Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Red tier qualification - Day 1 of 14 -- we're on our way ; as pointed out we're just shy of 2M disadvantaged to lower the bar to 10 and it's retroactive too --giving a week's credit. So potentially LA/OC/SanDiego all can go red next tuesday!

That would be great and if rates continue to drop for this week; that'll jump start to get into Orange during April to really lower the boon on covid while vaccination rates continue to rise.

All good news today with DLR announcement

I hope we can get there by next week. I am excited for Disneyland to reopen, but I am even more excited for my daughter’s school to reopen. It’s been a LONG year of distance learning.

I’m kind of excited because I don’t remember what ~12,000 people at Disneyland looks/feels like. Those lucky to get in (if the cap stays at 15%...that actually might not be likely once it’s actual reopening day) will be in for a treat, I feel.

I agree that it sounds awesome on the surface. Knowing that all indoor rides will be closed and likely indoor dining, that pushes the 15% into a smaller area in general. It will still be a significant improvement, though. I doubt it will stay at 15% for very long.

All indoor rides will not be closed. This narrative needs to disappear. This was NEVER said by anyone. It was a misquote by a news article. Indoor dining needs to stay closed in RED tier only. By late April, OC should be out of red tier.

All indoor rides won’t be closed. They’ll have restrictions, like loading every other vehicle, and some might be closed.

Thank you for saying this. My head is about to explode. lol. Indoor rides, and ”If it’s only California residents...” my eyes have rolled so far back I can see my brain. What we don’t know is way more than what we do. Last summer’s deja vu is great. When we get a date, then hang on. The way numbers are dropping and rules are changing, it will all be different than it is now, in 2 weeks and in 4 weeks. Until then, we are all throwing spaghetti on the wall. I’m just as excited as the next person. And I understand venting. I’m a pro. But we need to take a beat here and only go by what Disney is reporting, and so far that’s not much.

I don’t think the “no indoor rides” thing has been confirmed. IMO I can’t see DLR reopening with that condition imposed on them...I feel that they’ve been “all or nothing” with DL (as a sacred space) and were just begrudgingly opening DCA for the food thing.

but who knows

LOL. And for the love of all that is good in the world, don't take anything Ghaly or Newsom says as gospel. These two have doctorate level degrees in "talking in circles" and speaking in tongues. Look at the ACTUAL guidance published on the state covid page.

I'm sure what Ghaly ACTUALLY said was something like this: "So, we will allow theme parks to open, in the red tier, and we will make sure we minimize mixing such that...in a way we can socialize...so that means, uh, limiting capacity to 15%, and this would include, uh, you know indoor capacity, and no indoor dining...and, uh, rides, where we will have restrictions on those rides indoors to minimize mixing and spreading...via capacity controls and time limits and things like that and, uh, outdoor rides will be allowed to have higher capacity than indoor rides due to being outdoors where the spread of infection is minimized, and where we can mandate mask use continuously, uh, that will allow us to reopen theme parks safely."

I mean, I can see how a reporter trying hard to be the FIRST to break a story would just hear this and interpret it as "no indoor rides."

However, the couple articles that initially posted this, went back and provided an update with clarification where they changed what they said. People really like to latch onto the FIRST thing that was published, without understanding that clicks are what drive journalism these days, not necessarily accuracy.

I’m counting on the inside info that percolates these boards from CMs and family of CMs!

House of Mouse posted an Instagram story image stating the parks were opening April 29th. But, this is the only place I can see this picture, no one else is reporting that information.

With the ways things are going vaccination wise I really feel like this is not a repeat of last summer. The 50 day countdown starts now!!!!

Well there it is! Normally when there are announcements is blows up all my feeds, but House of Mouse was the only place showing this for me! :)

I also saw it on Twitter but then the tweet was deleted. Maybe Disney was not ready to make the announcement official until later today or later thus week🤷‍♀️
