Disneyland Paris employee ruins marriage proposal

What it looks like to me is that cast member was doing his job and keeping people out of an area where they weren’t allowed to be. Now because it looks bad Disney isn’t backing him up.

If it’s you’re biggest moment why wouldn’t you check to make sure it was allowed ?

I have no issue with the cast member interrupting the engagement but taking the ring is way over the line. I don’t know laws in Paris but in usa there could be case against the cast member for assault/battery if the guests pushed the issue. This may seem extreme but the law is fairly clear you cannot forcibly take someone’s property and refuse to give it back to enforce behavior.

He could have waited till they were done, they were halfway there already. Plus snatching the ring? Big nope. He is literally in between the couple in that first picture. What an ... buzzkill, not to mention attention grabber.
If they weren't supposed to be up there then waiting till after it was done would be pointless.

If the couple was in a restricted area they were trespassing and breaking the law.

You are free to think what you will, I'm not partial to ruining special moments myself when they could have been escorted out afterwards. Specially when he had asked permission. It's not his fault if the cast member who authorized him wasn't supposed to allow that. That guy was smiling like Randall from Recess when he stole the ring. You do you :).

Kinda looks like he "wasn't" doing his job if it was to keep people out, they were obviously "in" at least for a while.. Why not just guard the stairs.

That said, others on here have mentioned it's an obvious off limits stair case/area, if so they did push it.

I wish there was something like a rope or cord that Disney could have repurposed to clearly mark off where people can't go.

If we ignore the claim he asked and was given permission I still see nothing in the video to indicate he was knowingly in restricted area so saying they were trespassing and breaking the law is a stretch. However even if we assume he was illegally trespassing it does not prevent the response from being illegal itself especially when escalated to physical contact with 0 attempt to remove them verbally without physical contact.

I don’t see how anyone can defend the castmember physically taking the ring that is likely worth thousands without any prior attempt to verbally ask them to leave.

Some people just get off on whatever little bit of power/control they can wield over others. The smile and the eagerness makes me think that is the case here. Seems to enjoy ruining the moment. Hopefully they stick him cleaning toilets for a while.

I find it very hard to believe they had permission to be there (asked a bus driver?) there's fencing around the area. I'd love to hear what Disney did and see clear pics of the area. The CM was overzealous taking the ring, but he clearly knew they weren't supposed to be there. Can you imagine what precedent that would set? People would think the stage areas are fair game for proposals. Open can of worms....

See I think some of us have only seen the OP pics. There's no indication of a fence I can see. But yea that changes things for sure.

Allegedly they hopped the fence to get up there but had a 'friend' who is a CM tell them they could do it there. So the permission was dubious at best.

It looks like the CM was smiling to keep up appearances, not joy at ruining a moment. Homeboy's got a job to do, and he might have been in bigger trouble if he didn't intervene. Also, not having watched the video, I would venture a guess, and this is purely a guess, that he tried getting their attention before going up there to stop it. He probably shouldn't have snatched the ring. A simple hand on the shoulder could have done the job.

He didn't, he came in running and snatched the ring right out of the guys hand. He didn't try getting their attention beforehand.

Was he shouting from the side, because he's really not supposed to be up there either? It might be hard to tell.
