Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

Hey everyone, thought I would check in. Have been here since Saturday: 1/23. I am in Surf's Up #1, ground floor, facing the pool. What a great location, no problems with noise from the pool. Food court is great, always love the chicken quesadilla.

Back in my room right now, taking a break. Something different this for me, I rented a scooter as both knees are pretty bad and couldn't even think of doing all the walking involved in a disney vacation. Weather has been great, way warmer than being at home. Buses have been great, no long wait times. Parks aren't that crowded at all. Off to EPCOT later for dinner at Marrakesh.

Flying back home on Wednesday, sorry to leave my happy place. Dr's appt on thursday, 1/29 to schedule my date to get my left knee replaced. God willing, we will be back in May for the F&G Festival, staying at POFQ.

I'm glad you popped in to let us know how you are doing

Knees , ugh, not good news but the scooter keeps you mobile and that is great
Is this your birthday trip or is the Bd in feb?
Thought you did a bad trip last Jan or feb

This was my birthday trip, it is on 2/12. I wrote before that we are going in May again, staying at POFQ. But now I am thinking of changing my ressie to stay at Sports and save over 300 dollars. Sports is fine, even though I have always wanted to stay at POFQ.

Got to admit, the scooter was a little awkward getting on the bus.

just booked a may 4 night trip. Looking for easy to get to hotel sit down restaurants near our resort? was looking at Cape MAy at Beach club and Boatwright's Dining Hall - Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge would be the closest to All-Star Sports.:)

Just FYI, you'll have to drive, take a cab. or take a bus somewhere and change to the other hotels bus.
We always find the restaurants (Chef Mickey's, the Wave, the Contemporary) at the Contemporary convenient because you take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then walk over.

Going on Monday for four nights! I've only been to Sports once before and that was for one night in September. I'm super excited!

I did realize for Boatwrights, you could bus to Downtown Disney/Disney Springs and then take the boat, but it's still going to be a good bit of time.

Like I said, we've done it (from both Sports and Pop) and it's not horrible, but it is time consuming to use Disney transportation to do it. So it may be a good time to try uber. Also, consider the restaurants at Downtown Disney/Disney Springs. But there are no hotel sitdowns that will not require transportation and a transfer of some sort.

Our trip is still a ways off so I know it could change but...

Can anyone confirm if powerade is available for the refillable mugs? If so what flavor? (Should be down for a run Disney race and plan on filling the mug before to have when I get back)

So, we just got back and I was told Building #10 is a preferred building but what I'm reading online says it isn't. Has this changed?

Maybe I'm behind the times but over the years, both of surfs up buildings were preferred

Haven't read on the Disney site of touchdown 10 being upped to a preferred building

If so,it would be a VERY recent change,BUT some of Bldg. 10 rooms ARE closer to Stadium Hall than some of Bldg. 1 & 6(Surf's Up!)rooms so it could be possible this has happened.

Who told you-Front Desk CM,Manager,etc.?Thanks.:)

It was the front desk clerk and when I asked if it was a recent change she called her manager over who told us that we would have had to book preferred to stay in Building 10.

Thank you for sharing the info with us

Building 10 is my home away from home when at sports

We are headed to All star sports in 18 day, but who's counting...hahaha!! I had a few questions though and was hoping someone could help answer them.
1. Where do they show the nightly movies on the property?
2. For the washers and dryers do they still take quarters or is it debit cards, I know last year Pop century had credit card slider instead.
3. Are the buses still shared?
4. Is there a Bus that goes to the ESPN Wide world of sports or the mini golf place?
5. Is the arcade still there? We didn't get the arcade voucher in our welcome packet.

Thanks in advance!!

Some answers:
- Buses can be dedicated or shared depending on the time of day. During busier times of day, like morning as parks open, the buses can be dedicated.
- There should be a bus servicing ESPN Wide World of Sports
- For Winter Summerland mini golf, you can take the bus for Blizzard Beach (which is a really quick ride as well from All-Stars)
- Yes, the Game Stop Arcade is still there
