You just never know with weather. We were there for Christmas 2009 from Dec 20 to New Years Day. It was cold, really cold on some days. So cold that on one of the days it was warmer here in Western Canada than it was in Orlando! We alway pack accordingly. :)

Yeah, Christmas 2010 aka the year of the Christmas Blizzard in the Northeast (I know, I was stranded until New Year's Day) it was so cold the day we went to Animal Kingdom we ended up leaving much earlier than we'd planned because we were so cold. And other than my sister, we are NOT from Florida!

Hi,

We are a family of 5 so we haven't been able to stay at CBR in a looong time. I was looking at choices for our trip next year (we usually stay at POR, but with it being excluded from free dining this year I was looking at other choices) and stumbled across the fact that CBR is getting some murphy beds.. :cool1: I'm hoping that they will be a bookable category for next Christmas, but I will be waiting to see what promotions are offered before we book. It would be great to get back to CBR though. We honeymooned here in 1999. I think the kids would love it and my husband prefers it to POR. So crossing my fingers. I'm off to back read to get up to date on CBR.

I haven't been there yet during this time, but one of my friends is there right now. I started packing last night for our trip on Thursday. She said to bring layers as its been a bit chilly, but I also noticed the weather dipped down a bit there this weekend. She said its nice during the day, but once that sun goes down it gets chilly fast.

Supposed to be highs near 75-80 this week with lows in the 50s...so my guess is pants/capris in the morning with maybe a tank and hoodie/sweatshirt...that way you can take the layers off and maybe bring a pair of shorts if you get too hot?

I tried packing last night and I feel like I brought a little bit of everything since there is going to be such a difference in temps between morning, day, and night.

Hope this helps!

I think you are right - just to bring a little of everything! My only concern was that we tend to stay from park opening til park closing with no breaks in between and just didn't wanna have to lug too much around all day. Better to be safe than sorry though . . . or cold!! Thanks for your help!

We stay at the parks open to close and basically just need a place to sleep/shower.

Due to late booking, had to take Caribbean resort. Not that I have a choice, but is it really worth it?

No. You should cancel your trip.

Just kidding. You're posting on a CBR fan thread. Of course we think it's worth it!

:worship: Thank you Lisa amazing job on the new thread. Looking forward to more trip reports and pictures. We arrive late Jan. so until then I will lurking and dreaming.

Please add us to the roll call. We will be there January 11-16. Looking forward to our stay at CBR! :cool1:

Thanks Mickeystoontown!

We arrive Saturday - wondering what weather is like. Can't decide if we should pack shorts or pants. We've only ever been in Spring time, where it's nice in the day time, but a little chilly at night. Is it similar to that in November? Any tips are appreciated . . .

We just arrived home yesterday. For the first two days it was chilly, and we're Canadians who have spent the last 10 years in the US Northeast. I was glad we had pants packed. For the rest of the trip it was t-shirts and shorts. On some nights when we arrived back in time to catch the movie by the pool I would grab a light jacket because it was cool when we were just sitting. It still didn't stop my DH and kids from post-movie swims though, with no complaints walking back to the room afterwards. Daytime was warm in the shade, hot in the sun. Basically perfect! We gave up dragging around hoodies to the parks after the second day of not needing them. Hope this helps!

That is encouraging!

We have a single stroller and booster seat to give away. We are not taking it home so if anyone needs a stroller PM me. We are leaving Sunday morning and can leave it or arrange to meet

For those asking about weather, it has been chilly and rainy here the last couple of days. We brought a blanket for Fantasmic last night and were very happy to have it!

We are in Jamaica building 41 and our room has one of the new pull down beds! My son who is 5'5" just barely fits on it, so I'd say anyone shorter could sleep on it without an issue, but it is definitely child sized. It's very narrow. My kids both said it was comfortable, although neither is actually sleeping on it. :)

We were at POR that Dec...and the first part of our stay was nice, DD got some pool time in, then by mid trip it was cold...low 40's in the morning...but since it was right above freezing in Texas when we left, we had our coats with us...made for some nice morning walks to see the fog coming off the lakes...certainly made it feel like Christmas!

If all you want is sleeping and grooming facilities, then yes...they have beds and showers. Rooms are the largest you can get without paying deluxe prices, and even if you are just in the room briefly, the larger size helps with the process of getting everyone ready and out the door.

We rarely do much in the resort except for arrival day (see above about swimming) but have found the moderates such as CBR to be perfect for our park open to close methods...much more relaxing during those down hours...we will only do a value if last resort. Just too tight of quarters for us.

Just popping in for some....hmmmm, reinforcement?

I'm going to WDW for Marathon weekend (solo)....strictly cheering, no running (been there, done that) and I am currently juggling 2 reservations--one at Pop, and one at CBR. I managed to get the Winter RO discount + 20% off that through Orbitz, so the price is nearly reasonable. Never done CBR before. I do love POR, though.

3 nights at Pop would be ~$130 cheaper. Just trying to decide if the extra cost is worth it. I always said I'd never do values, but I've gotten used to/grown fond of Pop. (The days of snagging Deluxe for under $200/nt are long gone!)

I'm leaning towards CBR...anyone wanna tilt me over? :) The things for me that would make a difference are: feeling of seclusion, atmosphere, quiet. For reference, I love the AB section of POR.

Anyone know if CBR is impacted by the cheer competitions? Looking to book a trip the end of April, beginning of May but have recently found out there will be cheer competitions that first weekend in May. We were going to stay at POP or one of the All Star resorts, but now thinking of spending the extra money to avoid the cheerleaders. So I was wondering if CBR is another resort they will stay? Also, what is theor impact on the parks? TIA! :-)

Can we please be added to the roll call, our dates are 12/22-12/26/14. So I have a question about the refurbed rooms. It looks like there's only a top sheet on the beds. Is there a heavier blanket underneath? I'm assuming I could request something heavier from Mousekeeping if need be, but I'd like to know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly. TIA

There is a very light comforter, but I have had to put two on to be comfortable.

Just read a PP that mentions they faxed their request and got it. Has anyone else been successful with a fax request at CBR? I just sent a fax today (checking in on Friday) and I do have my requested noted on the reservation. Just curious on the percentage the fax requests work here.

I called on my request, and was granted all three wishes!!

We will be there 4/8-12 for Spring Break and my DS's 17th birthday! :)

We stayed at CBR 11/1-11/7 and LOVED the resort! For any first timers, you are in for a treat! :goodvibes

Our dates have changed since I originally asked to be added to the Roll Call.

Lisa, can you please change me to May 16-23? Thankya, ma'am!

I don't think we'll change again now that I booked our flights. Although, if the need were to arise, changing flights is free on Southwest. (Southwest rocks!)
