Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

I would be skeptical. Keep in mind a typical twin bed is 38 x 74.5 (says Serta). We had one of those beds at the Poly last trip. We used it as a sofa. My 10 year old son was not interested in using it as a bed. Hard mattress as well (at Poly)

Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 are both great locations. Each of these buildings have 16 rooms with the Murphy Beds.

Every Village has its own bus stop so you'll be close to one no matter what.

Ask to not be close to a Designated Smoking Area.

Thanks. I had not thought about having to ask NOT to be placed next to a smoking area. Seems like with what we know about smoking today those areas should be far away from most guests.

That was one of the only issues we had at Pop, now that I think about it. They placed a designated smoking area right at the walkway to the food court from the 70's section. We had to walk past it every day. Seems like the smoking areas should be away from major pathways that everyone has to take.

Thanks for the advise. What about the size of the murphy bed ? You wrote it was a 63" x 30" bed, which is pretty small ! Is it suitable for an adult ? At phone, they told me not to worry, that it was okay for an adult since I was able to make my reservation for 5 adults. I'm still skeptical...
My 7 year old just fit in this pull down bed and no more...there is no way me or my hubby would fit ( we tried and had legs hanging off the end)..it would have to be a very very small adult in my opinion!!

Shutters has really turned into a hidden gem since they changed Head Chef about 4 years ago. We haven't had a bad dish there yet.

We may be odd but we love taking the buses. Even when we've had our car with us it never moves until we check out. They come quick, they are plentiful and CBR is very centrally located so most destinations are under a 10 minute drive. We find we meet so many interesting people while taking the buses. We feel they are like an attraction all their own. If you do feel like driving, just be aware if driving to MK you have to park at the Ticket and Transportation Center, take a tram to the front, then take either the Monorail or Boat over to MK. The bus will drop you off right at the gates of MK.

Personally, I don't mind the buses. I do kind of enjoy them and I have learned what to expect with them. I think the first few trips we took we were bothered because we did not expect to have to go to so many stops (we stayed at POR on an early trip), to have to wait for ECVs to load, and to stand so often. We did not expect the massive crowds waiting for buses at the end of the evening and having to wait for two or three buses before we finally boarded. Now that we know what to expect, I don't mind. When it was just my older daughter and me a few weeks ago, we had a car, but we always took the buses to the parks. She is 9 and capable of standing and we enjoyed our bus trips.

However, I most mind the buses when my husband, my three year old, and my mom are with us. I get frustrated when my mom, who is 74, has to stand or has to wait for a bus to come for a long time (she has knee and back issues), or when my husband, who is much more impatient, intolerant, and crowd-phobic than I am, gets frustrated and annoyed with the buses. I don't like when my three year old gets whiney from waiting and I have to balance her and my stroller on a crowded bus. My husband and three year old will be with us in September so I am trying to decide whether to drive or take the bus when we go to MK and HS- even the water parks. I know it is a hassle to park at the TTC, but that is what we did last September.

Thanks but they only had Pirate rooms left with the discount..Im hoping to score a little pull down bed as one of my kids the older one has Asbergers and wont sleep with the 7yr old.. if we dont get one I will go out to walmart and buy a blow up mattress for him :)

Keep checking and checking and checking and checking. I had my trip booked for a good while based on prior year soccer tryout dates. OF COURSE they decide to switch things up and now we face the possibility of them happening at the start of our vacation. We won't know until the middle of April when they will be. I tried to switch our dates for two weeks and could get nothing but pirate rooms and there was nothing at POR or CSR (where I really didn't want to stay. Love the resort, but hate the food court). I even tried breaking the 10 night trip up into split stays, but there was nothing. Yesterday morning I finally got the dates that I needed.

The Murphy Beds were installed mainly for families that have 3 kids or 2 kids that refuse to sleep in the same bed. They really aren't meant for adults. But I do know of some small adults, like 5'2" - 5'4" sleeping in them just fine.

I'm 5'4" and on the slim side. I barely fit on the murphy bed!

I knew it... I'm very disapointed. The website says "sleeps up to 5 adults" for the Caribbean with no more information, whereas it's clearly written for other resort that the size of the bunk bed is smaller than the other ones. This is deceitful, I feel trapped.

The official description of the Preferred Rooms at POR also state "Sleeps Up to 5 Adults" and the Murphy Beds there are the same size.

I posted a pic for you in a previous post of my 7yr old on the bed, he comes to just above my waist and Im five foot five....you can see its a tight fit , hope it helps

What does this pin code look like? what should I look for? in all of the 25 years Ive been going to Disney I havnt gotten anything
It is an 8 digit number. You enter it, and then WDW asks for your zip code. Then the offers pop up. If my son in the Army is back from deployment, he wants to go with us.

I found this to always be my issue with some people/families. My kids and I give our seats to ladies/elderly whenever possible. Some people have zero respect for the elderly/disabled.

Help me win a fight here!! The kids and hubby want to go to AKL! ( we have never been) Im like noooooooooo its my birthday so I get to pick!!! Tell me it will be too noisy and too many kids at AKL!! give me some ammo here to argue with!! lol

I think that wording may be a little misleading, also. Technically, it is true and correct. "Up to" means "possibly as many(much) as." It is kind of like the discounts that say, "Save up to 35%." In many cases you only save 20%, and in some cases, there is no discount whatsoever. So the rooms sleep "up to" 5 adults, provided at least one of the adults is very small and the other four don't mind sharing a bed with someone else.

At CBR now, we arrived yesterday afternoon for a 2 night split stay moving to Swan tomorrow. This is our first stay here and we have really enjoyed it. The resort is nice and peaceful, our room clean and comfortable (although my son insists on keeping the AC at 68 and I'm freezing). We are in Jamaica building 42 first floor, standard room. It's a nice walk to the the pool and Food Court, bus stop across the parking lot. Yesterday, going to Epcot, ours was the first stop and it took 10 minutes to get around the resort. First stop coming back from Epcot. Going to MK today, we caught the bus at the main building, wouldn't you know it, it was the first stop with Jamaica being the last so we went around the resort, Jamaica was the first stop coming back from MK. We left MK around 4:30 and went to the main pool for some hot tub time then some bar time. We had hoped with 2 hot tubs there would be one that wasn't crowded with kids, but alas that wasn't so. All in all, we have enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Thanks a lot :-) . So that's definitely be an issue. Any idea what can I do except cancel my whole resort reservation? I'm mad because two different cast members told me the size of the bed was okay for an adult. What would have happened if we discovered that on our arriving day?

another option may be if you can get to a Wallmart or Target shop and purchase an inflatable blow up twin matress, they run about $20 and they will give you bedding for it if you ask. If we dont get the pull down bed thats is what we do as one of my sons wont sleep with the other. Or you could bring one with you but its alot to pack when you have limited luggage room I know. Im so sorry..rather find out now though than wait till you get there and no one fits in the bed! You might consider changing to Art of Animation or Music Resort as they have Family suits that will def fit 5 adults. Im sure Disney if you called would be happy to move you..BUT...these may be more than your budget allows. Two rooms at a value resort could be an option too, they have great spring rates right now. Pop Century is a really nice one. Good luck.
