We are arriving april 4th and staying through April 10th! So excited. We actually planned one day of no parks so we can explore the resort! We have stayed at Pop and POR. First time for CBR

Thanks for the bus answers! My husband just gets so frustrated with the stroller but I think the girls still need it!

How old are your girls? We brought our stroller with us last trip (2013) just for DD as DS was almost 7. He got so tired that we ended up renting a stroller one day for him (and honestly, should have done it much sooner). I don't think I'd take a chance of renting at the parks (they are expensive IMO if you need them often) and as PP mentioned, there's no guarantee that they'll have one when you need it. You could rent a smaller double from one of the stroller rental companies that might be less cumbersome. We rent a car when we go so the stroller and buses aren't an issue but I would hope in WDW of all places that the bus drivers would be patient with you while loading your stroller.

Will all of the 2 bed rooms have a trundle once the reno is finished?

No, not all of the queen rooms will accommodate 5. And the rooms that do will have a Murphy Bed (folds down from the wall) and not a Trundle Bed (slides out from under the bed).

Okay, thank you! I thought I read that somewhere but couldn't find it.

Was wondering if the bathroom area by the main pool had showers in it? Need to check out by 11 but not leaving until 5 and we were wanting to stay and use the pool if possible and be able to clean up :thanks:

Wanted to thank everyone here for the great information. We just got in last night from WDW staying at CBR for the first time. We have always loved POR, but agreed that in the future we will stay at CBR again. POR is wonderful (and thanks to cancelled flights we spent our last 2 days there) but we fell in love with the palm trees at CBR. It was a wonderful stay.

Thank you all again!

We arrived on Sunday. Our first day was a nightmare.

If they treat requests as just unguaranteed preferences, what can they really do if at the time of check-in, those requests can't be met? If the resort is full, there is not much they can do. I would hate to be a CM trying to maintain a cheery disposition with a full resort and guests refusing to be put in certain rooms. Unless you can start paying extra to guarantee your preferences, you are plugged into an algorithm and rooms assigned accordingly. You always read on this thread, "request Jamaica 45", or whatever, well obviously not everyone is going to get Jamaica 45. I hope we get our requests, but in the end, I'll be happy to just be there and away from 3 feet of snow.

WE ARE GOING TO ART OF ANIMATION!!!

I've upgraded us to a suite so we'll all be together and have plenty of space. Emms wanted to go to AofA in the first place, but they don't get the deals there.

I've requested blg 10 (Lion King) as first option, or blg 1 (Finding Nemo) as second choice - for mobility access etc.

So, it's been great knowing you, but I'm afraid I'm going to love you and leave you and jump ship to the AoA thread!

Hope you enjoy your stays - it's a great resort but they don't have suites and we really can't afford two rooms (it would cost £1,799 to add a second room - that's about $2,700 to you!).

I agree...it must be hard to be a CM with a full resort and potentially LOTS of unhappy guests. I think for the most part, they try as much as they can to stay cheery. But they are only human.

I was wondering, as I'm new to this board (but a longtime "resident" of CBR):

1: how often do people actually not get a room at CBR when that is where they booked, and
2: how often are people moved to the Pirate Rooms being told it's an upgrade?

This is my first time there in the summer, and I have to say, I'm actually quite nervous about this happening to us. I would be extremely unhappy if I was put in the pirate rooms. Not because of location, (we rent a car so that's not a huge deal). We stayed in the pirate rooms in 2011 and I thought they were the most uncomfortable beds I had ever slept in. I was so miserable (as much as one can be in Disney of course ;) ) that we almost called to see if they could move us to a regular room 2 days into our trip. I do not consider the Pirate Rooms to be an upgrade at all. The fact that they charge more for the worst rooms proves that WDW is being run by geniuses :)

Quite frankly, I was thinking about this last night after reading a previous post about this topic. I don't know what I will do if they want to move me to another resort. We love CBR so much and I know I would be quite unhappy with another mod. DS begged us for CBR because of the pool and nothing short of Stormalong Bay compares IMO and I'm sure that wouldn't happen. I know the deluxe resorts are beautiful, but there are a lot of them that really don't interest me at all. Each has their own great perks, but for every perk there's something I don't really like (except for Poly which is only a pipe dream for me).

Hoping that I don't have to deal with this, but would like to mentally prepare if it's a stronger possibility in the summer.

Thanks!!

I also agree. When you start requesting more and more things - connecting, location, room type, etc. - the inventory available under the best of circumstances diminishes. It's unreasonsble to expect every single request to be honored.

We have the Backstage Tales tour at AK booked during our stay. We have to be at guest relations at 7:15am so I know we can't do the buses. Can taxis pick you up at your building or would we have to go to the Custom House to be picked up?

During this current room refurb is the first time I have heard of somebody not being able to get a non-Pirate room and having to move to another resort.

It's rare that people are offered a Pirate Room. But every time a party is offered this, they try to sell it as an upgrade.

Buses start rolling at 6:30AM, so you could take a bus. But they also don't run as frequently that early so I would take a taxi. Taxis will pick you up in the circular drive of you building. My suggestion would be to call Bell Services the night before or by 6:00AM that morning and order a cab.

Can anyone share their opinion of Shutters? I'm debating how to handle our arrival day. We land at 2pm and as of now have an ADR for dinner at Raglan Road and planned on just spending the evening at DTD. But I'd like to have a relatively easy day and I'm starting to wonder if we should just hang at the resort and call it an early night so we can rest up and hit the parks first thing the next day. Is the TS restaurant good here? Anyone dined here with food allergies?

Shutters is a very good choice for your first night. A couple years ago I wouldn't have said that. They replaced the head chef a couple years ago and it has greatly improved. We have had 3 or 4 very good dinners there. They were very accommodating to my niece who has multiple food allergies. They actually made her feel special instead of a bother. The head chef came out and talked to her and my sister-in-law about what would work and what wouldn't. :thumbsup2
