unbelievable. Makes up for the times we paid for club level & annual passes!

Well we love CBR but opted for a free move to POFQ. We're staying for 14 nights, traveling from the UK and didn't want any concerns about construction. We will be spending plenty of downtime at the resort so this will suit us better.
Disney UK are not treating their customers with the respect our US friends are enjoying. We had to fight for our move, told different things on every call, had emails and letters ignored, basically told "take it or leave it". Only after a long conversation with the executive office were we granted a free move.
Friends who accepted the reduced rate and the gift card have now been told this will NOT happen, it will be one or the other, in spite of what they were previously promised.
We have been holidaying at Disney since the early 80s but have to say, this experience has left a very sour taste.

Definitely... I keep checking for availability at other mod's for our dates but nothing, unless I do a split stay which I'm not opposed to. It's hard b/c it's just myself & my 9yo so that $600 will pretty much cover our dining.

Guests staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will soon be able to use their refillable resort mugs to experience more than 100 unique beverage flavors at new Coca-Cola Freestyle machines across the resort. Once complete, these Coca-Cola Freestyle machines will be located in the vending areas on the first floor at:

  • Martinique: Building 25
  • Trinidad North: Building 31
  • Trinidad South: Buildings 34 and 38
  • Jamaica: Buildings 43 and 46
  • Aruba: Buildings 52 and 54
OMG I am so excited CBR is putting in drink stations in at all the buildings. We love CBR but our one wish is now coming true, I would love to see them become permanent. It will be great to come back from the parks and not have to track to or from the food court just to get a cold beverage.

Has anyone seen a picture of the mickey gift cards or can they post one? I'm just curious what they look like.

That is awful they have been told that--who is relaying that info to them?

Is it Disney thats telling people that or the travel agents? would be interesting to know.

I saw someone post a picture--but I don't remember where. It has Mickey in construction attire (hard hat, etc.). It was cute.

Just checked in and gift card was waiting for us.
I have a reservation there for November with the gift card but I'm still really nervous about the food court closure. Could you please let us know what your experience is with the breakfast options they have available?
:thanks:

Cute yes, but no park employee knows how to use them. They always try to slide it like a credit card, but ours at least needs a gun scanner to go through!

AND almost as awesome as convenience would be 24 HOUR AVAILABILITY!:)
