Brandi, I'm surprised that DizDaD7 hasn't asked you to add him to your list....:confused3

Just returned yesterday from a 4-night stay. We had a standard room and ended up in 4318 on the Kudu Trail. It was a bit far from the Mara but not too bad. It was my first stay at the AKL, and we had a great time. Saw so many animals from our balcony, even a giraffe on our last night.

We weren't impacted by the construction. There were two times where I heard it. On Saturday, we got a later start and were in our room around 9ish. We did here people doing some pretty heavy work in the room above us. It wasn't deafening but did include drilling. The same thing happened on Monday as we were packing for our departure.

It really didn't affect us, and there was nothing happening on our floor from what I could tell. As long as you plan to spend the majority of the days in the parks, I don't think it will be a big deal if you aren't on the upper floors.

This was my experience too last week. I was worried since I received the e-mail and a note was left in my room when I checked in about possible construction noise. Didn't spot any construction work. I stayed in Jambo level 4 for what it's worth.

Same here. We were in 4223 from Jan 9-16 and neither saw nor heard any trace of refurb activity while in our room or in the club lounge (or anywhere for that matter).

So excited to be going to AKL again in June. We just went in Sept. '15 and stayed at AKL for the first time. I wasn't sure how I'd like being farther away from the parks, but we absolutely fell in love with the resort. The resort is one of the main reasons we're going back again so soon. I've never gone twice in a year's time before! Could you please add me to the list? Staying at AKL from June 4-11. A little nervous about summer crowds, but extremely excited nonetheless!

....thanks for the construction update! :thumbsup2

Why are you shocked????? When did you think we were going?

I was trying to book last minute thing, and actually had great ticket prices for flights out of Newark too, and availability at SSR, but she doesn't want to do 3 trips this year...

Jambo everyone,

I just booked (well switched from GF - long story) to AKL! I'm actually quite excited about it; I haven't stayed at AKL since 2003! I booked a Pool View room due to budget. I booked a Bunk Bed room, but when I got the confirmation it was just a Pool View. I assume it should say Bunk Bed if we booked Bunk Beds. My real question is (and I'm asking opinions):

Do you think I should leave it the way it is and politely ask for a room with bunk beds when I check in, or should i call and change it? It does save us $100 to not book the bunk beds, and it's not a deal breaker to have 2 queens (I just thought it would be nice not to share a bed with my 15 year old nephew).

Thanks in advance for your opinions! I'm so excited for AKL!!!

Ok so I decided to rent a DVC room at Jambo House today. I am not telling my wife or our 2 kids until the day before we fly out (will probably kill me keeping the secret). Please tell me some things to expect and can someone please tell me the estimated times to the parks since I have read that this is the farthest resort. TIA

Thank you very much for your response. I got us a studio as well. Anything in particular you recommend doing at the resort?

Hi everyone! I just booked AKL for my April trip and I'm so excited! AKL was actually the first resort my boyfriend and I ever explored back when we first became AP holders in 2013. We've always wanted to stay there and since he's graduating college and moving to NYC, we won't have APs anymore for a long time. I'm excited to stay here and experience what we've been imagining since we first stepped foot in the beautiful lobby!!! Sorry for the novel, I just never thought we would be able to stay at a Deluxe until the far future!

If they notify you of refurbs, does that mean you have an option of switching resorts? I am booked for Nov 26th to Dec 10th

You almost always have the option of switching resorts. But if you switch to a resort/room that costs more $$ you usually will have to pay the difference.

thank you. Sorry to be off topic, but how do i change my ticker? I have forgotten and can't find any info.

Thank you very much for your response. I got us a studio as well. Anything in particular you recommend doing at the resort?

Eat! Seriously, the food at this resort is fantastic (I've stayed at several Deluxes and this is my favorite). If you like buffets, definitely do Boma for breafast and lunch/dinner. I have one extremely picky eater and we did great at both of these. The Mara is also a great option for quick service. We didn't eat at Jiko last time because it wasn't in our budget, but I know that is also a highly rated restaurant and might be a great date night activity! We absolutely loved the pool area. It's gorgeous during the day and at night. They also have movies each night for the kids in the pool area. Don't know your kids' ages but this was one of my 5 year old's favorite activities of the trip. The lobby and lookout areas are great to just sit and relax.

Thank you for your response. I have an 8 year old and a teenager. I will definitely look at the restaurants. We always do dining plan and most of our quick services are done at the resort so Mara will be used daily.

We have an AKL stay April 24th-30th. Booked a Pool view , We booked through Chase ultimate Rewards points so not too sure what we are getting. If I call Disney can they confirm what type of room besides Pool view this is? ie 2x queen or is that something we can request in advance?

Check Out: Apr 30 before 11:00 AM
Guests: 2 Adults, 2 Children
