Looking at CBR for March. What is the status of the refurb, will the preferred rooms be done by then?

Just popping in for some....hmmmm, reinforcement?

3 nights at Pop would be ~$130 cheaper.

I'm leaning towards CBR...anyone wanna tilt me over? :) The things for me that would make a difference are: feeling of seclusion, atmosphere, quiet. For reference, I love the AB section of POR.

Maura

Ok, I will preface this with, I haven't stayed at CBR yet, but will in 33 days...BUT from all the research and looking at photos, and discussion here, CBR looks to be very much like AB at POR in layout and set-up, just different themeing.

Because of this, we were happy to get a free dining stay here, and upgraded from POP ourselves.

I don't like the motel 6 layout of the values, and the size of the rooms are too small. $130 more for the entire trip is nothing...little over $40 a day difference...is the more relaxed feel and seclusion worth $40 a day.

Our first stay was at ASMv and then our second at POR AB...and we knew we never wanted to go back to value...and it was really weighing on us that for the first month of our planning, we were looking at having to do just that. I am thrilled to have this stay coming up and can't wait to explore CBR.

And again, I just want to say 33 DAYS!!! Leaving town in 31 days!!! Got the Mickey mail yesterday with our luggage tags and paperwork in it.

I bet they would be...or at least some of them...they are almost to them now (last report said they were starting Martinique, and we know they will be taking a break from working on them in the holiday rush time...but I would think between Jan and March they should be at least half way done maybe all of Martinique done, with only Trinidad North left.

But this is just a guess, your mileage may vary.

They are definitely rocking on with the refurb. It began in May, 2014 and they have completed Jamaica, Aruba and are finishing up the last building in Barbados. Someone reported very recently that they saw what looked like work starting in one of the non-preferred Martinique buildings. Since there are preferred rooms in Martinique and all of Trinidad North are preferred, I'm betting that some of the preferred rooms will be done but I'm not sure if they will all be complete by March.

Thank you for the update. I really do not know if I want to chance not getting a refurbed room w/queen beds. Might have to wait to give CBR another go:(

Beautiful new thread. :thumbsup2

I am crossing my fingers that the new 5 person rooms will become available to book for a mid-June trip. Anyone think there's any hope?

We have only been able to stay here once (we brought my parents and booked two rooms). We currently have a POR/Dolphin split stay planned for June, but we would love to be able to try CBR again.

The room we are in is a 5 person room. Jamaica 4103. So they are available!

Just returned from our trip 10/27 - 11/3 and I wanted to say that the new beds are pure heaven!! If I could have stuck one in my suitcase and brought it back on the plane with me I would have! We stayed in Aruba (water view) - great job on updating, rooms looked great! and these beds...:thumbsup2

Can we pretty-please-with-sugar-on-top be added to the roll call??

We are staying December 21-28, 2014!! First timers at CBR...or any mod resort, for that matter. Getting so excited!!

Hello again gang! Home now but still on the post-Disney high.Slowly wearing off though as reality comes crashing in. Just wanted to offer some pics of our room & the resort that i Took, including a shot of the available storage in the bathrooms in a renovated King-room.

I know there are some that are completed, but as of now a family of 5 is unable to make a reservation for one room at CBR because they still have the occupancy limited to 4. I'm hoping they will allow booking for parties of 5 soon.

That's always a bit of a bummer, getting used to life outside the "Disney bubble", again isn't it?

Did you by any chance get an impression of whether the king beds were replaced during the refurb or did the old ones get put back in? Not that I had any complaints about the old ones, just curious. :)

OMG that is the exact phrase that my hubby used when we briefly considered using the Universal tickets we had with us ... "i don't want to leave the DISNEY BUBBLE"

About the beds? !st thing hubby said when he simply sat on the bed was "I LOVE THIS BED" and 1st thing he said when he climbed into ours 'I MISS MY DISNEY BED" add to that the fact that it was 3:30 a.m. so any bed should have felt good! Never slept on the others but i would venture a guess that they are new :thumbsup2

I will be there next week. Does anybody know which buildings are refurbished?

We requested a standard room. Thanks!

All of the buildings in Jamaica and Aruba are complete. The last report was all but one of the buildings in Barbados are complete and they started on one of the non-preferred Martinique buildings about a week ago.

I did on line check in and clicked the option to check in as early as possible and be notified via text when the room is ready. Our flight lands at noon, is there a chance I will get a text before 3 or does this only apply to rooms being checked into after 3pm?

Back home today from our stay at CBR. We had changed our dates because of the new military discount and looked forward to our stay. CBR use to be our fav resort and we stopped going because the rooms were getting shabby. We heard about the reno and booked a room in Jamaica. Love the new rooms!!... BUT...we were near a smoking area. Didn't matter where we were because people were smoking on the balcony, sidewalks, quiet pool, etc. And yes, we asked to be moved but the other areas were just as bad.

I really wish people would follow the rules so non-smokers can enjoy their vacation too!!!

That will be our last stay there.

did you contact a CM about the smokers?
