Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Yeah, dorm size. but if you need it for medical reasons you can call and ask if you can get one for free. Alot of times they will.

Are hair dryers and irons available in the rooms? If not, once you request them can you keep them for the length of stay?

Now we haven't stayed at ASMo yet but we've been at ASMu & Pop and we had both a hair dryer and an iron in our room.

HTH :)

Hi everybody! I was finally able to score All Star Movies for my upcoming December free dining trip. It took me over a week, but a room finally opened up :cool1:.

This is my very last Value resort to scratch off my list and I am very excited! I have wanted to stay at Movies for a while but it was never available at a discount. Until this week.

I did have to upgrade to a preferred room, but that's OK with me. Only ... my DD wants to stay in the Love Bug section :scared:. Oh well. I guess we'll go visit Herbie instead.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before ...
Are there safes in the rooms? will a laptop fit in it?
Are there AV plugs on the front of the TVs..to plug in a portable DVD player?
Thanks!

There are safes in the room and they are built into the wall. A lap top will not fit in there.

Please do leave a review when you get back. I am curious as to resort condition and such. Very mixed reviews on that topic.

I will :). I have read that the rooms are "tired" and it does make me wish I stuck with All Star Sports with their renovated rooms. But, I need to check ASMo off my list ... POR, YC, GF and FW-Cabins are all I have left :thumbsup2. My 9-year old fish of a daughter is bummed that there is no pool slide, but she'll deal with it as long as she can get her gills wet. Plus, we'll be over at BWV for New Year's Eve and she'll get her fill of the scary clown slide.

I've not stayed at ASMo yet, but I know pops safe will hold a laptop. Some of the real big ones might not fit but an average one will. I would assume they have all the safe sizes the same through out the Values.

Remember that hotel hairdryers tend to be weak. So if your hair is thick you may want your own.

Unfortunately all the safes at Disney are not at all the same size. Newer ones may be big enough for a lap top, but older ones are small and only fit a few things such as your wallet, some jewelry and maybe a camera. Resorts I've stayed at in the last few years with small safes are Movies, Sports and POR. :)

Definately NO room in the safe for a laptop....we left ours on the floor in its bag with no problems, in fact we never lock it up and have never had a problem. The ASMO safe was tight even for our two wallets and my DS's nintendo DS that he insisted we lock up each morning.

The room was a bit tired (nothing horrible by any means, just scuffed walls, carpet a bit dingy, just generally in need of a little refreshing). It was fine, just not great - I guess the room felt like an 'ok' hotel, not a resort. The grounds were very neat and nice, and the main lobby, and all the rest was lovely. I was pleasantly surprised at how little noise I heard. Our two rooms were main floor directly infront of the toystory courtyard (right there at the checkerboard!), and when we checked in I was prepared to hear a lot of shrieking and the like, but it wasn't bad at all. Yes the toilets were loud, but keeping the bathroom door shut made it fine.

I was dissapointed by the pool, it has only a small shallow area, and then gets pretty deep pretty fast. There is not a lot of room for smaller children to swim within their depth.

What I LOVED the most about the resort - the lifesized characters were the high point. The food court food far surpassed my expectations, the salads were amazing, and the ice cream deserts YUM!!! I can't say enough good things about the food (free dining helped too!)

What I liked least - the pool, very dissapointing (but not enough so to even make us check out the mighty ducks pool, we didn't even visit it once), and the busses - seemed very unpredictable, sometimes 3 or 4 would go by to the other parks before one came to another. It seemed to be worst for parks with EMH's, we waited 40 minutes on our last day to get a bus for MK. That was our worst wait to the parks, from the parks our worst wait was about an hour to leave after EMH at MK. That said, we did have our car, but never used it, so all in all, the busses weren't that bad.....

Does the all-Star movies has queen size bed! and What is the rates for the all-Star Movies cost for the month of January! I can't wait to stay in the All-Star Movies i hope!

Sorry, the beds are Doubles and not Queens. I would keep a look out on the Codes board here ... I have heard of a new promo coming very soon for January.

Not sure about the rates for those resorts but $89 a night sticks in my head for some reason. No queen beds at the time we were there. The rooms at Sports, Century and Music would all be about the same.

I just got home from ASMo on Tuesday. Had a preferred room in the 101 Dalmations building. I really enjoyed the resort. It is a little rough around the edges because of the age but I saw a crew painting the giant icons on the stairways of my building while I was there, so maybe they will start renovating soon. The food at the food court was really high quality! I really enjoyed my fresh made to order chicken caesar salad at lunchtime, and I had the carved London broil with red wine sauce at dinner time. It seemed like the CM's had a hard time keeping the food court tables cleared and clean at busy times, but there was ample seating at every meal.
My room was directly in the middle of the Mighty Ducks pool and the Fantasia pool, so we went swimming in each of them. There was also a very nice wading pool area and water jets for the little ones detached from the main pool.
The Fantasia buildings, Toy Story buildings and 101 Dalmations all have preferred rooms in them. It looks on the map like the Fantasia buildings are the closest, but the Dalmations buildings are also very close. I also liked the quietness of the Dalmations building, we turned on the bathroom fan when we went to bed to drown out any noise from surrounding rooms the first night, but then didn't bother to the rest of the time, we just closed the bathroom door instead. Other than a random flush, we didn't hear anything.
My DD10 really loved the arcade, it had all of her favorite games, and even a photo booth that she could use her credits on. I really liked the pool bar, with two plasma tv's and great bartenders serving very yummy drinks.
The safe was definitely way too small for a laptop. It fit my wallet, keys, and my cell phone nicely though.

What I liked best about this resort was that it had an overall peaceful feeling to it. It never seemed overly crowded other than at breakfast time when everyone was going to eat and get to the parks. I stay at POP a lot and it seems so hectic there in comparison.

I took a TON of resort pics, of the room and from all of the buildings, if anyone wants to see pics of anything I probably have them, and will be happy to share if you'd like.

Oh, and the Mighty Ducks pool had a large shallow end, almost half of the pool. It was a much smaller pool than the Fantasia pool though.

Hi guys, we leave in 5 weeks  and we just received some papers for ME. That was about all that was in it. Shouldn't we be getting some resort papers or ..something?

Also, we are and have requested the Toy Story buildings. I am very interested to know if requested are often or seldom granted.

Oh, one more thing ;) , I think it was on the Pop thread where I saw a map of the resort with all of the room numbers and buildings. Does ASmovies have any such thing online that I can find?

Thanks guys! You are a huge help!
