We took the sunrise safari on December 8th. It is definitely worth the money!

There were 6 small children on our safari, though, I would say under 4 years old - not old enough for them to be reasoned with. I doubt they or their parents got anything whatsoever out of the safari, since they cried, whined, shrieked and wiggled through the entire thing.

The Tusker house staff had gone to great lengths to make the buffet a beautiful, upscale breakfast presentation and set up the room nicely, as it would be on a true safari. The first thing these two families did was rearrange the seating to suit themselves. It was just as well - everyone else was staying as far away from them as possible, by that time!

I URGE anyone, either adult or families with children old enough to be civilized in public - take advantage of the safari if you can. It is a wonderful opportunity to be close up and personal with the animals, and enjoy a wonderful, special and spectacular breakfast.

I urge anyone with smaller children - - don't do it! They'll be miserable, and so will you and everyone else around you.

Where are the deluxe sav. rooms located? Are they all close together or spread out?:jester:

Hey, gang, since my original on-line photo albums were *lost* with the demise of PhotoPoint.com (ARGGGG!), I am in the process of re-creating them. I have just loaded my brand-new one-bedroom suite photos into my brand-new Yahoo photo album. They will be found here:
AKL One-Bedroom Suitehttp://new.photos.yahoo.com/janettwokay/album/576460762326623349#page1 (Parlor Room)
AKL One-Bedroom Suitehttp://new.photos.yahoo.com/janettwokay/album/576460762326623203#page1 (Master Bedroom)

I will try to put my two-bedroom suite photos into that new location within the next few weeks. Please be patient with me.

I am very excited to see the AKL FAQ, since we are staying there in July. I just wanted to add a quick comment, so that I would be able to get email notification when new comments are added...:D

..and loved it. I will post a trip report this weekend but in the meantime.. any AKL questions??? (or any questions for that matter...)

I just went through every post of mine in this thread and fixed all the broken or obsolete links. Of course some things were lost forever due to the Dis’ moving to another server two months ago, drats.

A week or two ago I put my AKL two-bedroom suite photos into my on-line photo album. I'll just post the links below:

std view rooms -- If you look at the map

http://www.wdwig.com/aklmap3.jpgv

the standard view rooms are mostly in the front of the resort, overlooking the parking areas.

The bus area is on the lower right side of the map, below the Giraffe trail rooms. I would ask for an upper floor room on Ostrich trail, or ask for a quiet upper floor room away from the bus area. You could specify 4th or 5th floor. 3rd floor is ground level on this side of the lodge.

If you look at these pics from Deb wills site, you can see that a 5th floor ostrich trail standard view room isn't bad. It should be quiet. That side of the lodge is above the handicapped parking lot & shouldn't get a lot of foot traffic. The Giraffe trail side will have a zillion people heading to the busses all day long!

I hope that helps!

We booked a Deluxe Sav. room for the end of June. We were told it was the best way to guarantee we get a great room to view the animals in the early morning. My question is this: Is the Sunrise Safari tour only for concierge? It seems you have to choose between the tour or the guarantee of a good Savannah view - doesn't seem concierge offers that much more. Any thoughts?

We are in a concierge deluxe sav. room in June.I know that the Sunrise Safari tour has changed a bunch since we were there last year so can't really give you accurate info.At that time it was only offered to concierge guests. It was well worth it:)I guess it is everyones own individual taste on whether concierge services is worth it or not. How much do you think you will use the lounge and services? It is really relaxing sitting on your balcony watching the animals. It does help to bring a pair of binoculars.Have a great time on your trip!:)

I can tell you that the concierge services, thus far, have been unbelievably impressive, and I haven't even gotten there yet!

We don't go until July, but I sent an email to the concierge desk a few days ago, asking some basic questions. So far, Alana, one of the concierge crew at AKL, has written to me about four times. I had planned to make my own PS, but I mentioned them to her, and she simply made the PS. So much easier than a long distance call!!

I wasn't even sure if she could make my PS, because we are going to DW for 18 days, but only 3 of them are in AKL Concierge - the rest are for Caribbean Beach. And, when I stay in AKL there are only 3 of us, but for the rest of the trip there are 13. She has been willing to make PS for all 13 of us, during the period I am not even in AKL!! Very impressive!

I can't wait to enjoy the rest of the imenities. However, I am already feeling like I have gotten my money's worth!!

If you like those Zebra domes they usually have those for dessert plus a few African wines and cordials. Appetizers can be some of the same ones you find in Boma.AKL is one of our fav concierge services out of all the resorts. Haven't tried YC yet. They go out of their way to help you out. One of the CM(forget his name:o) does a wonderful Donald Duck complete with puppet.:)

Sounds like you are going to have a heck of a party at CBR.Have fun!:)

DisneyaHolic23-

Alanna worked with us in December when we were there, and she and the rest of the Concierge crew were FANTASTIC!!!

I keep meaning to send them a little something to thank them, and this just reminded me again....

Have a great trip!!

A little off topic, but what is your opinion on Disney concierge CM not being able to accept tips?IMHO it is not right as valets, baggage CMs etc are allowed to accept. The concierge staff at some of the resorts (particularly the AKL and Polynesian) have bent over backwards for us in the past.

OK up too early. Not thinking straight and this may sound dumb.:o Are you talking about flying nights? If not ?
