Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

Wait are we not going through the stadium for the half? Am I reading that right?
Anaheim Supercross takes place January 6 so the baseball field will be torn up and replaced with a dirt track.

Love running through the stadium though I don't remember doing so during previous January events because of the annual Supercross. Hopefully it will be included in the Halloween half. 🤞

Also a friend of mine pointed out this and I missed it. But Splitsvilles breakfast is actually after the 5k not the 10/half so it’s technically closer to the finish of that than IHOP. But I would still opt for something else

Guessing it will be in the 25 course maybe then. The 25 dates are at the end of the month beginning of February.

Does anyone happen to know the price for the one-day photopass? We have Genie+ but may not go to the parks after the 5K so trying to figure out my options for pictures.

I loved all the courses! Mainly 5k 10k time in the parks
HM all that time in the roads, hope they do some entertainment as well.. :)
the races have historically been pretty good about about having other entertainment on the Anaheim section. One of my favorite non park sections of the old course was all these older cars that they would bring out near the Honda Center. My Garmin profile pic is me with a delorian from 2015 from that section if I remember right. Hoping we see them again.

The only part I would expect not much happening is going to be over on the Santa Ana trail which it looks like we’re using again in the stretch from Honda Center to Angels parking lot

Honestly I’m going to miss going through Angels but I’m not going to miss that hill coming in and out of it

Also an amendum to this I don’t know how the OP got this I got it from. But someone seemed to have found the expo layout:

Interesting move to spread the expo out over two floors if this is right. But it makes sense because it gives more room for booths. That lower level is pretty spacious.

The map is in the event guide, under the expo.
Here's the map for the upper level:

CatChing up! I think the C2C medals are boring! But I’m not getting one so maybe FOMO!

Im excited about the course maps. With the harbor entrance I’m kicking myself for cancelling our best western park place reservations but consoling myself that it’ll be loud 🤣.

We are in the DVC villas. We don’t get there until Friday but those folks are in for an early morning with the 5K finish right there. I do think getting back on Sunday will be a bear since we’ll have to hit Harbor security right at park open.

The start closing ti es are interesting but they line up with 5 minutes a corral. The front loading of the parks don't give a lot of wiggle room for long character/bathroom lines.

Good point about security on Harbor after the half. But the parks actually open late on Sunday after the half; early entry is at 8:30 am and park opens at 9 am, so hopefully it won’t be bad!

Im thinking I’ll be coming back through around 9. It is what it is… but reminder to pack my patience!

Was hoping for the partners medal for C2C.

I ran the the 2016-2017 DL races before they were cancelled, so this is from my memory:

Someone asked about entertainment on the half since so much takes place in Anaheim. I did Tinkerbell 2016 and the entertainment was great. Lots of high school marching bands, cheer/drill teams, other bands, taiko drums, etc they even had red hat ladies inside the park. They also gave out carnations to everyone who entered the park (Mothers Day). When I did 2017 Star Wars, it was remarkably reduced because they stopped giving out free tickets. I think maybe just one small band, no red hat ladies ... but they did have the 501st legion in the 'burbs and I took pictures with EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. including their cars and droids. Perhaps there was more support out there later, but it was really sparse when I went through and some spectators were just starting to set up as I was running. Oh, they also had a great Star Wars show while we were waiting in the corrals. Hopefully Anaheim shows up for the reintroduction of DL races.

Never ran through Angels Stadium. I think they stopped that before I did my races, sadly.

The 10k map looks amazing. I just love all the in park time in it.
The 10k really is amazing!

Front loading the parks means it will be dark the whole time, right? I’ve found it hard to see a lot of areas at WDW and it seems a shame to run through such cool spots worrying about tripping more than taking it in 😊 Hoping DL has that figured out better!
They did a good job with lighting except the backlots were a bit dodgy. I'm a little worried since they haven't done this in 5+ years.

I didn't see anything in the guide regarding this, but I'm assuming if we are staying at DLH we can cut across DTD to get to the start area? I'm really excited about the 5k and 10k maps but not so excited I've forgotten the about what they did to the C2C medals! Replacing the iconic partners statue with...whatever the new designs are...is giving first time seeing Enchantment after the perfection of HEA. Just...why??

I think I remember you could do this after going though security on the DLH side.

Anyone familiar with the space between the Camelot and Tropicana that they have marked as our entry for the 10k? I zoomed in on google maps and it looks like there is a parking lot strip or something between the two hotels, but I'm not seeing a paved entrance from Harbour to that paved strip? I was looking as I've got a one night stay at Desert Inn and was hoping to just go out the back of the hotel to the event entry. I know it's not that far to walk a couple hotels down and around, but just thinking of all the people that will be funneled in through those two hotels! Seems like it'd get jammed up.

So I got bored and I am sick so I decided to spent 10 minutes marking where I remember for sure the races problem child hills. As I not so affectionately refer to them. Basically hills that are steep and in my case you don’t have room to pick up momentum before the hill. Because either there’s no downhill or the downhill is just far back enough that you lose all momentum and speed you would have gotten coming off the hill. (Looking at you tunnel that connects the parks) or in the case of entering Toontown the upgrade is so steep that even we have a downgrade right before it the natural speed coming of coming off that hill won’t be enough for someone like myself to get over the hill on that alone.

Please note I got lazy with circling on the west side there are two separate hills going into GE. Technically there is a downhill after Splash. But it flattens out so fast that it’s useless for helping with getting up the next hill.

Thankfully there aren’t a ton in any of them but thought I would share

Also I’m trying to figure out and failing what the deal here. Is this like this because we’re going to go up the trail and turn out or is it some sort of weird angle entrance? It’s been long enough since I’ve been on the trail I honestly can’t tell.

You didn’t do Angels before because it was cut ftr. You didn’t do Angels because you were in the wrong race weekends to do them. The spring races never went through Angels. Angels was exclusive to the fall races ie Disneyland Half weekend and Avengers. Both Tinkerbell and Star Wars ran in different directions that didn’t take them near the Angels stadium.

And yeah I think the spring races they were doing some weird experimentations on what the racers would permit. I don’t remember there being a lack of entertainment at DLH. But I do remember it seeming quieter at Tink it felt like. But that was also the race weekend where they thought they could get away with pulling character stops for the races and tested it out on us in the 5k

That went about as well as you probably expect.

One of the few times I know for a fact runDisney listened to us. Because they were having a lot of people threatening to take their money elsewhere
