DD21 and I are headed back to the World next year (date to be determined, but I really want to go over my birthday in October) and the more I look at CBR, the more I fall in love. We've stayed at POFQ and I loved it, but I'm ready for something new and I think this is it! Thank you for such a wonderfully informative thread!

So booked to stay in the pirate room 3/28-4/4 not much on here about them other then it's not an upgrade I'm getting worried... Should we switch to a regular room?? First time staying for the whole week worried about our choice now.

Our first visit to CBR will be at end of March in a pirate room as well. Would live to hear how your trip goes (bad reviews have me a tad nervous). I love the Tinker Bell Zarina doll idea - totally going to borrow - thanks;)

We were at CBR in 2011 for my sister's Disney wedding. DH and I opted to "splurge" (using wedding discount) on a Pirate Room for DS who was almost 5. DS LOVED the room and would jump on the bed and pretend to steer the ship. I thought the decor was great. The rum barrel around the refrigerator and wooden boxes for the dresser were pretty cool. The carpet was my favorite (looked like wooden floor boards).

I was very upset about the comfort of the beds. Prior to booking I saw on the disboards that the beds were not regular beds and not too comfy. I called what I was told was the resort (I asked when they answered "are you actually onsite" and they said yes), then I asked what kind of beds they were. I was assured that they were regular beds with a mattress and box spring...just like every other room. I double, triple checked this fact. They were not. They are platform beds with just a mattress (which makes sense in all honesty). I was very uncomfortable sleeping in the beds and noticed a considerable difference when I was in my parents standard room readying for the wedding. Full disclosure...I was 8 months pregnant, but hadn't been having any sleeping difficulty prior to the trip so I'm not sure how much of that was really a factor.

The walk didn't bother us...though it was long. Definitely the longest walk on property. I'd say it took us at least 10 minutes to walk from the room to the pool and our room was one of the closest to the main pool area. It's actually a very peaceful walk along the lagoon and we always saw interesting creatures on the pathway (lizards, giant toad one day, bunnies).

As PP mentioned, if comfort is what you are looking for, you may want to switch. But, if you are booking the trip to give your LO an adventure...go for it.

I'm glad we did it the one time. It was a special thing for DS, our last trip as a family of 3, and he was a great age for it. I've talked to DH about booking a royal room at POR for DD someday. Sometimes, it's those special touches that make the trip that much better.

Good luck!

From the pictures it looks lovely, but doesn't seem to have much Disney theming anywhere in the resort. (The picture of Mickey in the hammock above the kid's bed is extremely cool though.)

Coming in on Wednesday - so excited!! I have a couple of quick questions.

1. Our flight comes in late on Wednesday. If we order from Garden Grocer, will the bell hop store it until we arrive? Or do we need to have it delivered after we arrive?
2. We are arriving on Wednesday and my parents are coming on Friday. We requested connecting rooms, but fully realize this is a big long shot since we are arriving two days apart. I also requested that they at least be in the same set of buildings as us, which I don't think is unreasonable. My question, should we also call in ahead and/or fax the resort to remind them of this.
3. Is it possible to have pizza delivered from a source outside the resort (papa johns, pizza hut, dominoes, etc)? If so, are delivery charges high and what delivers? If not, does the pizza place at the resort do special orders? (I have a kid who won't eat sauce on his pizza but LOVES pizza.)

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to a fantastic trip!

How late are you getting in? We were arriving at 9pm so I just had my Garden Grocer order delivered early the next morning. Bell services will hold it.
Definitely fax your request about 5 days prior to arrival. I sent a fax and got exactly what I asked for so I know they read them.
Not sure about the pizza situation.

None of the moderates or deluxes have that in your face Disney theming that the values do. That is one of the reasons we prefer the moderates.

1. Yes, Bell Services will hold your order. They will even keep your perishables refrigerated.
2. I prefer to call and add my requests. But faxing them has also been working lately. For a long time only POR and POFQ were reading and acting on faxed requests. But plenty of people reporting that CBR and CSR have also been doing it.
3. I have no experience with ordering pizza from off site. But I do know the Blue Runner Pizza will make and deliver a pizza without sauce.

Can anyone tell me how early the pools open in April?

9AM

It's been years since we stayed at CBR and stayed there 4 different times. My son picked this resort and is super excited. I just can't get excited about it. CBR is my least favorite resort. I despise the set up of check in and concierge so far away. I worry about getting a 2nd floor room since ds has trouble with steps and even calling disabilities beforehand it's only a request not a guarantee for first floor.

The resort being spread out doesn't bother me. We won't be using buses since it's too much of a pain with a wheelchair, so not worried about the bus system.

DS is excited for the theme pool and water slide. When are the least crowded times to swim?

Has @Robo or anyone made a map of where all the standard rooms are located? Maybe I overlooked it skimming the thread.

We went last July and had a great time. With the new FP+ system, we opted to go to breakfast at OPR then the pool for an hour or two every day. We booked our fast passes for the mid afternoon and then stayed in the parks until closing or the evening hour.

We loved it. We had the pool to ourselves and still felt we were able to ride everything we wanted to. We felt it was our first relaxed disney world vacation.

Thanks for sharing. We try to keep it relaxed. No commando mode for us. We'll be there for a 4 nights over SWW and will want to be at the studios early. But check out day, an early swim would be a great idea.

Interesting. One of the things we like about CBR is the fact that you don't have the mass of people checking in and out right next to/near the food court, arcade, store, pool, etc. There is a Concierge desk at OPR. They can do everything the front desk can do except check in/out. The only times we are ever at the Customer House is to check in or out.

From 9A-Noon and 3P-11P are the least crowded times. But even when the resort is at capacity, we've never had an issue with the pool being too crowded any time.

Check out the map in post #1. All of Trinidad North and buildings 24, 25 and 26 of Martinique are the preferred locations.

I think the years since we stayed there are close to a decade. So I'm sure things have changed since then. Good to know there is a concierge desk at OPR. I definitely don't remember one being there before.

Great!

Ah! Ok. So any other building except Trinidad South and those mentioned are fair game. We didn't book a pirate room, just a regular standard room.

We are now thinking of going at the end of May through the beginning of June 2016. How is WDW then?

Are there pictures of the Reno rooms are. CBR?

My wife and I are surprising our daughters (14 and 8 at the time we go) with a trip to CBR in late May. We absolutely can't wait but most of the excitement is in the waiting to surprise them the morning of our flight!

Whoohoo! Nothing better than WDW surprises!

Sorry that I've been missing in action. This "new" Dis is throwing me for a loop and it's taken some getting used to. I'll be updating the Roll Call soon!

We just booked our trip December 8-14th at CBR. Two standard rooms. I was wondering (sorry if I missed the answer and this has been covered), how do you get a room with the pull down bed vs one without it? Do you have to book for 5 to get one of those? I didn't even know CBR had them till I saw the renovated room pictures. This is our first time staying here and we are so excited!

We'll be heading there right about the same time, though our kids are a lot younger (7, 6 & 4). We haven't told them that we're going yet either and since this will be our first family trip to WDW, I can hardly contain myself!
