Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Ran 2.75 miles (and yes Vicki, I did calculate that today, exactly...unlike usual). Meant to do 1 mile or so of hills with the dog, but we took a new path that led us around the lake. I walked the last .5 miles, as I was worried about the dog. She's a trouper and did OK. I may have to take her out on runs more often.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
~Joseph Campbell

Is there another Vicki here?

Anyway, good going!!! You have your own inner "Bob." You will do great. :yay:

Ummm...no I guess I accidently typed my own name...geez! I should have had coffee first.

:rotfl: Yes, my inner Bob will be asking me when we talk if I've ran...even from afar he can make me feel guilty!

OK, question for everyone...what is it about Bobs and trainers?

Vicki: Great job on the running! Woohoo! :cool1: Good luck keeping up the exercise program the next few weeks. My advice for Denver -- get thyself to the fitness room every morning. :cheer2: Wake up a little earlier and run on the treadmill or do the elliptical for 30 minutes. :cheer2: You will feel so much better and the treadmill is a cool thing to use every now and again to get a better feel of your speed and form. Oh, and you could always bring that resistaband with you....

I'm going to try to get some exercise in today. I'm still sore from running yesterday and resistaband two days ago. But I can say that I do feel better, just in terms of my overall mood, now that I am exercising more again. I really think I need it now. I'm so cooped up in my house in front of this darned computer all day. It's critical to get up and move. Just hard to remember that on some days...

That's funny about 'Bob' = trainers/motivators!

I'll be at my sisters in Denver and she has a treadmill so if I can't get outside to run I'll use that. My sister is a walker so I know I'll at least get some walking in while I'm there. I really intend to keep to my every other day running schedule! Oh yes, I could get out the resistbands couldn't I??? ;)

We are in the same boat as far as working from home in front of a computer all day! Getting out to run sometimes is the only time I get out and I know the reason I was feeling out of sorts for awhile was because I wasn't running or doing any type of exercise. Working from home has many advantages but I get really bored and feel isolated sometimes too!

Ran 2.75 miles (and yes Vicki, I did calculate that today, exactly...unlike usual).

Hehehe! :rotfl: My favorite thing to do is go on mapmyrun.com and (now I've found another site I like better runningahead.com) and trace my run to see how far I ran. Soon I'll have mapped all of my runs and it won't be as fun but for now I'm having fun! Glad you were had a good run!

Tyrae and I cancelled our training session today because my thighs are feeling really tight. It's not a soreness but I feel more like if I do any bending I'm going to tear something. Tyrae says it would be much better if we cancelled today and just met up on Saturday because he doesn't want me to get injured.

AF is here and I'm feeling really crummy today even though I took my vitamins and have kept up with my water and eating. I also think the long walk in the sun yesterday really wiped me out. The heat always wears me out.

I'm hoping to get to the gym or exercise outdoors tomorrow to make up for today. I have to dressed and out of my room by 8:15 because the carpet guys are coming at 8:30. Diana and I have a plan to see The Proposal before she has to go to work. I love Sandra Bullock!

Morning ladies!!

Time for Friday check in. This has been an interesting week for me. I have some major dental issues going on now so it's made eating interesting. It has to be soft and mushy. One night I had cake and ice cream for dinner. lol

So I really didn't know what to expect when I stepped on the scale. :confused3 I haven't been eating much, but what I do eat is not healthy at all, kwim?

Anyway, I am down from 215 to 210. So I lost 5 pounds. I wish I could feel good about it though. I was surprised to see such a loss when I've been eating junk.
Last night for example, I had a Taco Bell bean burrito because they are soft and mushy, and a bowl of ice cream. I'm worried that while I'm losing, I'm not doing it right, and I'm certainly not getting the vitamins and such I need right now.

Plus in the past a loss like that would have had me thrilled, but now with some of my health concerns I'm worried it could be a sign of something wrong. Oh well, guess I can discuss all this with my doc when I go in on July 7. Until then, I'll take it.

Have a good weekend all!
KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Beth--
Congrats on the loss! :yay:
And, yes, I think it would be worthwhile to spend a little more energy on getting nutrients in your body. I think you lost because you had less calories, but your body needs healthy food. If you are truly concerned about your health, why then you need to do something POSITIVE. Going to the doctors for tests and such is an important first step. I think everything will come back clear for you (and am sending much pixie dust your way :wizard::wizard::wizard:). Exercise and healthy eating are critical to maintaining good health. Please do put in the energy to fuel your body! And, please, STOP worrying. (I'm saying this from one worrier to another). It doesn't help. Someone told me worrying is just a form of avoidance....got me thinking...

I haven't stepped on the scale. I did do well with my exercise this week. I feel nice and sore, which may sound odd, but it does feel good to know that I stretched myself physically this week. Also had a positive experience shopping yesterday. Got some new pants and couldn't find a size 8, but they had a 9 (odd), so I took it. A little tight, but since I've purchased a couple 8s lately, decided to go for it. Well when I got home and looked more closely at the tag, I noticed the pants weren't size 9, but really were size 6. Mind you I'm no smaller (probably bigger) than a couple weeks ago, but these pants are made larger. STILL, I haven't had a size 6 in my closet since HIGH SCHOOL. A size 8 would fit better, but I'm keeping these, just cause I like feeling like I can fit into a size 6. Funny, how my weight hasn't gone down, but my clothes seem to fit better.

Congrats on the exercise Jen! And the size 6. WOW!!

So far today I haven't eaten yet, and it's almost 2. I don't know what to eat. :confused3 I guess I need to get things like yogurt, applesauce, oatmeal, soup, etc. Things that don't really need chewing. I can call my 80 year old Grandma and ask her what she eats. :rotfl2:

In case anyone is wondering why I can't eat, you might remember I had two lower back molars pulled back in January so no teeth on the lower right.
On the lower left I was already missing one, and then last weekend I had another one crack and the whole filling come out.

So yeah, my mouth is a mess and until I get it fixed, which I will, eating is going to have to become creative for me. Maybe some V8 juice or something. I dunno.

Let's see...
Oatmeal, yogurt, soup -- great ideas!

Others: polenta with favorite spaghetti sauce, fat free refried beans with low fat cheese, bananas, mashed potatoes, smoothies (with yogurt and favorite fruits -- do you have a Jamba juice nearby?), and remember from baby food days...you can pretty much puree anything! Hope your mouth feels better soon!

Hope your mouth feels better. I went shopping today with DH to get him a suit for an interview. So unfun. He was just grumpy and wanted to give up after a couple of minutes. He got two suits (buy one get one free) that I'm sure will sit in the closet collecting dust.

Hey...it's almost the weekend!

Hi All - late check in!

Beth - Awsome on the weight loss! I know things are stressful for you right now but I know everything will be super fine and then you won't have to worry about any of the health issues!

Jen - Wow a size 6...it's been while for me...a long while! I don't even think I own a size 6 anymore after the multiple times of cleaning out my closet! The smallest size I've been in over the past year is a 9 but how quickly that can change! :scared1:

As for me I weighed and lost 1 pound...which I am really happy about because I have not been eating well at all!

But for running I am getting a little worried! I'm afraid I may be feeling some effects of an injury I did to my foot about 4 years ago - I tore the ligaments and was in a boot for 6 months. My ortho and I decided to wait for surgery unless my toes started slanting, I don't have any ligaments to hold them in place but I've been lucky and my toes have been fine and I've babied my foot a lot until I started the running program and everything has been A-Ok until recently. When we were at the zoo last week the ball of my foot and two of my toes on that foot started aching and I chaulked it up to walking too much in my flip flops. Well when I was running on Wed. my foot started killing me when I had 1/2 mile to go but I ignored it because I was determined to finish running! It was so sore that night and Bob tried to rub the soreness out of it but it didn't really help.
Yesterday I decided to walk to the library about 1 mile round trip and my foot hurt so bad and I limped to and from the library. I took some Advil and iced it when I got home and it did feel better and has felt better for most of the day but about an hour ago it started to ache. Bob doesn't think I should run today but I really want to! I won't run tomorrow because I'll be at DL and I plan to run on Sun. So I am thinking maybe I give it a rest today...walk only tomorrow in my tennis shoes not my flip flops and see how it feels on Sunday.:confused3

I am really not going to be happy if the injury is going to now start causing me problems!

I hope everyone has had a great Friday and that you all have a great weekend!

Beth - I know I don't need to tell you to have a great time with the Vegas Diva trip! You all will have a great
time!!:dance3:

FYI - The Disneyland 5K is 60% sold out...

Today was my 4th training session. We meet at the park on Saturdays and of course today it had to cold and rainy! I still feel that sharp pain in my thigh when I kneel or try to get up off the ground from doing push ups and sit ups. Tyrae wants me to sit in the jacuzzi for 20 minutes and keep my leg wrapped up in an ace bandage. I have the bandage but no clippy things to keep it together :headache:

We train again on Tuesday and I really hope the pain will be gone because I want to be able to do the split lunges by myself but with this pain it's impossible.

Hope your thigh feels better. Have you tried Epsom salt baths? Might help some.

I did 60 minutes of strength training and 30 minutes of running today. Hoping for a long run tomorrow.

Have a great weekend ladies!

I'm glad he is wise enough to skip training when you are showing signs like this.:thumbsup2

: :cheer2:

I agree with Jen, you are just losing because your teeth are making it hard to eat. New diet plan! Jk.... Def take some multi vitamins while you figure out what you can eat that's soft. soft mushy veggies should be fine.

Love the size 6!!!!!! Maybe you are at the place where your muscle is weighing more so it seems you are not losing when in fact you are losing inches. Nice.

I am really not going to be happy if the injury is going to now start causing me problems! Torn ligaments and your body now trying to tell you something.... be careful, okay?

I\\...

I did 50 min on the cross trainer and about 20 min of weights and machines Thursday. Was down again to my lowest weight mark on Friday. But no time to exercise on Friday, spent the evening and 1/2 of today at DL - so lots of walking. Tomorrow I hope I can fit a gym in, but I have a lot of work.

Ran 6 miles. Legs tired. Toe blistered. And it's all good.

Now time to go shopping and get house ready for Father's Day BBQ. :thumbsup2

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I gained .2 at my weigh in this week which really upset me. I called Beth, though, and she talked me through it...Thanks Beth:hug:! Since weigh in I have been staying to my points target and I have worked out. I am planning on working out 4 times this week for an hour each time...all cardio. So far I am on track to accomplish this. I am really happy to hear a lot of you are doing so well on your work outs and I hope all of you with injuries get better soon!

Beth, you poor thing! It is one thing after another, isn't it! For your sake I hope the weight loss stays lost! Good luck finding nutritious mushy things to eat!

Wow - 6 miles!!!!!!!! How long did that take you? Wonderful, Jen!!!!

Hi Sarah! Good for you for calling a friend. Way to go. Your workout plan sounds wonderful. My back is finally about 95% normal. However I had a lot of work this weekend (and I had already committed to that backstage tour- almost thought about not doing it, due to the work). Anyway, I got a lot of walking in on Saturday at DL but that's not the same as working out. Still, it helps.

I'm still at my new low weight. :)

Sunday, no workout at all but today I am hitting the gym! I'm so eager to get back to the classes but we'll see how they fit timewise.

Sarah, you are doing great - keep on going.

Poor Beth is going to have a lot of challenges trying to eat mushy with all the meals they have planned. Although maybe it's good - it will help limit her choices. She's come so far that I know she is a winner. And she has a great attitude. Go Beth!!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone. If you can move, move. :cheer2:

I know Beth is busy, but where is everyone else?

I saw my trainer today and I was 1 1/2 lb down from last week. We did a full hour workout today, which was great. Lots o' arm stuff as well as other stuff. Still protecting the lower back area.

My goal date is coming up soon. I will be traveling and then attending a conference. Lots of incentive to eat right.

How is everyone else doing? It's the start of summer and a lot of skin will be showing. Can't hide what you can in the winter. Anybody swimming?
:cheer2:

No swimming here but I did go to the gym today. My dd turned 1 today so we signed her and my 4 year old up for childcare at the gym. They were in there for an hour and really enjoyed it. My son didn't want to leave! I feel good about the choices I have made this week so I hope it will show as a good loss on the scale (my ww weigh in day is wednesday). Hope everyone is having a great day...wasn't Cristabel having another training day today? How did it go?

Sarah

Yeah for the gym workout and good food choices! :cool1:
So glad that childcare for your kids at the gym is working out.
Good luck with your weigh in!

As for me...well my knee was really bothering me (to the point of not being able to walk right) for two days after my more strenuous workouts this weekend. I didn't exercise Monday or Tuesday to try to heal. I'll try to get to the gym today, but don't want to run, as I don't want to agitate this knee.

Eating is not going well. :sad2: Need to get back on the scale and be honest with myself. Whenever I stay away from the scale, I seem to feel more free to eat the things I know I shouldn't.

Oh, I love that quote. I'm going to type that out large and put it on the wall in my office.

Yeah, after doing so well, I managed to eat too much today. That happens when I don't keep my blood sugar even - when I go too long w/o having a bit of protein. I WILL NOT DO THAT AGAIN.

I also thought the walking I'd do around the outdoor mall would count as exercise, but I didn't do as much walking today.

Is this the first time you've had knee problems?

I wonder. that is sooo nice your kids love the childcare. That's going to be one more reason for you to go!!!

Tomorrow - the gym.

On Tuesday I walked 5 miles and on yesterday I walked 2.5 miles and had my 5th training session. The dance room had a class so we did weights. Now my arms and butt are sore but I don't have the pain in my thighs anymore :)

ETA: I weighed in today and I gained :( But lately I have not been drinking enough water, drinking too much soda and of course Aunt Flo likes to be sporadic and pop up.

yeah, those gains are temporary. You're doing great. cut out the sugar soda and you're good to go.:thumbsup2

I did 40 min on the crosstrainer and treadmill. The crosstrainer was hurting my back a tad so I switched over. I didn't get as good of a workout as usual but it was better than nothing. I'm headed back there tomorrow.
