Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

lilandvisma you will have to give us a review of your stay.

Have a great time....

:cool1: We are officially booked at the AsSports October 2-9!!! I gave the kiddos the choice of which value resort and they chose Sports...more specifically the basketball building. Only 4 months to go......

We just switch our trip from the end of Sept. to the 30th of August-Sept. 8, and from Pop Century, to All Star Sports.
We're looking forward to trying something new, but in a way it feels like a foreign country after being to Pop twice.

Looking forward to reading this thread and getting all the scoops!

We loved the baseball building.. you get a quiet pool and everything... And its really not that far of a walk... I hope all of you who are leaving soon to stay at AsSp love there stay as much as we did

We loved it too. We were on the bottom floor by the parking lot which was so convenient as we had a rental car. There were only a handful of cars in the parking lot so it was very quiet and quick walk to our room. And like you said, it's not a far walk to the food court and buses and we loved the quieter pool and being close to the laundry.

So I feel bad for not posting my review when we got back which was over a month ago. I always get so much good information from these threads, that I feel like I need to contribute, too :thumbsup2

We did a split stay between ASSp and the Polynesian. We got a discount code that I could not pass up at the Values, so my DD's wanted to try Sports. We usually stay at Pop. When we arrived around 11:00 our room was ready! We had requested Touchdown building 7, ground floor. We ended on the top floor which was fine and we liked the location. It felt close to the main building and it was still quiet. The kids loved looking over the playground. They would have liked to play there more, but there were other things to do! I will say that the staff was excellent here. We needed all kinds of things (we had water delivered, my daughters already had blisters before we got our luggage, then one scraped her knee...). The CM's were always very friendly. The beds were definitely a lot more comfortable at ASSp than at Pop. The bus service was great. We did have to share buses at night coming home from the resorts which was kind of a pain, but it also meant buses came more frequently. I enjoyed being the first to be picked up and dropped off. The rooms are getting a little tight for our family of 5 :) However I would not hesitate to stay here again if there are only 4 of us or when we need 2 rooms  Also DH and I really enjoyed the chicken quesadilla platter. It was one of our favorite meals!

We just booked our quick family vacation for Oct. 6-9 at Sports. I have only stayed at POP century so I am hoping this place is great also!

We just got back from Pop and switched our stay from there to ASp for October. Seems there are lots of Popers going with Sports. I hope the beds are not worse at ASp than Pop because we had an awful bed there. Last year the bed was good but this year we were not as lucky. Can't wait to read through the thread and learn more about AS sports. We have values we previously stayed at ASMovies and Pop.

Are there sprinklers in the pool here like the other resorts? Were the rooms renovated anytime in the near past?

Thanks,
Angela

I thought the beds were a ton better at ASSp than at Pop. I think it's because the rooms have been recently refurbished and you can tell. Was the refurb in 2007? Sorry I can't say whether there were sprinklers in the pools. I didn't notice anyway. You will have a great time!

Princessmorgan,
Thanks for the info. I worried about the beds because in the first post I read it as the beds were much better at Pop. I couldn't imagine it worse than Pop. lol Glad to hear they were recently remodeled.

Does anyone know if they are renovating anything there now?

Thanks,
Ang

all star sports rooms were completely renovated last year.
all new furniture, carpeting, and mattresses.
i believe they finished up all the buildings near the end of sept/early oct last year.

if by chance you receive a bed with a broken mattress, contact the front desk.

they will either move you or replace the mattress.

i know none of the mattresses should be at a point of being replaced already but, if it is used as a trampoline, it will break down.

in 07, i had a bed with a mattress that completely sank in the middle.
they gave me the option of relocating or waiting till a new mattress could be put in the room later that night.

i took the new mattress.

i have stayed at sports for 17 different trips.
i was grateful they finally renovated the rooms.

I was very happy also when they renovated the rooms. They needed a fresh look.
