Not sure - when we did it 2 years ago I called.
We had 2 animal specialists, the main one and another in training who worked with the giraffes. Both were very interesting - very easy going chat and you learn a lot about the animals at AKL and usually some info about the animals over in AK too. The food selection for Sanaa was fun as well, I'm not sure so check but the minimum age may be 8?
We we last did it, there was a suggested minimum age of 8 but they allowed you to book younger than that. Looks like they have changed it to a firm minimum.

What ages have y'all put in the bunk beds. Older DS will be 5.5. We don't have bunks at home so he's never slept in one. Is that a good age for the top bunk or would you still be concerned that he's young to be at the top? Love the idea of the kids sleeping separately as opposed to sharing a queen but want to be sure it's safe.

We bought my 5 yo DD a loft bed for Christmas and she's fine. Granted it's only about 48" high but she's not fell off it yet.

There is safety rails on the top bunk. That you need a key to undo, I think housekeeping keeps those keys (or tool). Because I didn't see one around the room.

We are here now. My kids are a little disappointed that the pool wasn't open yesterday. Maybe today.

Is there anywhere I can find a map to show where different room types are located? We have booked a standard room in Jambo House and I was wondering where those rooms would be located. Thanks!

I've never stayed at AKL before, but looking to stay there for our next trip. I see rooms along the Kudu Trail mentioned a lot. What are the reasons for the Kudu Trail to be a hot request?

The Arusha Savannah is the busiest with animals (giraffe, zebra, etc) so I believe that's why it's sought after?

Hi everyone! I just booked AKL for my April trip and I'm so excited! AKL was actually the first resort my boyfriend and I ever explored back when we first became AP holders in 2013. We've always wanted to stay there and since he's graduating college and moving to NYC, we won't have APs anymore for a long time. I'm excited to stay here and experience what we've been imagining since we first stepped foot in the beautiful lobby!!! Sorry for the novel, I just never thought we would be able to stay at a Deluxe until the far future!
....well, congrats! It's a vacation within a vacation...you are going to LOVE it!

AKL villas 1 Bedroom at Jambo house renting DVC points December 11-16

DH, DD and grandkids first time at AKL

Hi all! We are so excited to add a night at AKL at the beginning of our trip, March 11th.
We used AA Advantage miles, since we have plenty to burn, and reserved 1 Bedroom - Savannah View Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani Village . There are 5 of us. (It says 1 king, queen pullout and sleeper chair)
This is my 45th Birthday week, so I wanted something special to add. (We then move to the Dolphin, then Hard Rock, and down to Marco Island for relaxation.) :)

My questions-parking, is there parking close, so we don't have to walk forever to our room?
We will have our car.
Any recommendations on where to request our room? We have Boma reservations, but can drive over if it's an easy drive from our room.
We'll probably use the pool that evening, but really we are just hoping for a savannah view to come thru for our one night "splurge"! :goodvibes
Any advice is welcome, so excited AA added some Disney resorts for miles, I used them in October for the Poly. :)

Parking is close! It's an underground garage. It's a very short walk (approx 10 mins) to Jambo but they also run a continuous shuttle van.

Thank you for the response!! We have never been to AKL in all our trips, and I kept reading how much walking you do at the resort, I was a bit nervous. Hard to judge on the map. Underground parking is awesome! 10 minutes to eat is nothing. YAY!
So excited-thanks again!!
Have always wanted to try Boma, so it's booked for dinner arrival night, and breakfast in the AM, :)

Hi, all! I WAS really excited about our family's first AKL Jambo House reservation, which I made today, until I started reading about the refurb. We rented DVC points for a Savannah-view studio from May 22-27. I'm a bit worried now!
Hi!
I am looking at the option to rent DVC points for the AKL studio Savannah view as well. Can I ask how far in advance you booked your room? Also, did you go through a broker? Thank you so much!

Returned last week from our first stay at AKL, split stay there and the Poly. We were at the lodge 1/15-1/18 in Jambo room 5468. We had a wonderful pool view and fell in love with the resort; this trip was just DH and I and we plan on going back with the kids on our next trip!

As far as construction, we didn't see or hear anything :) I actually forgot there was supposed to be any going on until I came back to this thread lol

We will be staying at akl standard view room 26/10 till 9/11. Very excited as we managed to stay there one night a few years ago on dvc points. This time we got a package through Disney uk with dining. One question for all you lovely people out there... We are a family of five. Two adults, one 7 year old, one 5 year old and our littleist one will be 2 when we go, we've requested a bunk bed room but know the chances of gettin that are slim, was just wondering where you can fit the cot in as this is where our little one would sleep.
Also we were thinking of having cereal in the room on some mornings, how easy do you think this might be. We could bring kids bowls from home and buy cereal and milk as well have a car hire, but just wondering what other peoples Experiences of eating a small bite in the room was. Thanks

When our boys were young, we'd bring an Aerobed (inflatable twin) with us and it fit between the beds. It would also fit over near the balcony door by moving the table a bit. Breakfast in our room was the norm for us back then, also. We'd grab cereal, milk fruit and yogurt at the grocery store on our way from the airport, and I'd bring disposable bowls and spoons from home. Worked out great!
