Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I would guess no trams. They aren’t using the parking lot trams at WDW either. They’ve set up the tram pathway as a walkway with benches and garbage cans at DL. And with reduced capacity I would assume only Mickey and friends and the new Pixar parking structures would be used and not Toy story lot.
Aren't they still doing vaccines in the TS lot?

The website was updated, and mentioned what amenities will be offered when the parks reopen.

Thanks for the link. I have to say, if they aren't offering extra magic hours, then I certainly hope they offer guaranteed admission if you stay onsite. Those are steep prices to pay for no perks.

Agreed! Even if that means they don’t open all the hotels right away.

Well, the benefit of EMH was getting a jump on the crowds. But there won't be crowds anymore, so it's of little value.

Staying onsite will get you the perk of being able to leisurely stroll up to the gate before opening and be one of the first in. I have a feeling once they open, the M&F structure will conveniently not open until shortly before the gates open, and people have to park and walk to the entrance. I doubt it will be possible to arrive early enough by car to be at the gates before opening. They will want to stagger arrivals and the easiest way to do so is keep the structure closed until maybe 15 minutes before park open.

At WDW they aren’t officially doing EMH, but parks opened 45 min to an hour early. It changed daily. It was awesome. No huge crowds gathering. They usually let buses in first, then cars parking. Sometimes certain attractions were already running. Sometimes you could queue up for attractions not open yet. I’m assuming DL will do something similar.

I'm not too shocked about DL not offering EMH since that is what WDW did when they first opened. They too suspended their fastpass system. But with such small capacity, fastpasses/maxpass won't really be needed.

I'm pretty sure DL will handle characters the same way they are at WDW too. They will be social distanced and wave to you. I could see some riding around on the street cars or on the River Boat.

That's great, but it really doesn't change anything. LA and Orange County are already under 7. Unless we get another spike we'll be under 1 before DL plans to open.

Well, it does change the allowable capacity at Downtown Disney. Non essential retail can now go up to 50% and indoor dining can resume at 25%. In addition, I believe Splitsville can reopen their indoor operations and offer bowling if they want to.

Considering this is the last weekend before Taste of Disney, it will be crowded.

Edit: bowling alleys need to wait until Orange tier

This has been done for past CHOC Walks. See this video from CHOC Walk 2019 for examples on how characters were distanced (for non-COVID reasons) and how effective it was (start scanning from about the 25 minute mark for characters throughout the Walk):

Well done, that's a very important point. At WDW they do it to avoid the morning queue and there is no "rope drop". With announcement of no EMH at DL, it's totally reasonable to expect the same. And if they stagger other arrivals (buses, parking garages) the morning could be really cool for a lucky few.

I wonder how they'd restrict crowds at the gates for folks walking from
surrounding hotels and filling up at the gates? At least at WDW walking from your hotel only works for a few select hotels/parks.

Speculation time- If attendance is limited to CA residents and IF hotel guests get priority on reservations.... do you think I could sell my VGC 3 night Memorial Day weekend reservation for $25/ point? That’d be $1600? $30 if only VGC is open with priority? That’s $1920?

Our plan has been to go regardless, and we still might, .... but now I’m almost thinking about selling and using the money to go to the Hotel Del instead.

How big is the room? So that comes to $640 a night at your higher price, so somewhere between a room at DLH and Grand. It's possible.
