Thanks grover, but I need to know if they'll be a pool bar? I have FD booked at POR but I can save $600 if I switch to CBR, but drinks by the pool is important to our vacation.

Where is the confusion in that answer?
At what point does saying Yes, there is a temporary pool bar mean the main pool will be closed? The pool was never brought up at all, only the Pool Bar. No?

Sorry but when the answer was obviously a joke, I didn't know how to take it. All I'm looking for is a yes or no answer. When I'm told they should call it the "The Hard Hat Bar" I took that as the entire area would be a construction zone so maybe the pool was also closed.

Nope, not offended. Honestly didn't know how you thought you were not answered.
The joke was that the resort is under major construction. The pool is right next to the area closed (store, food court, etc)

This week I was able to switch from a water/pool view room to a standard room and save $585!!! How awesome was that?! The more I thought on it, I was like why spend the extra money. So I called and he was able to give a some kind of room discount and I was able to keep my free dining (from when I booked a long time ago...lol) and the $75 a night gift card. So all is looking up. So let's hope for a Bar of some kind and all will be right in the world...lol

Well we love CBR but opted for a free move to POFQ. We're staying for 14 nights, traveling from the UK and didn't want any concerns about construction. We will be spending plenty of downtime at the resort so this will suit us better.
Disney UK are not treating their customers with the respect our US friends are enjoying. We had to fight for our move, told different things on every call, had emails and letters ignored, basically told "take it or leave it". Only after a long conversation with the executive office were we granted a free move.
Friends who accepted the reduced rate and the gift card have now been told this will NOT happen, it will be one or the other, in spite of what they were previously promised.
We have been holidaying at Disney since the early 80s but have to say, this experience has left a very sour taste.

Well, I was refused a move too. That's when I was offered the room discount. I was told that was my only option. Which I accepted because that was my only option to deal with the construction. I received a new invoice with the new discounted price but the reservation is still just listed as free dining. The next day, the gift card was announced. I got the email saying we would be receiving the gift card a few days later. I am not trying to be greedy, but I will be insistent if they try to say we're not eligible.

If it is a travel agent telling your friend this, I wouldn't be too worried. If it is Disney, your friend should be prepared at check in with copies of any emails etc. l think it will be a non issue tho. Someone just posted a page or 2 back that they had the reduced rate & the gift card was waiting for them at check in.

With this construction is anyone regretting staying at CBR and thinking of moving?Despite the gift cards?

Thought I would join the thread as I have been lurking and reading for a few weeks now. Staying here with my girlfriend in August and am nervous about the construction. However, the deal was just too good to pass up for us. We ended up with the summer 25% off room rate as well as the $75.00 a night gift cards which puts our hotel cost at just under $70.00 a night. We were going to change resorts if we did not get free dining (we ended up missing by a week), but decided to stay as the idea of having $450.00 to spend anywhere at Disney was enticing. We plan to be in the parks almost everyday and are not really too worried about the food situation as we have ADRs at other resorts and the parks. We will be at CBR only to sleep, maybe for a quick breakfast item or snack here or there. A pool day would be nice as well as some time to relax on the hammocks but we will make due. I think we are more concerned about the walk to bus stops/food/etc. as well as the bus situation more than the construction. We plan to make the best of it and are super excited as this is my first trip to the mouse house since I was 5. I will be following this thread closely and I guess see what construction looks like and inconveniences people have leading up to August.

Free dining changes must have opened up some rooms in CBR. I was bounceback for 9/9 - 9/17 in a preferred room. Tonight I was able to downgrade to a waterview/poolview room. I would rather not be next to the construction area. We are still keeping our gift cards, YAY!


On a side note, every time I have called, there are always Pirate rooms available. Arrrrr

Yes! Didn't even need to show them the email. So 30% off with AP, $75 'discount', $75 gift card, we are paying less than $20 per night, net. For 11 nights, wow.

Construction thus far has had no impact. We will see what happens next week, but the temporary structure looks like it is of pretty good size, so we will see.

Well, that's interesting. How long are you staying ksweet? Prmatz checked in yesterday, no problem with gift card & $75 room discount for 11 night stay. Today you couldn't?? Maybe you ought to talk to another manager tomorrow. Or email guest services.

It's not just my friends, if you check out the UK site The Dibb, similar to this site, you'll be amazed (and entertained, gotta love the English sense of humour!) by what's happening. People are being told by Disney, catorgorically, Disney, that they won't get both. But they've been telling us all sorts of differing things since this broke back in February. Now people are beginning to check in, we're waiting to hear how they fare.
Catching up with this thread this morning, I've just read someone being denied a gift card because they accepted a reduction in room rate, when others on here have posted they checked in and got both. It's really poor customer service and not what we've come to expect from Disney.

Oh no this makes me nervous. Are you talking about the $75 room credit offered initially? Or a room discount? We were offered the $75 gift cards, and then modified for a room discount for the fall. We've been told we will get both via verbal and written communication but I'm nervous after your experience

I literally (5 minutes ago) checked in, got my gift card no problem, on top of the 75/night credit.
I was also told that they're having issue with the food tent and the opr construction may be pushed back till may 8.

Thanks for checking in with us! Maybe pushing back the timeline is what caused them to really deny the previous poster's gift card. Wonder if she checks out before the 5th so not "effected" in Disney's opinion?

Glad I'm not staying here on my trip next week. Hopefully all the kinks will be worked out by our check in in December. But with Disney, you never know.
