Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

the touchdown buildings, #7 and #10 are not preferred buildings.

surfs up buildings are preferred. #1 and #6

i called when i read your post.
sports told me touchdown is still not a preferred building.

i always request touchdown 10 for my stays.
last year i was put in touchdown 7 but was moved on the third day to building 10.

i like being near the food court and close to the lobby area.

i booked and will be back "home" at sports this fall.

Please refresh my memory. We've stayed in both Football buildings but liked the one away from the food court better. Is that Building 7? When we stayed in the one closest to the food court we heard the delivery trucks backing up all night long (you know that annoying sound they make when backing up).

i found a good map on intercot.

touchdown #10 is closet to the lobby.
if you are facing the front of the main lobby area, td #10 is the building to the left.

touchdown #7 is across the football field.
i have had rooms in that building and have loved it there also.

the back of the building has foliage, trees, bushes, flowers and walkways.

td #7 is a quieter area and has beautiful landscaping.

I personally love the baseball buildings.. We just got back last week and stayed in building 9.. Not a bad walk but quiet.. Which is a nice thing.. I will request that building everytime if i can

Do you get to request a building at check-in?

you can make a request and if a room is available, it is very likely you can get it.

if you are going to be there for a week, let them know you would be willing to switch rooms during your stay if they can honor your building request when one opens up.

i have switched buildings before.
i did it again last fall when i stayed there.

all i had to do was have my suitcases packed and by the door. the cm's moved them for me to the new building.

Hi All,

We will be in WDW at the Sports May 2 - 8. this will be our first visit to an all stars so thread is great. We usually stay at POR, didn't know what to expect. Thanks for this thread!

I have read the first 16 pages and didn't see what I was looking for, so I am going to ask.

Does anyone know if we can check our bags in at the hotel when we are ready to leave for the airport? I called the Sports and spoke with a CM that didn't seem to know what I wanted. I checked the Disney website and it doesn't tell me what resorts have this option. So do they all have this option? I did see that our airline is not a participating airline, Frontier. So this may just be a worthless question, unless Froniter is participating and Disney's site isn't up to date.

Any help would be great. We are trying to decide how many bags to take.
If we can't check them in at the hotel we will most likely take two carry ons. If we can check them at the hotel we wil only take one. We have had too many issues checking bags at the airport late in the afternoon.

Thanks for the help!

Jamie

I do believe the resort check (all on site resorts have this) is only for the participating airlines, so you'd have to take them on the bus and check in at the airport, since I don't think as you stated, yours does.

According to this thread, they are:

Current Resort Airline Check-In Participating Airlines (Domestic only):
American Airlines
Continental
Delta
jetBlue
United/Ted
Northwest
Alaska Airlines
AirTran Airways
US Airways

I am not sure if that is a current list though....it was last updated August 2008. Hopefully someone can clarify.

Sorry, I'm not sure if that helped at all or not!

Ok I need help! :goodvibes We stayed at POP last year, and it was nice, but I wanted to stay in a moderate next time. Well we are going for free dining in sept/oct. I REALLY want to book CBR, but to save money want to book sports. It is about a $700 difference in the 2. What would you do? :confused3 I know most don't spend time at the resorts, but we will during the day b/c we are taking our DS who is 2 and he takes naps. We did not take him last year but our DD who was 4 at the time and does not nap, did take them at disney. So I know our son will. Because of this I can't say, "we will only be there to shower and sleep" we will be at the resort for 2-3 hrs a day, and I will not be sleeping nor will DH. Which would you do? Help sell me on ASM to save money :lmao:, or would you go ahead and pay the difference to stay at CRB?

I'd save the money- Just me (that means I get to stay longer or go more often when I stay at the values).

The All Stars or POP are perfectly acceptable. Actually my kids don't like the other resorts. They aren't DISNEY enough for them, lol.

There are plenty of fun things to do the All Stars, and there are plenty of Disney touches. I've stayed at CBR, and I thought it was too huge and stretched out. I'd stay at a value over the moderates anyday.

We have decided to switch from staying at WH to staying at ASSP for free dining this year. Yeah. I'm gonna call reservations first thing in the morning and book my grand gathering. I will be booking three rooms and am really excited now.

I was searching for this thread over the weekend and couldn't find it; I'm so glad it's here now!

We just booked ASSp for Jan 30-Feb 6, 2010. We've stayed at all the other values and want to give ASSp a try.

We booked a preferred room and requested a King bed. Has anyone had one of these rooms that can say where they are?

I look forward to reading through this thread for everyone's experiences :cutie:

The preferred rooms are all in the two Surf's Up buildings closest to the main hall (we stayed in a preferred room last time - it was great!).

HTH :goodvibes

I would also save the money! The value resorts are way more kid friendly and DISNEY!! We enjoyed looking around at all the statues etc. and the pools. Also, it seemed like even the food at the value was cheaper?? We visited some friends at the Coronado and saw the menu. Maybe not, that's just what I remember. Of course, with FREE DINING this wouldn't matter! When we did the character dining we visited lots of resorts, and the all-stars were definately more disney"ish". I can't wait!!
