Tips for the Del

Thanks so much for all the tips! You’re making great me want to make the switch! I’m still waiting to see what DL says about reopening.... but it might be a good switch to make!

I think we had that room, or the one next door, once. We joke that we can never stay at the Hotel Del again because we had such a great room there at the top, looking over the beach, that whatever we might get can never be as nice.

I know this is unpopular, but I'm still in favor of DL letting in out of staters who are vaccinated. Recent data continues to provide evidence that vaccines not only stop severe disease but also prevent infection and transmission. The messaging that you still can't do anything even after vaccinated is stopping a lot of people from choosing vaccination IMO. At least in my area.

I think this sort of thing is coming, to be honest. It will have to be voluntary, but I can see it becoming more and more popular as large scale events start to come back online.

Over the last few months the airlines/cruise/mass sporting events (eg stadiums) industries have been attempting to create an electronic vaccine passport. I could see it working similar to TSA Precheck/Clear, and the state of California allowing it to be used for mass events isn't that much of a stretch (although it does create problems with their equity metrics). There are a number of articles if you do a quick search online.

Since the other thread is supposed to be for official information to help people know about updates without having to sift through too much, I'll keep my chatter here.

My fingers are crossed I can get a ticket! Not just getting through a queue, I mean, but the fact I have no entry media and we don't yet know how all of that will be handled or what will be offered.

I've had a hotel booked for my birthday weekend for months. After cancelling so many stays the past year, it would be amazing to not have to cancel that one too.

Same! I'm hoping they let us make reservations soon so I can know when to take off of work. I hate the thought of of waiting until the week before. Also, it could give people who couldn't make reservations at first a chance to make one in the event someone has to cancel theirs!

I have the opposite problem. I have entry media, but still no idea if I can use it or will need to purchase new tickets. I have hotel booked for my birthday (and Thanksgiving - still trying to decide which one to keep) and I don't want to cancel either. Like so many others, I think we've cancelled 4 trips we were supposed to use these tickets for!

I know answers are coming. My patience is just zero now.

I think it might be a little bit that the announcement was so spare on details - the date was the big one, and they confirmed some of the suspicions about the-topic-we-shall-avoid-for-now, but most of the big questions were left in the air.

(How tickets will work, when they'll go on sale, when reservations will open, etc.)

I definitely think they should limit how far out reservations are for sure, but I also hope they aren't too close either. Does that make sense?

I also like only one hotel is supposed to be open. Means some of the local hotels will get business too.

I'm so curious about the ticket situation. I can see reasons for using up existing and also for selling new. Selfishly I am thinking of the former APs who thought we'd have tickets but now don't . But I'll understand if it's only existing tickets for now.

I still have so many speculative bookings. I lost track how many I cancelled, but I hope my favorite hotel isn't too mad at me for it. I tried to make sure I cancelled as soon as I was sure a trip wasn't happening.

Here's hoping we hear soon what's going on with tickets!

That’s my birthday too! Was supposed to celebrate the big 4-0 at Disneyland last year with my mom. I hope your girl gets to spend her big day with Mickey!

I'm glad there's a reopening date, but what I really want is info on the new AP/Membership/Whatever-It-Is program. I'm excited to get back, but I'm not in a rush to buy a one day ticket for a one day visit. I'm more interested in the long game.

I would be really shocked if they announced another AP type program. I don’t see that happening for quite some time. But you never know! Disney has certainly surprised me before!
