Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

The good thing about a Water View room is that you can request to be in Trinidad North, Martinique 24, 25 or 26 and be very close to OPR and the Main Feature Pool. And yes, you will be closer to the lake and the path around the lake. Your room will have a view of the lake or one of the quiet pools.

We didn't like our view of the lake from Trinidad North. We were down by the bridge, and the lake was narrow at that area and topped with debris (sticks, etc. - not trash). Switched to a water view in Aruba and LOVED it!

IMO, unless you have physical issues that make walking a problem, the necessity of being right next to OPR is overblown.

I know that @dansdad quoted this, but it bears repeating. My wife has MS and I have had both knees replaced. I get why some people complain about the size to an extent, but the size is way overblown as @nilla states.

Mickeystoontown - Just wanted to report that we stayed in Barbados room 1651 and it had a pull down bed under the TV. Just wanted to let you know so it can be added to the list

I have MS but its never a problem to me to be anywhere in the resort I manage just fine, will be nice thought to get a room close to the lake, for some reason we always get stuck right at the back near the parking lot!

We always book water view, usually at CSR. Walking out the door and seeing the water starts the day off right :)

Has anyone stayed in the waterview rooms? were they nice? were you close to the lake? FYI..we now had TWO reservations...one for a water room at CBR and the other for a standard room at AKL...ugh..theres still a "discussion" going on in our house as to where we will end up going...Kids want AKL, I want CBR..hubby is undecided..
we are staying CBR water view this summer but if I was in your shoes, I would take the kids to AKL if they have not been there. Being around the animals is spectacular. There are plenty of places to see the animals in the resort even if you don't have Savannah view.

Three years without a real vacation and just mentally spent from the daily grind...boy CBR is going to be a nice getaway next month. Our family has only stayed once and we were lucky enough to get a second floor corner room facing the courtyard in Jamaica section. I hope we get lucky again.

Is there anything especially noteworthy to eat at the CBR food court? Not expecting four star food, but we do have a couple of breakfasts and pool day lunches planned there. Just wondering if there are any special suggestions on what we should try. Is there anything that is especially good or unusual (not available anywhere else)? What about snacks, desserts, treats, etc? Anything that stands out? What about the pool bar? Any specialty drinks or snacks worth mentioning?

Thanks!

We love the homemade chips you get with a sandwich at lunch. The monkey cupcakes get rave revues in this household also.

The Sunken Treasure and Pina Colava and the Banana Cabana bar are fantastic!

Im just worried that we can only afford a standard room..I had to explain to the kids we wouldnt be seeing Animals off our Balcony if we went and they were dissapointed..the little one was like "noo mom I seen it on tv and you do see animals from your room", had to explain we dont have enough money to do that..I got from the 13yr old ( who is Mr Attitude right now )."well why bother then... ( yeah at that point I called them spoiled brats and told them they were going to Galveston for the day...lol ) I just dont know what to do..we do have two reservations though and have till June 1st to decide ( as I have to cancel one )..I also feel really bad holding a room that we wont be going to..I think its an awful thing to do so Im trying to get everyone to make their mind up ASAP.

No guarantee, but my last 2 stays were standard rooms at AKL and we had animals outside our balcony both times.

There are places in the hotel to see the animals up close even if not from your balcony. And you could always get an upgrade with pixie dust! But seriously having been there, we wouldn't hesitate booking the standard for less money knowing we can see animals at other places in the hotel.

I know I'm biased because AKL has my heart, but I want to add, the hotel has the largest collection of African art I think in the U.S. It is everywhere. Lush, immersed, gorgeous. The entire hotel will touch your senses. The food, music, art, animals.
