Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

I think that wording may be a little misleading, also. Technically, it is true and correct. "Up to" means "possibly as many(much) as." It is kind of like the discounts that say, "Save up to 35%." In many cases you only save 20%, and in some cases, there is no discount whatsoever. So the rooms sleep "up to" 5 adults, provided at least one of the adults is very small and the other four don't mind sharing a bed with someone else.
Not convinced ^^ with that reasoning, it would also be okay for Disney to say "sleeps up to 6 adults" since I'm pretty sure you can fit 3 tiny and skinny adults on each king/queen bed. The size of the bunk bed is nowhere to be found on the official website. Obviously this is a child bed.

Help me win a fight here!! The kids and hubby want to go to AKL! ( we have never been) Im like noooooooooo its my birthday so I get to pick!!! Tell me it will be too noisy and too many kids at AKL!! give me some ammo here to argue with!! lol
Oh! AKL is amazing!! My favorite resort hands down. Lush decorations, the animals, Jiko...and good bus service to the parks!

I agree that the bed is for a small person. I think maximum room occupancy is dictated by the fire marshal rather than Disney. Nothing says three adults can't sleep in the same bed. If they want to, there is nothing stopping them. But you can't have six adults in that hotel room because of the Florida fire marshal- I don't think that is Disney's call. The room was originally designed to sleep four. Disney added another bed to appease guests who wanted rooms that sleep five, but they didn't want to cram the room with another regular bed.

Remember, by Disney standards, a ten year old is an adult. So again, the room sleeps up to five adults.

Don't get me wrong. I understand your frustration. Some people bring a blow up mattress. Nothing says you can't do that.

I would love to stay at AKL, but keep getting vetoed by my DD. We had breakfast there in October hoping I could sway her. We walked around the resort for a while and, nope, she didn't care for it even though she loves animals. I have to bribe her to go to AK. I don't get it LOL!!!! She loves WL so I figured she'd love AKL too :confused3

Friday can't get here soon enough!!!! Cannot wait to be in the magic!!!

Does anyone have any special spots to just sit and soak in the resort??

We enjoy just lazing around in the beach chairs or hammocks on any of the beaches. At times, we have been the only ones out there and we travel during the first week of May through the first week of June.

This. :thumbsup2 And we also like the tucked away benches on Castaway Cay. So peaceful to sit and watch the sunrise over OPR or just watch the calm waters.

Has anyone stayed in the waterview rooms? were they nice? were you close to the lake? FYI..we now had TWO reservations...one for a water room at CBR and the other for a standard room at AKL...ugh..theres still a "discussion" going on in our house as to where we will end up going...Kids want AKL, I want CBR..hubby is undecided..

another option may be if you can get to a Wallmart or Target shop and purchase an inflatable blow up twin matress, they run about $20 and they will give you bedding for it if you ask. If we dont get the pull down bed thats is what we do as one of my sons wont sleep with the other. Or you could bring one with you but its alot to pack when you have limited luggage room I know. Im so sorry..rather find out now though than wait till you get there and no one fits in the bed! You might consider changing to Art of Animation or Music Resort as they have Family suits that will def fit 5 adults. Im sure Disney if you called would be happy to move you..BUT...these may be more than your budget allows. Two rooms at a value resort could be an option too, they have great spring rates right now. Pop Century is a really nice one. Good luck.

I think we'll go for the air mattress option. Hope it can fit ^^. After all, we are 5, so we can make a daily rotation. One last question. Is it possible to get a rollaway bed ? The UK departement said no by phone because of fire restrictions, but I saw a lot of reviews or trip reports here or on Tripadvisor where people were able to have one.

We've had waterview twice. You are close to the lake, per se, but without a balcony and being on bottom floor like we always have been, all waterview means to us is a few steps closer to the lake/and or pool. It's not like having your own balcony to wake up and see the beaches.

The good thing about a Water View room is that you can request to be in Trinidad North, Martinique 24, 25 or 26 and be very close to OPR and the Main Feature Pool. And yes, you will be closer to the lake and the path around the lake. Your room will have a view of the lake or one of the quiet pools.

Yup. One of the advantages of booking a Water View or a King Room. There are both those room types in Trinidad North, Martinique 24, 25 and 26.

We will be at CBR this Saturday, if anyone needs me to find out anything for you let me know and I will try. I know someone wanted the wine prices so I will take pics of that. We will be eating at Shutters Saturday night. Park days Sunday through Friday so not a ton of time at the resort but should be able to get info if you need something.
Have a fab time:rainbow:
It's me you're pricing up the wine for, thanks for remembering, also could you possibly check what pre-packed sandwiches they do in grab and go?:thanks:

Will do! Sorry I didn't remember you were the one that had asked about the wine :( I will try to take pics of it all but is there a certain type of wine you want me to specifically check for?
