Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

Does anyone know if they do pace groups for the half? I know they have at WDW before but haven't been able to find any info. Was hoping to see it in the event guide, but can't seem to find anything yet
Unless something changes which since it’s on track for WDW at least I don’t think it will. It should be the Galloway pace groups again.

I've heard from very reliable "people in the know" (i.e. not a random bus driver) that yes, there will be Galloway pacers there.

I am in Customized Jeff Galloway group and I talked to Chris this morning who organizes the pacers for Galloway and they have all the pacers ready to go for Disneyland. So we will have Galloway pacers, some are the normal FL some will be newish CA ones.

Front loading the parks means it will be dark the whole time, right? I’ve found it hard to see a lot of areas at WDW and it seems a shame to run through such cool spots worrying about tripping more than taking it in 😊 Hoping DL has that figured out better!

Yeah though DL has the lighting at the start figured out from my exp almost to the point of it being a problem. Like my friends and I needed accomodations because their lights triggered migraines before. Really hoping they figured out a happy balance…

In the parks though it probably will be the same as it is during a normal park night. If you’ve got tickets maybe walk around and see what it’s like after sunset to get a better feel?

Wait, if I have this right... it looks like the half will run by the Millennium Falcon?
Good eye! It definitely seems that they’re sending us by where the Empire ship is (really sick and forgetting the proper term is) to the Falcon and then into the backstage.

Also this made me realize we’re going up the Hungry Bear hill. 😬 Oh that’s not going to be fun in a chair. Like I appreciate a different route through GE compared to Springtime. But I’m not looking forward to that hill.

For what it's worth that First Order ship was potentially going to be in Episode IX, but has never appeared in a Star Wars movie. The guy who designed the ship was Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, who was originally supposed to direct Episode IX, but was fired because they were not happy with the script and story for the film.

I consider myself a huge Star Wars and still had to look up the in universe name of the ship because I had forgotten it. It's TIE Echelon.

Okay having found this I’m going to say the 5:35 is them being overly optimistic in projecting how long the start takes. Because these aren’t tiny corrals.

Also had a brief moment of concern about getting in if you’re coming from the south (where my hotel for the 10 and half are) but looks like that’s planned for.

Though this makes it look like coming in for the race and parking might be the least optimal way

Well this answers the question of whether any of the DTD places will be doing things for the race weekend.

$42 per adult? Geez, you can walk to IHOP or Denny's from the finish line and get most of that stuff for a fraction of that. That's my plan anyway. I like French Toast after races and I plan to go to IHOP when I finish the 10K. Anyone I come across along my walk can have my plastic cheese.

And a lot less extra steps to get to IHOP or Dennys compared to Splitsville after the 10K or Half

Hey I didn’t say it was a good deal just that it existed.

i know I missed the pancake convo on here I believe a while back I think but honestly if you want pancakes that were good the last time I went there (which admittedly it’s been a long while) and don’t mind going a bit further out of the way. I’m going to recommend the Cocos on Katells and Chapman. Similar style to IHOP but Cocos is more consistent imo

The hotel I'm staying at has a free hot breakfast, and by most accounts, it's fairly decent. Will it be better than the $42 Splitsville breakfast? Probably not. Am I paying $42 for the Splitsville breakfast? Probably not.

I didn't see anything in the guide regarding this, but I'm assuming if we are staying at DLH we can cut across DTD to get to the start area? I'm really excited about the 5k and 10k maps but not so excited I've forgotten the about what they did to the C2C medals! Replacing the iconic partners statue with...whatever the new designs are...is giving first time seeing Enchantment after the perfection of HEA. Just...why??

Thanks to everyone who answered this question!

I've never run with a pace group but am starting to feel very nervous for the half. My first since 2020 and have since had a baby and my body isn't what it used to be. I think having some people to help me through it might be what I need to get to the finish, especially for that second half of the race.

For 42 a person... you can get a character breakfast.... we are doing the Brunch at Story Cafe.
Yeah was going to say this as well. Storytellers is a good one too. I actually have my pre half race dinner booked there. Which isn’t a character buffet but it’s still good.

So who is good at the math and can figure out when the balloon ladies will cross the finishline for the 10k and the Half?
Well for the half if the supposed time when the start closes is accurate it will be around 9 am. But I’ve mentioned up thread that I think they’re being overly ambitious with how long this is going to take. Could be wrong though.

But at the earliest 9

Considering security check isn’t until you get accross Harbor. You should be good
