We just switched to AKL from CSR for our trip at the end of May! We haven't been in three years, and we stayed at AoA last time. I am trying to figure out where we should request for our stay. We just have the standard view room and really want a king bed. My husband REALLY wants a balcony. Do all the standard view rooms comes with a balcony? Even the ground floor rooms? Thank you to anyone who can help!

What's funny is we stayed in a savannah view room (non-dvc member) in the bottom left corner last year and it was amazing being in that little section. We had regular animals sleeping there too.

I guess it's not that accurate! Ooops. But it gives a broad idea. Glad you had an awesome room/view!

....well, for obvious reasons, the 1st floor room do NOT have balconies....other than that, they all do.

Any recommendations for Savannah view room/ wing?
Ideally, not a long walk from the lobby?

Just a quick note...We're still going during this time, but I have a resv. for VGF...Thanks.
Hopefully in the fall we'll be coming back home to AKL.

To AKL veterans- It's our first time staying at AKL this summer. My daughters don't know yet and think we're staying at POR. Planning on telling them a few days before we leave. They are going to be so excited. Here's my question. I booked our flights and the only direct SW is at 6am. We'll land in MCO around 9 and I assume get to AKL maybe 10 or 10:30. We've taken this flight in the past and have always felt pretty wiped out by 6pm. Generally, we've gone to a park or DTD until about 6 or 7, but always felt pretty drained that first night. However, my daughters have begged to go to a park on arrival day again. I'm debating hitting Animal Kingdom that day because (1) it's so close and (2) we can work in more time for Pandora anticipating higher crowds this summer. My hesitation is that AK always feels so much hotter than the other parks. We usually go RD and leave by 12:30 or 1. The earliest we'd get there would be 11. Is that worth it? Should we go later in the day, say 3-6pm? I have an ADR for Yak and Yet booked at 6pm, but wondering if we should just stay at AKL and enjoy the resort or hit another park that day when we arrive with more AC options (Epcot?) and come back to ALK for dinner. Any advice from the AKL vets? Thanks!

Arden01, I think you could definitely spend your afternoon at AK. Plan your FastPasses so that you won't be in the heat too much. Maybe do Festival of the Lion King, ride Kali River Rapids, and knock out one of the rides in Pandora. That would take care of some of the headliners so you would have plenty of time on your official AK park day and would keep you out of the heat some.

What are some of the best activities at AKL? We have 3 nights there and I'm trying to plan out how much of our time to spend at the resort. I saw the February Activities schedule and there is just so much! I know we won't have time for it all. I know we will also probably want at least an afternoon or two at the pool. It will be me, DH and DD7.

There are a lot of great activities - we only had two days at the resort, and spent most of one day to soak some in. DD was 10 at the time and we chose making an animal feeder to be used on the savannah, animal tracking, African drumming, and making an animal cookie at Boma. Definitely would have done more if we had more time. They also get to collect plastic charms at each activity to make a bracelet. Also if you have time, try the Kidani pool and splash area - we only did the AKL one, but the other looks very cool.

There is a free Culinary tour. You need to be at the BOMA podium at 3:45. I believe it is daily. Check the schedule at check in. You get to taste the stew, bread and a zebra doom. I'm going soon and can't wait for this.
