Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Had to get this thread off the third page.

We will be at CBR February 15-24 for our first trip to Disney World.

This thread has been invaluable in planning for our trip.

Thanks everyone!
Keep us posted on your trip, we are thinking about going around that time next year. It will be our first trip to Disneyworld, we usually go to Disneyland!

Random question: Is there a place to get cold, filtered water at the resort? I am trying to decide if we need to order a case of water or if there is somewhere I can just fill a water bottle in the mornings and evenings.

In the food court at OPR by the drink machines. Also any and all Counter Service locations in the parks will give you free Ice Water.

Thank you. I know were covered in the parks but was more wondering about at the resort. Will anyone give us sideways glares if we fill up a water bottle there without purchasing something?

Just booked CBR August 13-21. We stayed there for the first time in December and loved it!
We had always stayed deluxe before but found out we loved the feel of CBR!

Just use a clean cup to do it. I would expect sideways glances if you're putting the bottle mouth up to the fountain. That's just gross.

Just got back from CBR. I don't know if someone is still collecting the rooms with murphy beds or not, but just in case..... We were in Martinque 2140, corner room with no murphy bed. Our travel buddies were in 2139 with a murphy bed. NONE of our room requests were met (yes, I know it's just a request), even the ones tagged for medical reasons so that was a bit disappointing. We had requested ground floor (had a party member that could not climb stairs due to a knee injury), close to OPR (for mobility reasons), connecting rooms with our party members. With a preference noted for Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51. We were not able to change rooms at all even for an upcharge as they claimed to be 100% booked.

All the bus stops we used at the resort had the digital bus monitor signs which were very nice! Only bus problem we had was getting one for an early reservation, that was a disaster. If we didn't have so many people in our party, I would have called a cab.

Bell Services was super great with holding all our luggage both arriving and checking out (19 bags for 9 people!!) as well as delivering a very heavy Amazon Pantry box a few days after we arrived. They even helped find a misplaced bag my husband LEFT on a bench at the Customs House (yes, I almost killed him, LOL).

We ate at Shutters one night and it was divine. Staff and food were all great.

Maid service had no problem bringing us an extra blanket and pillow and no one objected to our use of an twin size air mattress in the corner (boys 19 and 17 decided they would rather do this then share).

We saw no snakes at all, but several lizards.

We did not care for the quick service meals at the food court, but only ate there once. It was edible, but not up the quality I usually expect at disney.

Only used the main pool once but found it to be very heavily chlorinated. The kids liked the water slide but didn't like having to wait in a long line for it every time. Kids used the Martinique quiet pool once while we did laundry, didn't think to ask them if the chlorine was as bad but no one complained like they did at the main pool.

Resort was lovely but we felt our room was much too far from OPR, only used our mugs a time or two because the walk just wasn't worth it at the end of a long day.

Can't think of any other comments off the top of my head, but if anyone has questions I'm willing to answer!

Have you ever tried filtered water bottles? We are spoiled with wonderful tasting water where we come from so every time we go to Disney we bring 2 filtered water bottles and keep refilling them at the machines.

Can you see Hollywood Studios fireworks very well from CBR? I've seen Illuminations from the Martinique beach and really enjoyed it. Where's the best place to view Hollywood Studios fireworks?

Just booked a kind of last minute trip for my birthday in April!! Very excited to be heading back. We just love this resort.

Booked some fast pass and dining reservations already. Woohoo

So close, leave in 2 days :). I ordered from Amazon Pantry and received notification the box arrived today. All I have to buy on site is Milk.
This trip is just my sister and I. Is there a ON LINE to set up our charging privileges individually or do we have to wait until we get to the resort to do that?
Thanks!

We're right behind you at three days out. :)

Almost to ADR-making time for me - Saturday!! So that means I'll be at 6 months!!

I just read a recent blog post on another site that CBR offers water taxi transportation from some of the more distant rooms to the marina at Old Port Royale. I'd never seen anything about this anywhere else. Does anybody know if this is accurate/current information?

There was a water taxi from Aruba to OPR while the bridge was out in Oct/Nov, but I thought that was all.

Hmmm. Ok. Thanks. This was just posted the day before yesterday, and it didn't mention anything about it being temporary. Just stated stated that "Guests at buildings farther away from Old Port Royale have access to complimentary boat transportation." So, I was confused, since I'd never seen it mentioned anywhere else before.
