Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Yeah, the slices are expensive but my guess is that you could easily share one slice between three people. So I think of it more as $6/pp 🤣

I'm more excited for afternoon tea service. I miss the service at GF so much. We'll be staying at Boardwalk in December so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and leaving some space in our schedule 🄰

I really prefer reasonably sized desserts. That way I feel like I can eat it. Otherwise, I will probably be too full to even split it with my husband and will just pass or only get dessert.

Tea would be awesome! I loved the GF tea.

Have you had a Cheese Cake or Carrot Cake slice at the Cheese Cake Factory for example?

The Cake Bake slices are very large and quite tall 3 layer slices. For reference the base cakes start about $105 and a 6-inch cake that serves 8-12. The image blow is a Raspberry Champaign Cake that starts at $115.

No, I don't go to the Cheesecake Factory.

If I want cheesecake, I go to Juniors. Which is still less than $18 for a slice.

Sorry---but $18 for a slice of cake is crazy pants....and $65 for tea service!! Maybe it doesn't seem too out-of-line for folks who live in a larger city. For me, having grown up in the south and living in the midwest, I don't care if that slice has gold shavings on it, I just can't do it. Honestly, my favorite cake is the cake I make myself. A homemade. from scratch, old fashioned chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. Chef's kiss. As for sharing a piece of cake, that only works if others in your party all want the same type of cake.

Luckily for everyone, I won't be in line taking their cake. Enjoy! In January, I will be in line at FotArts hopefully getting a chorizo empanada and a passion fruit mousse :lovestruc

Not sure where to find this information. How many refillable mug stations are at the Boardwalk and where are they located?

The BoardWalk Deli on the boardwalk which is open 7am-10pm and has brewed coffee, three types of tea, and a soda fountain. Also Leaping Horse Libations bar at Luna Park Pool (only open during pool hours) currently 11 AM - 9 PM. You can't refill your own mug the bartender must refill for you.

I hate that Leaping Horse doesn’t have a self serve station. So annoying! I’m honestly not even sure we’re going to get a mug this time. Boardwalk seems such a hassle to even refill them.

To each their own! I wouldn't be able to finish a piece of cake that size solo. I used to work at Cheesecake Factory and couldn't finish a slice of Linda's Fudge Cake by myself, which is pretty comparable in size. And for reference, LFC has 1400 calories, so I'm not sure it was even meant to be eaten by one person.

(Quick edit to add: Cake Bake's Millionaire cake slice is apparently 2500 calories 😱)

But hey, I also share the vacation mindset of calorie counting is for real life not vacation, so no judgement here!

my point is that most Americans would easily eat that slice of cake. That is a normal portion for American standards. $18 (or more since Disney Tax) for a normal size slice of cake is too much IMHO.

Twinkling Lights Testing at The Cake Bake Shop as Construction Nears Completion

Construction of The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s Boardwalk is finally nearing completion. Crews have been installing gutters and testing newly installed lighting fixtures.

The Cake Bake Shop Construction

A building under renovation with construction barriers surrounding it. The white, multi-story structure features multiple windows and a large central turret. The sky is clear and sunny.

Last week, we reported that The Cake Bake Shop had installed more lighting fixtures, signs, and details. The new Disney’s BoardWalk venue started hiring for multiple positions back in March.

A worker in a high-visibility vest stands on a ladder fixing or inspecting the exterior of a large, white two-story building surrounded by construction barriers displaying food images.
During our last visit, we saw a construction crew member working on the exterior gutters near the restaurant entrance.

A construction worker in a yellow vest and hard hat climbs a ladder to a white building, with a decorative restaurant sign in the background. There is a white construction barrier in the foreground.

When we were watching crews at work, we noticed that both of The Cake Bake Shop signs were testing their embedded twinkling lights.

A person in a yellow vest stands on a ladder next to a white building with ornate signage that reads Cake Bake Shop and Restaurant. A construction barrier features images of desserts and people.
Dozens of these miniature lights flicker in a glittering golden pattern. This effect will be easier to see during the evening, but it is such a fun addition to what would be a typical restaurant sign.

Here, the crew member is attaching a water spout to the gutter. The water spout is covered by the exterior wall running down the building.

A light blue and white Cake Bake Shop storefront sign with gold lettering is illuminated by four lights under a clear blue sky.
Here is a closer look at the twinkling lights on the sign. You can see where some of them are off and others are on at different intensities.

A building under construction is surrounded by white fences displaying images of food and the message Coming Soon. The scene takes place on a wooden boardwalk under a clear blue sky.

From this angle, it appears that the wall touching the BoardWalk has been painted. Previously, this wall was still a concrete gray. There were construction crews inside the restaurant as well, and while we couldn’t see them, we could hear them working.

If you click on the article link, you can also see a video of the twinkle lights at night.

I have been told by a very knowledgeable bus driver that Disney food has no calories. It was confirmed by multiple CM's so it must be true. šŸ˜šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‚

How far in advance do they typically announce the opening of a new restaurant? One month? Three months?

No chance they're opening in two weeks, right?
