We just changed the dates of our trip from March to Dec 17-26 (2016). My sister and her family decided they wanted to go and Dec was the only time they could do it. Even though my trip is further away, now we get to go at Christmas time and stay 2 days longer

I am booked DVC CL studio May 27,28,29 and DVC value studio May 30 &31. I have not received a letter yet.
Sounds like people have been getting letters for a month or more. I called IPO (got number from their email offering to help with plans) and inquired. IPO I talked with was at GF, and she had no idea about it. She said phone line at AKV must have been busy, so it went to her. Then she looked up, and read the standard script about 9-5 noise. She said no they wouldn't close the club lounge, then when I told her what I had read, she said well maybe they would. Like oh well, so sad, too bad. When I told her I had read they might move it to Presidential Suite, she said maybe they would. She was really useless.
I don't need IPO "helping with my plans", but I would like the letter and options available, if any. Those dates, May 26-June 1, are almost all gone already.

Staying here 16th-18th February for a few days before Princess Half Weekend! I've never stayed before, but have heard great things.

We're looking to take things easy and just hang around the resort as we've got 3 races ahead of us. I've seen there are a lot of activities available, but are there any in particular people would recommend/any that are not worth it?

Also, are there any particular places we should put in a request for on our room?

Any general advice would be much appreciated - zebra domes are currently top of my list

I'm checking in CL tomorrow. I'll report back with any info regarding the refurb. It's only a quick 3 day stay but hopefully long enough to assess any noise or general vacation disruption.

I need advice from the AKL experts! We currently have a split stay 3 nights Poly/7 nights Beach Club booked for July 2-12. I definitely want to keep the 7 nights at the BC, but am seriously debating changing the first 3 to AKL. We have never stayed at either AKL or Poly, but we will be trying the Poly for 2 nights in March. I have dreamed of staying at AKL since if first opened! My main hesitation is that we will be at the first resort over the 4th of July and it would be nice to watch the fireworks from the Poly beach. I asked this on the resorts community board the other day and got all votes for the Poly, but still am not convinced.

I guess my biggest question is how active are the animals in July and at what times of day? What's the best location to request a Savannah view room?

I feel like we would love it I just need convincing!

Well it looks like November is lonely.................so I'll add my name to the list. My wife and I, along with my brother and his family will be staying in 2 Jambo House Savanna view DVC Studio's from November 6th through November 12th!
This will our first stay at AKL/AKV...........and my brother's family's FIRST visit to WDW!!!!

I understand your concern as these resorts aren't cheap. However, we have stayed at 4 WDW resorts now that were going through a room refurb and had no idea any of them were happening until either we left or overheard a couple CM's talking about it. WDW does a very good job of closing off the area that they are working on. For 2 of those trips we had no idea until doing the guest survey while waiting for the Magical Express and they specifically asked if the room refurb affected out stay. I asked the CM what that meant and they told me that they were redoing the resort rooms. We honestly had no idea.

Hi, Doug! Check out the previous three or four pages. It appears a soft goods refurb is happening from now-early June in the DVC and CL areas of Jambo House.

Just back from my first stay at AKL.
Absolutely beautiful resort. I've only stayed at POFQ and Coronado but this is definitely now #1 on my list.

A highlight for us was Jiko. Wow, what a great restaurant. Outstanding food.

Here now, no construction noise near us. We are on level 3 at the very far end of zebra trail. Haven't actually noticed any workers anywhere.

This was my experience too last week. I was worried since I received the e-mail and a note was left in my room when I checked in about possible construction noise. Didn't spot any construction work. I stayed in Jambo level 4 for what it's worth.
