Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

It is zero entry and will have a splash pad. With the Goofy jets completely removed at Pop with no replacement planned, I think the splash pad will likely be a big draw for potential pool-hoppers.
I hadn't realized that Goofy's Pop Jet Playground was closed.

I did a little research and found out that the Nemo pool will also have a pool bar. You guys probably already knew that though...

I suspect that fence has a very practical purpose that might not have been thought of by the creative types who did the original concept art - to prevent the Nemo pool and splash pad from being an over-crowded free-for-all of pool hoppers walking over from Pop. Considering the price difference and limited standard room availability at AoA and the easy walk between the two resorts, you know there would be people booking Pop but planning on enjoying that unique-among-value-resorts feature pool. A fence allows Disney to use a key-check/wristband system to prevent that, the same way they do at Stormalong Bay.

This did not occur to me but it sounds like a good idea for the placement for the fence.

I saw it more as keeping the energetic young ones with Mommy and Daddy rather than heading off to the first puddle of water they see :rolleyes1 . . . at least that's what I'll tell my kids it's for.

But IF Pop and AoA are "sister resorts" like BC/YC and POFQ/POR and All-Stars, then pool hopping from Pop to AoA would be allowed.

Any other ideas on the reason for fencing...?
Maybe so that people dont cut through pool area with strollers ect heading from park back to room, or with luggage upon arrival/departure to wdw...?

From what others have said so far, these are not "sister resorts" as the others are and wouldn't be treated as such, so I don't think pool hopping will be allowed.

If 'Legendary Years' had been opened as they originally planned, then they would be "sister resorts". The themeing is what ties them together.

But these two have no themeing in common as the others you mentioned do.

I haven't seen anything that suggests Pop and AoA will truly be sister resorts. The distinct name and theme make me think they're just going to be neighbors.

Yeah, the Goofy jets were closed before our first Pop stay and the sprinkler parts removed entirely by our second. :sad2:

Most (maybe all?) of Disney's resorts have a bar near the main pool so I kind of figured AoA would as well. After all, us parents need something to do while the kids swim. ;)

"the sprinkler parts"...? you mean the kiddie fountain pool by hippy dippy??they are taking those out of Pop too? for heavens sake, why are they ruining Pop?!?:(

If the fence is to keep Pop guest out, then they need to put a fence around the pop pool to keep the AOA guest out...I'm just saying.:rolleyes1

No, not by the kiddie pool. Those bubbler jets are working same as they always have, and my 3yo loved them.

I meant the plumbing for the Goofy jets. For a long time the jets were closed/not working but the plumbing was still there and we heard sporadic reports from Pop guests that a CM said they'd be fixed by this or that date. It went on that way for over a year that I'm aware of, maybe longer. But some time between our 3/11 trip and our 1/12 trip they actually tore up the area and removed the sprinkler/jet system completely (and cleaned up/repainted Goofy & his Corvette).

whew!!!

I wonder if the lion king playground will be open at the end of august? I know the suites won't be...just curious.

I guess I read the description wrong. When it said pool bar, I thought it meant bar stool seats in the pool. I guess that would probably be a bad idea though.

Will the bridge still connect Pop to AoA?

I hope the new mini fridges are part of normal construction for The Little Mermaid standard rooms ..as well as the Free Wi-Fi :)

I personally hope these resorts aren't considered "sisters". Since AOA will be so new I can see tons of POP guests using the pool.. and therefore it being much busier!!

Please forgive for I didn't read the whole 74 pages.. But why would the POP guests use the AoA pool? Will AoA have a pool slide? Or what makes it so special that POP guest will run to AoA besides that the fact that it's a new resort, new pool? Can the guests even cross the bridge? Thanks.. :)

I feel the same way. We booked the Cars suite in August for our family of 5 and paid a hefty premium for the suite. We could easily have picked two adjoining rooms at one of the other values for less money, or a family suite at ASMu, but we wanted the cool pool and theming of the AoA. I think if they let everybody pool hop from POP, then the pools at AoA could get unbearably crowded.

The pool in the Nemo section is the biggest resort pool on Disney property. It's got the cool splash pad, plus a zero entry for the little kids. It is in the middle of a highly themed courtyard that mimics the underwater theme of Finding Nemo. I'd think a lot of folks would want to go to that pool, even without a slide.

I was so excited when I heard that AoA would be a value resort, however, when I went to book a suite, I found the price to be surprisingly high. I could stay at a mod for less. Does anyone know if these prices are going to be the norm or are they just super high because it’s a new resort? I really want to stay at AoA as it would be great for our family, but the price is way above our budget.

I however, would love it if they were sister resorts since then I would book POP (even though we don't really love it) and I would pool / food court hop over to AOA at least once. Please don't throw things at me for saying that.

If you could go over the bridge but they were not considered sister resorts I would still book POP for our January vacation. We would go over to look at the theming and eat there a time or 2 but we would NOT use the pool - yup we're rule followers!

I am hoping they WILL be sister resorts. we fell in love with pop, and have been looking forward for a long time to them opening up the "other half"... we always walk across the "bridge to nowhere" :rotfl:.

at the allstars, you can pool hop. no, one pool isn't much greater than another.. just a dif. view, dif. experience.

I thought they could have done a lot with the "legendary years " theme, but I know it would "go over the heads" of not only kids, but most of their parents!!:lmao:

regardless, we looked forward to the finishing of the "enitre " pop resort, as it would expand the resort experience.

I will be very diappointed if they are not sister resorts. either way, I at least hope they keep the bridge open so pop guests can easily use the AOA food court (anyone, even offsite guests, can eat at any restaurant or food court at any disney resort)

hubby and I will definitely stay at AOA when the mermaid rooms are completed. ( In aug, we will have 2 rooms at pop with our soon, his wife, and our grandson. sometimes a week together for 2 families in a small suite is a little "too much" togetherness.)

if the bridge is open, and they do not allow pool hopping from pop to AOA, I agree with a PP.. I hope they don't allow it the "other way", then. (why would anyone want to? the nemo pool might get crowded, and people always want to try a dif. pool, just for the heck of it. )

Could anyone tell me if the Finding Nemo Family suites will have outside walkways with rooms opening onto the walkways (like Pops does), OR will there be central hallways? From the pictures I have seen it appears that all the family suites buildings will have central hallways, but Little Mermaid rooms will have the outside walkways. Thanks for the info!

Yes, you are correct...the suite buildings (Nemo, Cars, Lion King) all have indoor hallway access to doors. No balconies sadly, just windows on the outside of the buildings. Little Mermaid rooms will have outside access like POP and All Stars. :thumbsup2
