I've been experimenting myself and have a question:

I understand using the emboss/drop shadow to make names/letters stand out. But, how do you add an outline to the letters? An additional layer in a slightly larger font, then select the "picture" letters and paste over?

I'm using Photoshop Elements (cheap version came with camera) and I can add an outside glow, but not change the glow color. I've searched the web a bit and I'm thinking maybe this is something you can do with Photoshop but not Photoshop Elements.

Am I way off base or just hopeless in the layering?

OK, I am using Photoshop 5, which came with my computer many eons ago, but I never tried it until recently. I have also downloaded Photoshop CS3 and it is AMAZING but it's also over $500 so I won't be buying it after my 30 day trial.

In Photoshop language, the outline around the letters is called "stroke." I am not sure it carries through to Elements but it just might. I found some good tutorials on about.com for Photoshop, maybe they have some for elements too?

You are doing a wonderful job designing. I myself have been trying to learn how to design (also inspired by Pat, Amy, and rumblytumbly among others). I will try to post them sometime, but for now you can check out the Epcot passport page to see some of my work.

I wanted to let you know, I use the "GIMP" program that can be downloaded for free from the internet. If you are looking to upgrade for FREE it is a good choice. It is similar to Photoshop, but not the same. I have both and use them for different things. SO far, I am actually preferring the GIMP. Go figure.

You can just reduce it to any size you want in Word or whatever you use to print, but if you want your screen name on one, just ask and I will make it the size you want (just tell me what the dimensions are).

Your designs are great! I was wondering if you could do some blank autograph pages with the mickey head design (like in Do you Dis?) in different colors like Pat's? My daughter loves the pages and we would like to have some extras for extra characters we meet in different colors but without the clip art character.
